If you have found this walkthrough via google search or via another site then you have  probably not visited my site.

A lot more very detailed game walkthroughs can be found on my site at:  www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl

The screenshots that are in this walkthrough are made when I played the game in 2011 and wrote the Dutch walkthrough, so the text on the screenshots is in Dutch. I do not have the game anymore so I can't make new screenshots with English text on it. I'm sorry for this but it can't be helped

Chapter 2: Day 2:

Research into Dr. David Styles and his Experiments

It is the next morning and Sam has got up very relaxed after a good night's sleep. Sam goes to the kitchen to enjoy Mrs. Dalton's delicious breakfast. Mrs. Dalton reports that a newspaper was delivered by accident this morning. Sam can have the newspaper.

Sam has meanwhile finished her breakfast and the old chatter Mrs. Dalton also has nothing to say anymore. The newspaper that the housekeeper talked about is on the square cooking island. Take the newspaper.  It is an edition of the "Oxford Student". Click with your eye on the text of the main article to have Sam read the article.

In the article, Sam reads about an incident on the athletics track, the "Horspath Track". The incident occurred last night and the article describes exactly the "dream" that Sam experienced during the Styles experiment. A cloud of gravel has dazzled the lines and there is a pattern of lines on the running track.

Sammie is stunned to read that what she saw in her "dream" seems to have actually happened and she wants to investigate it further. Because you let Sam read the newspaper, that athletics track is now a location that you can access via the map. Store the newspaper in inventory and open the map and travel to the:

Athletics track (Horspath Track):

Eddie, the boy who draws the lines on the track and who we saw in Sam's dream, is busy scrubbing the strange lines of the track. Eddie does not have much success. Walk to Eddie and then view the line pattern with your eye. Look at Eddie with your eye and then click Eddie with the talking cursor to talk to the boy and use all the options you get again.

Eddie is, according to Sam, a "Headbanger" and therefore not a student. Eddie doesn't like students either, so Sam says that she really isn't a student. That breaks the ice between Eddie and Sam. Eddie thinks the lines on the track were made by Aliens. Eddie was wearing his iPod, so he didn't hear anything. A large white dust cloud came and that cloud followed the orbit and the curves and under the cloud then the white lines appear. According to Eddie, it couldn't have been wind and it all happened around half past ten last night.

Sam suspects that what happened to Eddie has been the work of an experienced magician, so she wants to investigate whether there are experienced magicians living here in Oxford, or nearby. Travel back via the map to:

Oxford city center:

Carfax Tower:

A Flower Saleswoman stand now on the sidewalk, at the Carfax Tower. First click with your eye on the flower saleswoman. The flower saleswoman sells wild flowers. Talk to the flower saleswoman and ..... Sam buys a bunch of flowers. Walk into Cornmarket Street and then enter the Black Wand magic shop again:

Black Wand shop:

Sam is warmly welcomed by Mephistopheles. Talk to Mephistopheles and ask him about the Daedalus Club Membership and then continue with all other options. Mephistopheles tells, among other things, that every member of the famous magic club must perform a Grand Game and he tells about a few of those Grand Games.

For example, a Daedalus Club member let the statue of liberty disappear in front of the TV cameras for half an hour. Another member made a precious diamond ring, the Krensfeld Star, disappear from the window of the famous Tiffany's jewelry house. The next morning a Scotland Yard detective found the ring in his cup of coffee. Another club member came up with a Grand Game for his wife. Through a hunt for precious antique chess pieces, the member brought together twins who had not seen each other since birth. One of the twins was an antique collector and the other worked at the Sotheby's auction house.

To become a member of the Daedalus Club you have to think of, and perform, a special magic stunt, a so-called Grand Game, and according to Mephistopheles there are plenty of special stunts for Sam to do. Mephistopheles also has no idea whether a magician is currently performing such a Grand Game in Oxford. At least it is not Mephistopheles.

When you have discussed everything with Mephistopheles again, open the map and travel to the:

St. Edmund Hall:

The 4 students who participated with Sam in the Styles experiment are waiting for Sam to discuss last night's experiment.

Sam and the students exchange each other's telephone numbers. The 4 students also find the event on the athletics track strange. Helena reports that her legs feel like she has been running around all night. Sam reports that she is further investigating and Harvey advises her to visit the library. The Bodleian Library comes available on the map as a location.

Harvey, Charles Angela and Helena disappear, but they have agreed to meet again here at noon. Open the map and travel to the:

Bodleian Library:

Upon entering the enormous library room, Sam screams, somewhat hysterically, that she needs a student pass to view the books in the library. Sam cannot continue, because to enter the room a student pass must be inserted in the turnstile. At Sam's right is a paper shredder behind the wooden railing. Behind the semicircular counter sits the librarian. There are rows of reading tables in the room and Helena Beaugard is reading at the front table.

Click on Helena to call her. Helena walks to Sam and asks why Sam does not come further.

Ask Helena if Sam can borrow her student pass (Borrow ID) and do it twice.

Helena does not want to lend her pass out to Sam. Helena has already lost her pass once and then had to put a lot of effort into getting a second pass. She initially found the photo on her first pass not nice enough and it took her a lot of trouble to get a new photo made. Helena now does not want to risk that  it can happen again if she give her pass to Sam.

Then ask Helena if you can see the photo on the pass (Let me see the picture).

Helena then puts her old and her new student pass on the counter and you see the 2 in close-up. Sam must give Helena her opinion on the 2 photos. The left pass is Helena's new pass of which Helena likes the photo. The right pass is Helena's old pass and Helena doesn't like the photo of it. Click with your eye on the left pass. A screen appears with a number of positive and negative comments.

You have to click 3 of the options. Helena likes her photo on the left card, so you have to choose 3 positive comments. Click on: "Now that's a good picture" and then "You look like a top model on this one" and then "You're right. That's MUCH better".

The screen automatically disappears. Click with your eye on the right pass. The comment screen appears again. Helena finds the photo on the right pass ugly, so you have to choose 3 negative comments. Click on "You look like you're on drugs" and then on "Can you put a paper bag over that picture?" and then on "You should charge that photographer with libel".

Helena is so shocked by Sam's negative comment on the photo on her old pass that she decides to burn the pass when she is back in her room. Helena then goes back to the reading table. Sam, of course, does not want Helena to burn her old pass, because Sam needs it to be able to enter the library. Maybe Sam can use a magic trick to steal Helena 's pass?

Get Helena's new pass:

Helena is now at the front reading table again. Click on Helena again but now with the magic hat cursor. The Magic Book will reappear in your screen. Scroll through the magic book to the "The Destroyd and Restored Ring Tric" page and then left click on the page. You automatically get out of the magic book again and hear Sam say she can use the trick to steal Helena's old student pass. But Sam also reports that she first needs something that makes a lot of noise. Sam needs a Noismaker. Travel back, through the map,  to:

Oxford Center:

Black Wand store:

Walk back into Cornmarket Street and then enter the Black Wand store again. Ignore Mephistopheles. The counter is on the right side in the store. There are 6 compartments in the front side of the counter and there are all kinds of things in those compartments.

Place your loupe cursor in 1 of the 6 compartments of the counter (Shop shelf) and then left click to get into the close-up of the 6 compartments. Place your cursor on an item in the compartments. If it is an item that you can take, you can read which item it is in a small text screen.

The left section is divided into 3 sub-sections. On the middle shelf, in the left compartment, are 2 "Noisemakers". One item is the "Shredded Paper Noisemaker" and the other item is the "Cry-for-help Noisemaker". Take the "Shredded Paper Noisemaker".  Get out of the close-up and then leave the store by clicking on the store door. Sam then automatically pays Mephistopheles the price for the Noisemaker. The thing is quite expensive, £ 12,- Sterling is a lot of money for a gadget. Sam is then standing outside in front of the Black Wand. Open the map and travel back to the:

Bodleian Library

Sam is back at the Library entrance. The swing gate is right in front of Sam. At Sam's right is a paper shredder behind the wooden railing. Take the "Shredded paper noisemaker" from inventory and then click on the paper shredder, which is behind the wooden balustrade. Sam does the Noisemaker in the paper shredder. Click again with the magic hat cursor on Helena to open up the magic trick screen . In the screen Sam now has to plan the steps for

"The Destroyd and Restored Ring Tric".

The Noisemaker remote control is in the inventory bar. Helena's old student pass stands between circle 6 and 7.

  1. Drag the Remote Control from the inventory bar to Sam's left hand.
  2. Drag Helena's old pass to Sam's right hand.
  3. Click on hands icon 10 (Manipulate right item).
  4. Click on rabbit icon 1 (Derive).
  5. Click on hand icon 3 (Manipulate left item).
  6. Drag Helena's old pass from Sam's left hand to Sam's right sleeve.
  7. The Magic Wand will reappear in the left screen.

Click on the magic wand and see how Sam performs the swap trick

Sam calls Helena and she says she actually likes the old photo anyway.

Sam then pretends to destroy Helena's new pass in the shredder. Helena is left with her old pass, but Sam now has Helena's new pass in inventory.

Take Helena's Id-pass from inventory and then click on the turnstile and ...... You will hear a noise to indicate that Sam can now enter the library through the turnstile. But Sam doesn't do this automatically, so click on the desk where the librarian is sitting, to force Sam to walk through the gate into the library. Go talk to the librarian and ask the lady where you can find information about the professors of the university, and in particular Dr. Styles neurobiologist. The librarian advises Sam to consult the catalog in the computer.

On the left side of the room there are 4 tables with the computer terminals. Click on the computer terminal that is on the front of the 4 tables. Sam types in a search query and finds a number of articles about Dr. David Styles. Read all articles and do so in chronological order:

November 1996:
Article from the London Times: David Styles was present at a party where Prince Charles was also present. Styles is then the rising star at the university and very popular with the females. Styles is described in the article as a handsome young man.

May 1997:
The text on the screen reports that the "Extraordinary Powers of Ordinary Minds" article is not available. If Sam wants to read this article, she must ask the librarian about it.

May 5, 1997:
Another article from the London Times. According to the article, Dr. David Styles and Laura Edmond Thorpe, the daughter of Lord Edmond Thorpe, a couple.

May 18, 1997:
The Oxford Student reports that Dr. Styles is the big favorite for the election of "best professor", and this because of his "fresh and exciting" look at how the human mind works and what the brain still has potential.

August 1998:
The London Times announces Dr. Marriage. David Styles with Laura Edmond Thorpe. The church wedding took place at Westminster Abbey.

October 23, 2002: Movie ........

Sam reads about the tragic car accident. On the way back from a charity dinner, Laura and David Styles' car was completely hit by another car coming from a side street at full speed.

Laura got stuck in the car and was burned alive. Styles was thrown out of the car and survived the accident. Sam receives a "Flashback" in which she sees that she is waiting for her parents as a small child.

Someone tells little Sam "they are not coming back" ......... Sam's parents died in an accident.

Get out of the computer and talk to the librarian again and ask the lady about the Scientific American article that was not available in the computer, The librarian says that there must be two copies of the "Extraordinary Powers of Ordinary Minds" here in the library but both copies cannot be found. The 2 items are probably stored under the wrong name. So Sam will have to get the info from that article from somewhere else. Leave the library via the Exit, or open the map. When you leave the library via the exit, the map also will appear. Now return to:

Dread Hill House:

Sam arrives in the driveway, so click with the Exit cursor on the front door of the gloomy house to enter. In the foyer the phone rings and Sam answers. It is the employment agency that inquires whether they should send someone else for the job as Dr.'s assistant. Styles. However, Sam says that the job is already taken.

Kitchen:

Talk to housekeeper Mrs. Dalton about the accident.

Sam tells Mrs. Dalton that she has read about the car accident and that she knows how Laura has died. Mrs. Dalton hopes that Sam didn't talk with Styles about Laura. The whole house is full of stuff that reminds us of Laura, but Styles can't stand it when others talk about Laura.

Leave the kitchen and click in the Foyer on the basement door (Basement hall) to go to the basement.

Basement:

Sam is halfway the basement stairs. The floor of the basement has a Floor gate. The left wall consists of a rack cabinet whose compartments serve as a wine rack. In the back the basement is closed off by a large solid Back gate. To the right are 2 doors. The front door is the door of the Main Laboratory and the back door is of Styles's Private laboratory . Now enter the Main Laboratory.

Main Laboratory:

The main Lab consists of 2 parts. In the front part there are 2 tables and an old MRI scanner. Behind Sam is a large file cabinet against the wall. If you click next to the MRI scanner, Sam walks on to the back section, where Styles did his experiment with Sam and the students last night. Stay in the front part.

On the left table is a Letter from Styles (Note of Instructions) and the letter again contains an assignment for Sam. Take the letter and click on it in the close-up screen so that Sam also reads the letter. Styles wants Sam to sort all his documents nicely in his file cabinet. Leave the close-up and ...... Sam appears to have picked up a letter and that letter now also appears on your screen.

It is a letter from the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital. Click with your eye on the letter again. Styles apparently donated some medical devices to the hospital, but the hospital needs the delivery note for that equipment. The letter is signed by Susan Whittier, the secretary of the neurobiology department of the Radcliffe hospital. Apparently the hospital has been nagging for that delivery note for some time and Whittier's patience is running out. The Radcliffe Hospital is now also a location where you can travel to through the map.

On the left table is also a device with a screen. In front of that device is a framed photo on a book. View the photo. It is a photograph of the woman whose portrait is also depicted in the painting hanging above the stairs in the Foyer. Behind the photo is a flower vase. Take the bouquet of Flowers from inventory and then click on the Vase and ..... Sam puts most of the bunch of flowers in the vase, but she still has a few flowers left.

Sort out Styles's documents:

Now that Sam has read the Styles Letter of Instruction, the file cabinet, which is placed against the wall in the back right, has now become available. Click with your magnifying cursor on the file cabinet to get into the close-up. The letter from Styles reappears, so you can read the instructions from Styles to know how to organize the documents.

Sam has to put the Dossiers in alphabetical order, but there are two exceptions and these are: Publications from Styles themselves must always be stored under the letter P and all articles about Oxford must be stored under the letter O. Click the letter away by clicking on the door on the bottom left and .........

  • A Dossier folder appears at the bottom of your screen with the title "To Be or Not To Be". You must now store this folder in the correct drawer of the drawer.
  • The cabinet has 20 file drawers and each drawer has a label with a letter of the alphabet on it.
  • Place your cursor on a drawer and the drawer will open slightly. Then click on the drawer to store the folder at the bottom of the screen in the drawer.
  • So you start with the "To Be or Not To Be" folder and it has to be in the T-La. So click on the T-la to store the folder in it.
  • The following folder appears, so determine in which drawer the folder should be stored, using the first letter of the folder, and then store the folder in it.
  • Continue like this until Sam is finished, taking into account Styles instructions and that there are a few drawers that are for multiple letters because in the G-I la you also do the H-folders.
  • In the P-R drawer you must put the Q-folders and in the X-Z drawer you also do the Y-folders. Incidentally....
  • It's all very straight forwards because you simply cannot click a folder in the wrong drawer
  • The folder "MRI, Published 1999" is a publication by Styles itself and you put it in the P-la. Sam reports that she is ready when you're done.

However, stay in the close-up screen because Sam wants to see if Styles has that document that has disappeared from the Bodleian. That document was the "Extraordinary Powers of Ordinary Minds" and must therefore be in the E-drawer.

So now click with your hand on the E-drawer and .... indeed ... in the drawer is the "Extraordinary Powers of Ordinary Minds" folder. Click on that folder and ..... Sam takes an article about Psi forces from the folder. Click on the article to hear Sam's commentary on Psi forces. Click twice on the Exit to exit the E-drawer. Sam takes the Psi article and stores it in inventory.

Open the F-drawer. Click in the F-drawer on the "FMRI Delivery Receipt" folder. Sam takes the delivery note from this folder that Susan Whittier from the Radcliffe hospital asked for. Click on the receipt and Sam says that she must give the receipt to the head of the neurology department at Radcliffe, and that is Susan Whittier.

Open the L-drawer. Drawer L contains the "Linksweller" folder. Click on the "Linksweller" folder and Sam takes an article by Dr. Abraham Linkweller. The Linkweller article is a direct attack on Styles' theory of the human brain. Linkweller claims that, since prehistoric times, the human brain has really not undergone any special development and certainly has not developed any special powers.

Open the N-drawer. In drawer N, click on the "Neurobiology Department Staff List" folder. From the folder, Sam retrieves a list of the names and phone numbers of everyone who works in the neurobiology department of the Radcliffe hospital.

Click on the Exit 3 times to exit all close-up screens. Then click on the door to leave the lab and go back to the Foyer via the basement stairs. Then go up to the 1st floor and to Sam's room:

Sam's room :

On the right side of the bed stand the mirror cabinet. On the mirror cabinet is the photo of Sam's parents, a glass and a water jug. Take the remaining flowers from inventory and then click on the glass, which is between the photo and the water jug on the mirror cabinet. Sam puts the flowers in the glass.

Now travel, through the map, to the:

Radcliffe Hospital:

Sam has landed in a hall of the Radcliffe. On the left side of the hall are the administration and the office of Dr. Abraham Linkweller. On the right side is the Staff kitchen To the left of the Staff Kitchen door is a red fire extinguisher on the wall. Behind Sam you see, on the left, a long hall that is illuminated in red and on the right the Exit through which Sam entered here. There is a large statue in the half-round niche between the two halls. Read, so click with your eye, on the sign that hangs next to the door of the administration office. Sam reads that she indeed has ended up in the right department, namely the neurobiology department. So click on the door of the administration to go inside:

Susan Whittier:

In the administration office Sam meets Susan Whittier, the secretary of Dr. Headley who is the head of the department. Sam introduces herself  as Dr.Styles's assistant. Styles. Susan Whittier says she needs the delivery note today. Click with your talk cursor on Whittier to continue the conversation and then use the "Equipment receipt" option and ..... Sam gives the delivery receipt to Whittier. Talk to Whittier again and use the Dr. Styles option and all further options that you get.

Susan Whittier can't tell much about Styles, but she does talk about Dr. Headley. Headley is the head of the neurobiology department and was a great admirer of Styles. Headley's office is next to the administration and Susan makes sure that Sam can go talk with Dr. Headley.

Sam will then automatically meet Dr.. Headley in his office. Use again all the call options that you get.

Dr. Headley says that Styles was brilliant, and still is, and that he had a bright future ahead. Unfortunately, the car accident threw a spanner in the works. Styles isn't dismissed by the university but was sent on leave indefinitely. Headley does not think that the rumors, those stories about students who disappeared after an experiment at Styles, are based on truth. Headley suspects that those rumors come from people who do not wish Styles to be successful.

Sam has the impression that Headley knows who are spreading the gossip about Styles, but Headley doesn't want to talk about it. Headley knows that Styles is currently doing an experiment because it is done with the permission of the university. Styles has submitted a plan of action, for his experiment, to the university and that plan has been approved. Headley refuses to give Sam a copy of that experiment plan. Styles must personally request such a copy.

When you have discussed everything with Dr. Headley, Sam will return to Susan Whittier's office. Sam wants to know who is behind the rumors about Styles, but for that she will have to look into Susan's file case and that is only possible if Sam has the key to that case and when the annoying Susan Whittier has disappeared. Talk to Susan Whittier again and use all conversation options again.

Susan also doesn't want to tell who Styles' enemies are and she doesn't want to give Sam a copy of the experiment plan. Susan also says that Styles must personally request a copy of the plan. Finally you get the options "Get Headley coffee", so use this option as the last one. Sam lies to Susan that she has to bring a cup of coffee to Dr. Headley. Susan falls for it and gets up to get coffee. Unfortunately, Susan does take the key to her file cabinet  with her. Susan comes back with coffee and brings the coffee to Headley and then comes back and puts the key of the file cabinet in a cup on her desk,

Click with your eye on Susan, who is now back at her desk. Sam reports that she must get the key for the file cabinet, but that she need a damn good trick to cheat Susan. Click with the magic hat cursor on Susan and the Magic Book will reappear. Browse to the "Bottomless Cup" page and left click on the page. Sam reports that this "Bottomless Cup" trick is the right trick to get the key from Susan, but she needs a magnet to perform the trick.  So we have to look for a magnet. Let's go back to the Black Wand store. Travel back through the map to the Carfax Tower (Oxford Town Center) and dive back into the Cornmarket Street and storm into the Black Wand store again.

Black Wand shop:

Go back into the close-up of the compartments in the front of the counter.

At the bottom left in the right box you will find a magnet. There are 2 magnets. Take 1 of the 2 Magnets

Leave the store through the door, so that Sam does handle the magnet with Mephistopheles. Back outside in Cornmarket Street you travel back to Radcliffe through the map. Back in the hall of the Radcliffe you enter the office of Susan again.

"Bottomless Cup" trick

Click again with the magic hat cursor on Susan and ..... the Magic Trick screen will appear. So you have to schedule the "Bottomless Cup" trick in the screen. The magnet  is in the inventory bar and Susan's head is in the Sam screen. Do it like this:

  1. Drag the magnet to Sam's right hand.
  2. Drag the yellow cup to Sam's left hand.
  3. Then drag the cup to Sam's right hand.
  4. The key now appears where the cup was.
  5. Click on hand icon 10 (Manipulate right item).
  6. Click on rabbit icon 1 (Derive).
  7. Drag the key to Sam's left hand.
  8. Drag the key to Sam's left sleeve.
  9. The magic wand appears.

Click on the magic wand and ........ see how Sam performs the "Bottomless Trick" and obtains the key from Susan's file cabinet.

Sam now has Susan's key, but now she still has to get Susan out of the office to look in to the file cabinet. You can try to trick Susan again to bring another cup of coffee to Headley, but that doesn't work. So click on Susan again with the magic hat cursor and then browse through the magic book to the "Super Gross Out Self Healing Wound" page. Left click on the page and ..... Sam reports that this is the good trick to get Susan out of the office. The trick is that Sam simulates a medical emergency, but she needs a few items to perform the trick properly. Go, via the map, back to Oxford Center and then to the:

Black Wand store:

To the right of the Game Machine, where you found the Deadalus mystery in Chapter 1, is a narrow Shop shelf.

That narrow cupboard is also full of things that a magician should always have in his / her top hat.

Zoom in on the narrow rack. You will then see the top 2 compartments of the cupboard in close-up. In the upper section there are 2 tubes of fake blood (Stage Blood). Take a tube of counterfeit blood and get out of the close-up again.

Zoom in again on the compartments in the front of the counter.

On the top shelf, in the right compartment, are 2 fake thumbs. Take the left Fake Thumb. At the bottom of the left compartment is a bottle of Spirit Glue. Also take the bottle of Sprit Glue glue. Get out of the close-up. Exit the store through the store door again to pay Mephistopheles for the things you've packed, and then go back to Radcliffe.

Radcliffe hospital:

Back in the hall of the Radcliffe, click on the Staff kitchen door to enter the kitchen. In the kitchen we are going to make some preparations to be able to play the "Super Gross Out Self Healing Wound" trick on Susan Whittier.

Above the kitchen counter and below the kitchen cupboards, a first-aid kit hangs on the wall.

View the first aid kit with your eye. Then click with the action cursor on the first aid kit and ...... Sam takes the first aid kit from the wall and hides the box behind the tray, which is on the left against the wall. Sam does this because it is not the intention that Susan will soon be able to take the first aid kit. You must now combine a few items in inventory with each other and you do that by taking one item, right-click, from inventory and then left-clicking on the other item. Open the inventory. Right-click in inventory on the tube of fake blood. The tube of fake blood is on the Hand.

Left click on the fake thumb to use the fake blood on the thumb. Sam says she has to make sure that the fake blood stays on the thumb.

So right-click on the bottle of Spirit Glue and then left-click on the thumb and .....

Now Sam is ready to hit Susan with the "Super Gross Out Self Healing Wound" trick. So leave the kitchen again and go back to:

Susan Whittier:

In Susan's office you click Susan again with the magic hat cursor and ..... the now well-known magician  screen reappears. Sam reports that she only has to schedule the 1st part of the "Super Gross Out Self Healing Wound" trick. In the Sam screen is the letter opener (Letter opener) from Susan. Do the following:

  1. Drag the letter opener to Sam's left hand.
  2. Click on hand icon 2. Click on rabbit icon 1.
  3. Click again on hand icon 2.
  4. Click on the magic wand and watch Sam pretending to have cut her thumb.

Susan is fooled and leaves to find a first aid box. Sam is now alone in the office but Susan will not stay away long, so you have to act quickly. On the left wall is the Filing cabinet and next to the file cabinet is the large copier.

Take Susan key from inventory and then click on the file cabinet. Sam retrieves the Request for the Experiment from the file cabinet. You see the document in close-up. Get out of the close-up quickly. The document is stored in inventory, but Sam cannot keep it. Sam must make a copy of the document. Fortunately there is a copier next to the file cabinet. Right-click in inventory on the just-caught document and then left-click on the copier and ..... Sam makes a copy of the document and she is just finished with it when Susan returns.

Susan has found a first aid box and gives it to Sam and Sam leaves the office quickly. Sam now bumps into Malik in the corridor.

Malik is the 6th student who volunteered for the Styles experiment.

Sam speaks to Malik, but he really doesn't want to talk with Sam. Sam insists and you get talk options. Use all options. Malik is somewhat surly and he really doesn't want to answer Sam's questions. But Sam still gets the following out of him:

Malik also studies neurobiology and he had already heard of Dr. Styles when he was in high school. Malik has made a bit of a study of Dr. Styles and he admires him But since Styles has not published anything of interest since the car accident, Malik has lost his admiration for Styles. Malik believes that Styles owes the world something and should continue with his brain research.

Malik found the experiment strange, but he does not want to explain exactly why he found the experiment strange. According to Malik, it was a normal experiment in itself. And also that the students had muscle pain after their dream is quite normal. Malik was impressed by Styles himself who, to Malik's surprise, came across as a normal person. Sam also invites Malik to the meeting at noon, but Malik just walks away without saying anything else.

Go back to:

Dread Hill House:

Enter the house through the front door and then continue straight to the basement and enter the Main Lab again. Zoom in again on the Filing cabinet and then open the C-drawer. Take the "Condolence Card" from the relevant folder from the C-drawer.

The Condolence Card is a postcard and is sent by the staff of the neurobiology department. Sam wants to know which of the staff members have signed the card and which have not. Close all close-ups. Dive in the inventory and then left click on the Condolence Card. The card opens and you can see the signatures of the staff who signed the card. Close the close-up screen.

Open the inventory again and now right-click on the Condolence Card to take it from the inventory. The card is then on the Hand. Open the inventory again and left click on the Phone list, which Sam had already found here in the lab for the first time. The Telephone List and the Condolence Card now appear together in the close-up screen.

On the telephone list you see all the names of all staff members of the neurobiology department. The names of the staff members who have co-signed the card are on the card. Now cross out the names on the telephone list that are also mentioned on the Condolence Card. You do this by clicking on the names of the Phone List.

There are 2 names left and that is Dr. Styles and Abram Linkweller and Sam conclude that Linkweller must be the enemy of Styles, in the neurobiology department. Close the close-up screen. If all went well, and that would have been if you have followed my walkthrough exactly so far, then you have now fulfilled all the tasks that Sam had received from Styles. Just press the P-key on your keyboard to open the "Chapter Progress" screen.

In the screen you can read how many percent of all tasks you have now completed. You see that you now only have to solve the 2nd part of the "The Betrayer's Price" riddle. You have now completed all other tasks for the full 100%. If you now also solve the riddle, your bonus for Chapter 2 will also be 100%. So you now have to solve the Daedalus mystery. Sam already has 4 puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces are the "Jigsaw" pieces that Sam found in Chapter 1. Sam needs to find the 5t puzzle piece and that is the Winden piece.

Complete the Daedalus riddle:

Travel, through the map, back to the center of Oxford. Sam ends up at the bus stop in front of the Carfax Tower. Enter Queen Street and see .... The sign above the Windy Dog pub is now lit, as a sign that the pub is now open. So click with your Exit cursor on the door of the pub, under the sign, and Sam enters the pub.

The Windy Dog Pub:

Sam is warmly welcomed by the bartender. The Windy Dog pub is not exactly a trendy pub for students. There are 2 fairly dull middle-aged customers present in the pub. Sam can't help it that her eyes are instantly drawn to a huge silver Hunting Horn, which is glistening on a round pillar next to the bar

Click with your magnifying cursor on the hunting horn to view the thing in close-up. Sam is then behind the horn, so at Sam's belly is the mouthpiece (Horn cap) of the hunting horn. Left click on the mouthpiece and Sam tries if she can get a sound out of the horn

.

Sam does not manage to produce any recognizable horn sound for some e reason, so she is heartily laughed at by the bartender and the 2 pub tigers. Now talk to the bartender and use, as always, all the options you get.

The bartender cannot or will not tell anything about the Daedalus Club. The name of the pub comes from the name of the ship of the original owner of the pub. The original owner was a ship's captain and the name of his barge was "Windy Dog". The Horn also comes from the ship and was blown when danger threatened. If you manage to get a sound from the horn then the ghost of the captain will appear and you can make a wish. Sam tells the bartender that she thinks part of the mouthpiece is gone. The bartender says he has to clean the mouthpiece 100 times a day and then he gives Sam the cleaned mouthpiece.

Zoom again in  on the Horn. Then take the Mouthpiece from inventory and left click again on the Horn Cap and ...... Sam has the Mouthpiece in her mouth and she blows again on the horn and now a nice dark sound comes out of the horn. Sam receives applause from the bartender and the 2 pub tigers and she makes her wish. To the surprise of those present, Sam wishes for a "gold piece". However, the bartender understands what Sam means and he gives her a postcard of the Christ Church Cathedral.

View the postcard. The title on the postcard says "The Trial of Archbishop Cranmer, Christ Church Cathedral"

Close the close-up screen. Open the map and go back to:

Christ Church Cathedral:

Sam arrives in the courtyard of the cathedral again. Continue to the pond and the sign that protrudes in the right-hand lawn.

Behind the right lawn is the entrance to the Christ Church Cathedral. Enter through the entrance.

Sam ends up in the church hall and a guide is already waiting for her. Sam thinks that this might be the place "where souls choose their destiny," as described in the Daedalus riddle. Talk to the Guide.

The guide is practicing his guide talk and he asks if Sam wants to play the tourist and then ask him questions about the church. So that the guide can check whether he knows the answer to all difficult questions. Sam wants to do this, so ask the guide all the questions you get and who knows .... maybe you learn something from it too. The most important thing the guide says is that the legend tells that Judas himself sometimes appears at the altar. The guide himself has his doubts but on the other hand .... it must almost be Judas because his belt has a small purse. When you have asked the guide everything, the conversation will automatically end.

At the back of the room is the Altar. Click with your exit cursor on the Altar and ..... Sam walks on to the Altar. The Baptism pool is in front of the altar. The font is covered with a metal plate. Look at the font with your eye and ..... Sam walks up the font and then says that something is under the metal plate. Click on the metal plate and .... it sounds hollow.

To the right there is a door in the wall and to the right of the door is a Lever on the wall. Left click on the Lever and ..... Sam goes to the Lever and she pulls the Lever down and ..... your screen goes black for a moment but then you see that the metal plate in the font has disappeared. The baptism pool font is now filled with water, and it will undoubtedly be "Holy Water". There is a Bag floating in the pool.

Take the bag from the pool and ..... from the bag Sam takes the 5th piece of the puzzle

Now Sam has the 5 puzzle pieces and you can puzzle those 5 pieces together.

Open the inventory and then left click on the Puzzle pieces (Jigsaw). The 5 puzzle pieces appear in close-up.

You now have to puzzle the 5 pieces together. Right click on a piece to rotate the piece.

Left click on a piece and then hold the piece to drag it across the screen. it's not difficult so puzzle the  pieces together.

When you have put the 5 pieces together and the whole thing is at length in your screen, then right-click to rotate the whole thing so that Sam can read the text.

Sam then reports that there is a REBUS, a picture riddle,  and that she must solved it now. You don't have to do anything else but solve the rebus for yourself now. You have to master the English Language (Or the German Language if you have the German version of the game).

The solution of the Rebus is therefore as follows:

Car + Ax + F = Carfax.
Flower - FL + T = Tower.
Bone - B + PH = Phone.

So it says: Carfax Tower Phone ... so the red telephone booth at the Carfax Tower !.

Close the inventory. Here at the altar the map doesn't work, so walk back to the right ...... But Sam first closes the pool again and then walks back to the right. Now you can open the map, so do that and travel back to the:

Carfax Tower:

Click with your magnifying cursor on the red telephone booth and Sam enters the cell. Click on the telephone receiver to pick it up.

  • Sam must now enter a telephone number, but which one? Sam has had to solve 5 riddles and they have given her 5 puzzle pieces.
  • The number that Sam must enter therefore consists of 5 digits. The guide told Sam about Judas, who seems to be appearing at the altar.
  • Judas has 5 letters. The phone keys are both number and letter keys. Now click on the 5 telephone keys that spell the letters of the name Judas.
  • So click on the keys: 5, 8, 3, 2, 7 and ....... A voice congratulates Sam on solving the Daedalus Riddle and a Golden Coin falls out of the telephone into the coin box.
  • The gold coin is Sam's reward for solving the mystery. Take the Golden Coin from the coin tray.

The image on one side of coin is the House of Parliament in London. Left click on the coin to flip the coin. On the other side of the coin is a picture of St. Paul's Cathedral, also in London.

Close all close-ups and .... Sam leaves the telephone booth and goes back to St. Edmund Hall because it is almost noon, so time for the students' meeting.

It now goes on automatically to the end of this chapter ....

Helena, Angela, Malik, Harvey, Charles and Sam decide to do further research and they form an alliance and call themselves the "Lamb's Club". There is an intense discussion about Dr. Styles and the experiment. The 5 students believe that there's something wrong with Styles, but Sam does not agree with that.

Sam clearly states that she no longer wants to hear gossip that concerns Dr. Styles. According to Sam, Styles is completely normal and his experiment was requested by him and approved by the head of the neurology department. That Styles is somewhat strange, seems to make sense to Sam after what happened. After all, the man lost his young wife in the car accident and did not emerge from it himself without damage. According to Sam, the strange lines that have been painted on the athletics track have nothing to do with the experiment and are probably the result of a joke.

Chapter 2 is now finished and Chapter 3 is starting. In Chapter 3 you play as Dr. David Styles.

If Chapter 3 doesn't start for you it means that you haven't reach 100% of all the tasks you had to do in Chapter 2. You then must figure out what you have missed and go do that
