Chapter 2: The Senate:

Tower Bridge

Mary and Oscar have arrived at Tower Bridge and Oscar crawls back into Mary's warm pockets. The Tower Bridge is apparently being renovated because Mary is standing in front of a wooden working scaffold. On the right is a lot of metal brackets and 1 of those brackets is standing upright. Take the metal Bracket.

Click on the ladder of the scaffolding and Mary climbs up the scaffolding via the ladder.

On top of the scaffold we see that the bridge is really gone, but Mary has to go to the other side. Fortunately 1 of the steel bridge cables is still hanging

Take the Metal bracket from inventory and click the thing on the Steel Cable and Mary slides via the cable to the other side of the Thames and ....

....we see a girl standing on top of the Tower and we see that Ethan also reaches the Tower Bridge.

After this scene you walk on to the gate and ........

We meet the ghost of Scotsman William Wallace,  who "lives" here in the Tower.

Use all the conversation options you get. Don't forget to ask William about "The Oracle".

During this conversation we also experience about Lou, the girl who is staggering on top of the tower. So Oscar's name is actually "Oscar the Pitiful". William tells that "The Senate" resides in the dilapidated "Theatre". But William can't get out of here because Lou, the girl who stands on top of the tower and who is a big fan of William, has his skull. Lou can't see Ghosts but she wants to meet William. So Lou is about to jump down from the tower, thus becoming a ghost herself. If Mary can stop Lou and return William's Skull to William, William will take Mary and Oscar to the Theater. When you have used all conversation options, the conversation will end automatically.

We will call Ghost William Willy in the sequel. To the left of Mary is a Heap of gas bottles. Grab a gas bottle.

You will also see the Gate. Look at the "Drawbridge ramp", inside the gate and the pulled up Gate's Portcullis and listen to what Mary says about it. To the left and right of the gate are hanging scaffolding boards. Look at the left scaffolding board and also the right scaffolding board .....Unfortenaly the boards are hanging too high.

Near the left scaffolding plank hangs a broken winch. Look at the broken winch. Attached to the winch is the rope that holds the gate up. Walk to the right. To the right of the gate is a palette with boxes and a pallet with bags of Charcoal Briquettes (Palette with briquettes) on it. Grab a bag of Briquettes.

Against the side of the Tower is a Souvenirs stall. Continue to the front of the Souvinir stall

Make sure you're in the close-up view of the souvenir stall.

Then take the bottle of Tower Bridge Whiskey and the Tower Bridge matches from the souvenir stall. Walk down to get out of the close-up of the stall. In front of the souvenir stall is a large mountain of cement powder. You can reach the top of the mountain via a wooden bridge with a rail.

However, do not climb up the mountain of cement yet, but continue to the right. Mary is then right next to the wooden bridge and behind the tower.

Walk further down, via the green platform, to the yellow wooden platform.

An altar has been set up on the yellow wooden platform. It's an altar for a construction worker who had an accident and died here.

The central item is that construction worker's Helmet. Grab the Helmet of a dead construction worker.

Go back to the souvenir stall and now walk up the Wooden Bridge and walk all the way up.

Mary is then on top of the Cement Powder Mountain and there is also a Mine Cart here.

A Spanner hangs on the side of the mine cart. Take the Spanner. Take the Construction Worker Helmet from inventory and click it on the cement powder mountain to fill the helmet with cement powder. Run back down. You stop halfway on the wooden bridge. A Hot Lamp hangs from the iron bracket arm. Mary needs that Hot lamp, so click with Oscar on the Extremely hot lamp to get the lamp.

When Oscar has taken the lamp, walk back to the left of the souvenir stall.  Behind the pallet, where the barrels are on, you see that a wooden ladder sticks out on the quay wall. Make sure Mary is on the edge of the quay and in front of the ladder (Sluice ladder) and then click on the ladder and ......

Mary climbs down the ladder and she ends up on a platform above the water of the Teems .

Take the Helmet with cement powder from inventory and click it on the water of the Thames and ......

You then see how Mary fills the helmet with Thames water and you then have a Helmet with liquid concrete. Climb back up the quay ladder (Sluice ladder) and go back to the cement powder mountain. Climb back up to the mine cart via the wooden bridge. Back on top of the cement mountain click on the mine cart and .........

Mary pushes the mine cart down and the cart races over the rail to the gate and dumps its load at the end and then the cart returns to the top of the cement pile. Oscar thinks Mary can use this knowledge to catapult him on top of the gate's scaffolding board. But then the cart has to go faster down the mountain.

Pick up Oscar and click with him on the mine cart ....... But Oscar has no appetite to sit in the cart and says that only drunks or children willingly sit in such a dangerous mine cart. Right click to put Oscar away again. At the top left, combine the Whiskey with the Hot Lamp. So pick up the bottle of Whiskey and click it on the Extremely hot lamp and ....

Oscar "sniffs" the hot whiskey vapors and ends up in the mine cart ......

After the scene Oscar is in the mine cart and Mary is standing in front of the souvenir stall. The mine cart needs to get more speed, so walk up the cement mountain again, to the mine cart. Pick up the Gas bottle and click it on the mine cart ...... Mary ties the gas bottle to the mine cart. Now take the Wrench / Spanner (Heavy wrench) and click it on the Gas bottle (Impressive rocket engine) and ...........

The gas bottle blows Oscar in the cart over the rails and ......

...... Oscar ends up on the left scaffolding plank, next to the gate, and he then lowers the portcullis of the gate.

Mary, Oscar and Willy are then at the gate. Click with the ladder cursor on the Portcullis and .....

Mary climbs up through the gate and she is then on the right scaffolding. Walk up to the right and then click on the ladder to climb further up and .......

Mary is almost all the way up and she has a short chat with Lou, who threatens to throw herself down. Lou has pushed all the ladders down so Mary can't climb up any further. Mary has to assemble a ladder herself to be able to climb further up to Lou. One of the Tower's huge windows hangs horizontally from a cable here. Continue to the window. Click with your magnifying glass on the hanging window and ....

....a cutscene shows  the Crane Ship that keeps the window horizontal. After the cutscene, click again on the window and then listen to Mary ....... If this window were upright, Mary could climb further up via the window. The scaffolding planks continue into the Tower here, so walk into the Tower via the scaffolding planks.

A rope ladder hangs from the transverse plank, but don't go down the rope ladder now. Continue over the scaffolding planks to the end. At the end, a  Curiously mounted cannon hangs from the steel bridge construction . Click on the Cannon and see ...... the cannon is hanging exactly above the Crane Ship. Take the Helmet full of liquid concrete from inventory and click it on the Cannon and Mary pours the cement into the cannon and while we wait for the concrete to harden we listen to a conversation between Mary and Oscar.

Mary then announces that the cement has set and Oscar disappears again. Take the Matchbox from inventory and click it on the Cannon and .......

The cannon explodes and falls, ramming a hole in the crane vessel which then sinks to the bottom of the Thames. This will put the large Window upright.

So follow the planks back to the left and then out of the Tower again and see .... the large window is now standing upright against the scaffolding.

Click on the window with your ladder cursor and Mary climbs further up via the window and she ends up 1 floor below Lou. The platform Mary landed on is quite shaky. Lou is now standing above Mary on the railing of the scaffold. Talk to Lou through the conversation options and do it the right way ...... so now use the correct options here to make Lou get so mad that she throws Willy's Skull down into the Thames.

Say, "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" and then say "So, are you going to jump or not?". Make Lou angrier and angrier via: "Jump then, you still don't dare, eh!" and then "I thing you're just a cowardy custard". Then continue with "Haven't you jumped yet?" and "But one giant step for mankind........". Continue with "I know kittens that are braver than you" and then yell "Jump! Jump! Jump!" and.........

...in anger Lou throws Willy's skull into the Thames and then she climbs down causing the scaffolding to collapse completely. Willy is happy that Mary managed to save Lou, but he's not so happy that his skull is now at the bottom of the Thames. Talk to Willy via the conversation options.......Mary is still on top of the platform with Lou by the large window. Willy has to help get Mary and Lou down. Oscar points Willy to the large gear wheel, at the altar of the crashed construction worker, and Willy goes there and notices that he can turn that wheel. Willy then lowers the bridge section with the large wheel. At the bottom left you will now also get the Willy Icon.

Mary and Lou are still high on top of the platform against the large window stands. Click with your ladder cursor on the large window and the two girls end up one floor lower. Walk over the plank back into the tower and then click on the Rope ladder, which hangs down from the cross plank.

The two girls climb down the rope ladder and end up on top of the bridge section, which William has just hoisted down.

At the bottom left you now also have the William icon. Pick up Willy and click with him on the white edge of the Drawbridge ramp and ........

Willy turns the big wheel and this lowers the bridge and Mary and Lou end up safely all the way down, with Willy.

Lou can't see Willy so give her greetings from Willy via "Handsome William sends you his best regards" and .......

........Lou says goodbye and then ........ Ethan appears with his axe.

Ethan attacks Mary with his axe but William intervenes and hurls Ethan into the Thames ..........

Mary then got the axe from Ethan. So we are back in front of the big gate. William's skull is at the bottom of the Thames, in the lock. In order to grab the skull, the water has to be pumped out of the lock. On the left is the Sluice winch with which the lock gates are closed and opened.

Walk to the Sluice winch and click on it and .......... Mary reports that she is really not strong enough to turn the Sluice winch. So use Willy on the Sluice winch ........ but .... Mary reports that Willy cannot grab the Sluice winch because the thing is not a "dead" thing. Store Willy again and then pick up the Axe and ram with the axe on the Sluice winch and ......

Mary rams the axe into one of the handles of the Sluice winch. The Axe does have an association with death, so Willy can grab the axe.

So click with Willy on the Axe that is stuck in here and ....

.... Willy comes running to give the Sluice winch a firm ram which makes the thing turn and which closes the sluice door..........

Walk back to the right and to the Sluice ladder.

Climb down the Lock Ladder again. Mary ends up on the decking again, just above the water. Now follow the ramps to the right, to the steam pump.

The pump is the thing on the left and it is powered by the steam engine. Try to open the Boiler lid of the boiler ..... however, the door is too hot. Take Oscar and click with Oscar on the boiler lid and ...... Oscar then opens the door of the hot boiler. Take the sack with briquettes and throw it into the boiler and .......

...........the coals produce more steam and this makes the pump pump harder and.....the water is pumped out of the lock.........

After the cutscene, walk back to the left, until Mary is again on the platform under the Lock Ladder. Now climb further down via the ladder that protrudes at the end of the deck and ...... Mary ends up at the bottom of the now dry lock. To the right of the ladder is a "dead" barrel and a skeleton. Willam's Skull is in front of the barrel. Pick up William's Skull and ........

Mary immediately gives the skull to Willy and then we finally make our way to the Theater where the Senate resides.

Theater:

Arriving at the Theater we see that it is all rather neglected. Oscar spots an open window and he and Willy go in through that window, leaving Mary behind in the neglected garden. In the middle of the garden is the dilapidated fountain. To the right is the collapsed staircase flanked by 2 female statues. On the head of the left statue sits a haughty peacock (Conceited songbird).

In front of the left statue are a few colored feathers. Behind the feathers is half of the yellow front door and near that door half is an Incomplete Pharaoh Baseball Set . In front of the right statue are the Remains of a dog house and just in front of that doghouse is the skeleton of a Dog. At the bottom right are 2 Useless chicken clucking on top of the fence.

On the stairs is a Nymphomaniac cock, who is quite horny. Continue to the collapsed stairs and then walk up the stairs and .............. The horny rooster is blocking Mary's way and you now also see that Oscar is standing on the "stairs". Look at the Rooster and ....... Mary tells that the Rooster is in love with the Peacock, who is on top of the left statue. Walk back to the left and now click on the Doghouse. You come into the close-up of the doghouse. Mary tells that the chickens lay their eggs in the doghouse but that there are now no eggs in it

In this close-up you can now also see the skeleton of the dog, the colored feathers and the baseball set. The dog skeleton is wearing a dog harness. Click on the dog skeleton to get the Dog harness. When you have taken the Dog Harness, click on the colored Feathers and ....... Mary then walks to the Feathers to pick them up. Then also take the Baseball set.

However, the baseball set has no ball. From the yellow door half, walk to the left, so past the fountain and ..... Mary ends up in the corner on the left behind the fountain. Here is a wooden Darning egg, which is used to put socks on it. There is also a broken make-up table.

Take the Darning egg. Click on the Rotten make-up dresser and ...... Mary takes a tube of Superfix adhesive cream and Theatre make-up from the drawer of the table. Behind Mary leans a gun against the edge of the fountain ..... it is Amanda's gun, who you remember from the Jack Keane game. Take Amanda's Gun ..... there is only 1 bullet left in the gun. Continue to the right. Behind the clothes rack is a chair and on the chair is Indian sport fishing equipment. Grab the Indian Fishing Rod.

Go back to the stairs. The Baseball set, the Gun and the fishing rod are items that you don't really need in the game, but you can try to scare that horny rooster away with them. Walk up the stairs again, so that you get into the close-up of the rooster again. Then click with the baseball set, the gun and the fishing rod on the rooster and see what happens ..........

However, yhe rooster will not be scared away with these 3 items. Mary will have to come up with something else.......

Walk back to the left to get out of the close-up. Unfortunately, the rooster is only interested in the haughty Peacock, so the beast remains on the stairs. But perhaps we can change that by making the chickens more attractive to the rooster. Click on the Doghouse again to get a close-up view of it. In inventory combine the Darning egg with the theater make-up  to make a fake chicken egg from the stopper egg. Take the Marked hen's egg from inventory and then put the egg in the doghouse and see what happens.....

....one of the roaming chickens falls for it and runs into the doghouse to hatch the egg. Take the Chicken in the chicken trap. In inventory combine the colored Feathers with the Superfix adhesive cream and then you combine the glued Feather with adhesive cream with the dog harness. Finally, combine the feathered harness with the Ugly chicken with maternal inclinations and ..... You have made a beautiful chicken.

Step out of the close-up of the doghouse. Walk up the stairs again to get back to the rooster. Then take the chicken from inventory and click it on the rooster and .Mary puts the chicken on the stairs. The chicken runs away and the rooster goes after the chicken . Oscar immediately runs further upstairs so go after Oscar ..... so continue up the destroyed stairs and Mary ends up on the roof of the theater entrance. Run further up the arched roof of the entrance, where  the broken window is that William entered through.

Climb in through the destroyed window ......

Mary first puts the basketball set, the rifle and the fishing rod on the roof because she does not need these 3 items. We are then:

Inside the theatre:

Infirmary room:

Oscar tells that we have ended up in the infirmary room of the theater and this room reminds Mary of home. Mary feels responsible for her sister's death. That is why she could no longer live with her parents and she left home. Mary wants to give up the search for her sister, but Oscar convinces her to continue. After all, it was her sister who cried out for help in a dream. Meanwhile, the wacky Prof. Ashcroft confers with her even more wacky butler Ethan about their next steps. Ashcroft needs the energy of spirits for a soul transfer, Mary apparently attracts spirits so it is important that Ethan stays close to Mary.

After the cutscenes we are back with Mary in the infirmary of the Theater. Look around.

To the right behind Mary you see the Stage door. Click on the stage door and ....... Mary tries the door, but the door is locked .... Mary then automatically looks through the Keyhole and sees that the key is in the door on the outside. There is a gap under the Stage door, through which you could slide something. There is a cupboard by the window. Open the glass doors of the cabinet. There is a drawer in the cabinet. Pull open the drawer and then take the Over-large syringe from the drawer.

Walk down to get out of the close-up. On the left is a large Defibrillator Machine. In front of the Defibrillator is a full bedpan on the floor.

Use the newly found syringe on the bedpan to fill the syringe with the liquid in the syringe.

Walk back to the Stage door. Do not click on the door again, but take the now filled syringe and click with it on the keyhole and.....

.....with the syringe Mary then pushes the key out of the keyhole. The key is now on the floor, but still on the wrong side of the door.

In the middle of the room, a Sword of a sword-swallower sticks into the floor. Now grab the Sword.

To the right of the door is a sofa and in that sofa are coil springs (Sofa spring). Take a Coil spring from the sofa.

Combine the Sword with the sofa spring and ..... you then have an Improvised inductor.

There is a Dummie doll on the floor by the cupboard. Insert your improvised inductor into the Dummie doll.

The inducer then sticks out of the Dummie's mouth and against the door.

Walk back to the Defibrillator. There is a Crank on the left side of the Defibrillator.

Click the Crank to charge the Defibrillator. Then pick up Oscar and use him on the charged Defibrillator and .....

Mary shocks Oscar with the paddles and he is now charged.

Walk back to the Dummy and use the charged Oscar on the inducer which is in the Dummy and ......

the "Magnetic" Oscar then make sure that the Key comes under the door to Mary and Mary will pick up the key automatically.

So take the Key from inventory and click it on the Keyhole of the door and ..... the door will open.

So walk through the door out of the sick room and ...... we end up at the:

Catwalk and Stage:

Oscar tells us we're behind the stage here. The stage is behind the huge iron curtain, which you can see hanging further up.

William reports that he can lift that iron curtain. Continue to the corner behind Willy and then cross the bridge to the other side.

On the other side, go through the doorway in the corner (Stairs to the stage) and .....

Mary  ends up on the stage downstairs. Continue to the left until Mary is in the center of the stage and behind the huge iron stage curtain. Look at the iron curtain ...... Mary notices that a few actors have been crushed under the iron curtain. Pick up William and click with him on the iron curtain and ......

William pushes up the iron curtain and ..... we meet the ghosts of the crushed actors and these are the Senate Senators.

Talk to the actor ghosts through all conversation options.

All these actors died while performing a play about Julias Caesar in the Senate. The ghosts of the actors can't get out of here because they can't remember the very last sentence of the play. Mary tells that her sister Emily had an accident while going to Scotland by train. Maybe she should go back there to find Emily's ghost. However, the actors say that there is hardly a train to Scotland, because the tracks are cursed. But perhaps William can help here. Mary receives a metal clothes hanger,  a gold tooth, a bundle of money and tickets from the Senate. Close with "See you later" and ....... Ethan has also arrived at the theater and hears what Mary said aloud about the train journey to Scotland. We then end up in:
