Chapter 6: The Channel Wood Age:

The Channel wood Age is a swamp. On  top of the trees is the Tree House Village which consists of two levels and on the top level of this tree house village are the huts of Sirrus and Achenar where you will find the last red and blue pages.. In this Age it is all about Water power.

You are standing on a wooden path. The wooden path carries the pipe system through witch you must lead the water to several points to power up the elevators with witch you must go up to the tree house village. The wooden path has a lot of crossroads with switches and levers. With the levers of the switches you can set the switches to the right or to the left to lead the water through the pipes to where you want it to go. But the first thing you have to do is make the water go through the pipes and to do this you must first go to the Windmill

The Windmill

From your starting point go forward to the first crossroad and the first switch. 

Ignore the switches on the crossroads for now.  Take the left path to the next switch and there take the right path to the next switch

At the 3rd crossroad take the left path...in the distance you now can see the windmill that stands high upon a hill. 

Now just follow the paths further to the windmill

Follow the path further up the hill to the entrance of the windmill and go inside

Inside the windmill stand the large water tank and the engine that fills the tank with water from the swamp but the water from the tank doesn't go into the pipe system now. The engine has red lever and the pipe on the tank has a red turning wheel. I didn't have to do it but it could be that you first must yank the red lever of the engine to get water into the large tank......Again.....I didn't had to this in my game. Zoom in on the red turning wheel that's on the pipe and turn it open to get the water flow started through the pipes....You hear the water go through the pipes now and you can also read this

Step back and turn around and go outside again and follow the path back to the first crossroad witch has Switch 1

From Switch 1 the path goes to the left but also to the right. The right hand path goes to the Spiral Staircase tree. Look at Switch 1. All switches are on crossroads of the path and they have a red lever with witch you can set the switch to the left or to the right, to make the water go left or right through the pipes. If you look down at Switch 1 you'll see that it is no set to the left, so the water now goes to the Spiral Staircase Tree. You must change this. 

Click the red lever to set switch 1 to the right. The water will now go through the left pipe to switch 2

You can take a look at the Spiral Staircase Tree but the door of the spiral staircase is locked on the inside, so you can't climb up the Spiral Staircase now. 

So go back to Switch 1 and then follow the path to Switch 2

Switch 2 is already set to make the water in the pipes go to the right, to switch 3, so leave Switch as it is now

So leave Switch 2 as it is now and go to Switch 3. 

Switch 3 is also making the water in the pipes go to the right, to switch 4, so leave it as it is now and go on to Switch 4. 

At Switch 4 you see Lift 1 on the right and if you look to the left you can just make out Lift 3 in the distance

Switch 4 is set to the left, so the water goes through the right pipe to Lift 1 and so it must be right now. 

So go to Lift 1 and open the door of Lift 1

Step inside Lift 1, turn around, close the door and pull the Lever and......

.....Lift 1 takes you up to Level 1 of the Tree House Village

Tree house Village Level 1:

This Level 1 of the Tree House Village consists of rectangular huts and a number of large Round "Divide Huts". The huts are connected by rickety wooden bridges. A "Divide Hut" is in fact a crossroad, but there are also a few "End Divide Huts".  You have to find a LEVER in one of the round "Divide huts".  And that lever is quite difficult to find

Step out the lift and go over the bridge to the first round hut. You can enter the round huts but you can also stay outside to walk around them. You have to go further to the rectangular hut that is to the right of this first round hut. So inside of outside the round hut go over the right bridge to the rectangle hut........

......and then go on to the next rectangle hut.

 Inside the second rectangle hut go leave this hut on the right side to cross over the right bridge to the next round hut

Then go left to the next round hut......You see the Spiral Staircase on the right and on top of that spiral staircase is Lift 2

...in this round hut you'll will find the LEVER. Go to that Lever and pull it and......At lift 2 the door at the top of the spiral staircase goes open

Now you have to go to Lift 2, via the huts and this can be quite confusing so you can get lost. Turn around and go back over the bridge to the previous round hut

Go right to the rectangle hut and in that hut turn right and go to the next round hut

Go left to the next rectangle hut and..........

.....turn right in the Rectangle Hut and you will continue to progress through 2 round huts" until you are back in a Rectangle hut.

Turn left in the rectangle hut and go to the next rectangle hut and.....

In that rectangle hut turn right and.......you are at the Spiral Staircase and Lift 2. Go there 

Lift 2 has no power so you must first go down to Switch 1 to make the water go to the engine of lift 2, at the base of the spiral staircase. 

So go down via the spiral staircase and when you're down open the door with the lever and then follow the path to Switch 1

 

Switch 1 is set to take the water through the pipes to Switch 2 but you must change that now. 

Click the red lever to set the switch to the left, to let the water go through the right pipe, to the engine at the spiral staircase

Go back to the spiral staircase and climb back up to Lift 2. Open the door of lift 2, step in, close the door and click the lever and.....

Elevator 2  takes you up to Level 2 of the Tree House Village.

Tree Houses Level 2: 

 The Blue Page and the Red Page

Achenar's hut

 Open the elevator door and get out of the elevator. Follow the wacky wooden bridge path to the hut of Achenar. 

You are at the Hut of Achenar and stand in front of an iron gate and the front door of the hut. That iron gate is locked from the other side, so open the front door and enter the hut. The ugly face of Achenar is projected in the hut and he's talking to you in a funny language. Behind the nails bed is the back door, so leave this hut through the back door and then go right through the hall to be outside, behind the hut.

In the distance you see Achenar's rectangle shed. Go to the shed and enter it

In the shed you find the blue page but don't take it with you now. Of course you can take the blue page now but I leave it here because I first go look for the red page. In the other corner stand the imager that projects Achenar's holo image in the hut with the nails bed

You can activate the imager with the buttons to project different images of Achenar in the hut with the nails bed. 

Sirrus's Hut

Go back to Lift 2, via Achenar's hut or via the iron gate that you can open up from this side

Behind lift 2 you see the hut of Sirrus. Go to Sirrus's hut and enter it

You'll find the Red Page in one of the drawers and on the bed post lies half of a note from Atrus. Read that note

It is a piece of a letter from Atrus and it is about his Safe. Atrus tells about one of the Marker Switches on Myst Island and it is the Marker Switch 1 on the quay. 

This Marker Switch1  must be set to the "Off" position. 

Back to Myst: 

Okay....you now decide if you take the red page or the blue page back to Myst first. We are here now, so I'll take the red page to Myst first. So take the Red page from the drawer and go back to Lift 2 and get in. With lift 2 you go back down to level 1 and then you go further down via the spiral staircase to ground level. Go back to Switch 1. You now must make the water go through the pipes to the engine of Lift 3. First set Switch 1 back to the right so that the water will go through the pipes to Switch 2 again.

Now follow the path to Switch 4, via the crossroads at Switch 2 and Switch 3

At switch 4 you now take the left path and you follow it to the end and......

A large piece of the path is gone so you can't go across here. There's also a piece of pipe missing here. 

Across the water the path and the pipe continues to Lift 3 and you see a crank lever on the other side. You must go to that crank to use it the get the missing piece of pipe out to connect both ends of the pipe. But in order to get at the crank you must lead the water through the pipes to Switch 5 and further. So turn around and go back to Switch 3. Switch 3 is set to Switch 4 but you have to change this now. Pull the lever of Switch 3 to set the switch to Switch 5. Then go to Switch 5 and make sure that Switch 5 is set to the right, so that the water will go through the left pipe

The right path is a dead end so now go via the left path to the next junction and the follow the path to the right and.....

.....you come to a missing piece in the path but there's an engine with a lever. 

Via Switch 5 the water is now coming to this engine so it has power now. Use the lever to raise the missing piece of the path from the water

Go follow the path further to the next junction and.....to the left the path goes to Lift 3 but the engine of that lift does not get power now. 

Go follow the path to the right and.....

......at the end you see that you are at that crank lever

Use the crank lever to roll out the missing piece of the pipe.

The water doesn't go through this pipe to Lift 3 yet, so you now must go back to Switch 3 and to Switch 4 to set Switch 3 to Switch 4 and to set Switch 4 to this pipe.

So turn around and follow the paths back to Switch 3

Set Switch 3 to the left so that the water through the pipe goes to Switch 4. Go to Switch 4 and set to the right to make the water go through the left pipe to Lift 3

Okay......now go back to Lift 3, via the Switches 3 and 5 and the paths beyond Switch 5. At lift 3 you can now here the engine running. 

Open the lift door, get in, turn around, close the door and yank down the lift handle and....

......Lift 3 takes you up to the Myst Linking Book, so get out the left and go to the book,  open the book and click in the little screen to zap back to Myst Island

Myst Island:

Library

If you have brought the Red Page from Channel Wood with you then go to the red book and click the red page into the book. 

Then open up the book and listen carefully to Sirrus

You can hear and see Sirrus very well now and he tells that his father, Atrus, has imprisoned him and his brother Achenar each in a different Age. Whether Sirrus or Achenar is the villain son, Atrus does not know. Of course Sirrus says that he is innocent. Sirrus still needs 1 Red Page to be liberated and he tells you to go to a book in the bookcase and to view page 158 in that book. This page contains the instructions on where to find the last Red and Blue pages. He also tells you about a Green Book and warns that you should not click on that Green Book. According to Sirrus that is a "Prison Book".  

When Sirrus is done close the book. You now must decide whether to go back to Channel wood to retrieve the Blue page also. You do not have to do this in order to finish the game correctly, but I'm guessing that you want to get all there is to do out of the game. Going back to Channel Wood means that you must go back to the Boiler Hut to bring the Elevator Tree up from the cave again and then get into the tree again to get down to the Channel Wood Linking book

So leave the library and go back to the boiler hut. Enter the boiler hut. The pilot flame is still burning but the pressure has dropped out of the boiler. So zoom in op the red wheel, again and the turn the wheel clockwise again until it locks to get the fire under the boiler starting again to increase the pressure in the boiler. 

Go out and go to the elevator tree to watch the tree with the opening come up again. Do not get into the tree while it goes up but wait until the tree is all the way up again. Then go back into the boiler hut, zoom in on the red wheel again and turn the wheel counter clockwise to put the fire under the boiler out again. The tree will start going down again so run back to the tree and wait for the opening in the tree is at your height and then quickly get into the tree. The tree brings you down to the cave again where the Channel Wood linking book is on the pillar. Go to the linking book and use it to link back to:

Channel Wood: 

Follow the wooden paths to Switch 1 and turn Switch 1 to the left to make the water go through the right pipe, to Lift 2 on top of the spiral staircase

Go to the Spiral Staircase and climb it up to Lift 2. Step into Lift 2 and go up to level 2 of the tree house village

Step out lift 2 and go to the cabin of Achenar. You can now go through the iron gate to the shed, so do this, enter the shed and now take the Blue Page

Back to Lift 2, step in, go down to level 1 and then go further down via the spiral staircase. Go back to Switch 1 and use the switch to make the water go to lift 3 again

Then follow the paths back to lift 3. You don't have to mess with the other switches again

Lift 3 isn't down because it is still up, so use the lever to bring Lift 3 down

Then get in and take lift 3 up to the Myst Linking Book and....

....use the book again to link back to the Myst Island

Myst : Library

Go to the blue book and put the Blue page in the book and then open the book and listen to Achenar

Achenar tells you that you should not "free" Sirrus from the Red Book. It is all the fault of Sirrus, says Achenar. He needs 1 blue page and  that can be found on this Myst Island. Achenar also tells about the book with patterns and that you must look at the pattern that's on page 158 of that book

Chapter 7: Myst Island:

END GAME

Library

Sirrus and Achenar need 1 more page to be released from there prison. 

Both Sirrus and Achenar have told you to look at the pattern on page 158 of the pattern book that's in the bookcase here. 

So zoom in on the bookcase and take that pattern book out...it's the last book on the middle shelf

The book open up on the pages 157 / 158. If this is not the case with you then scroll through the book to those pages. 

Take a picture of the pattern that's on page 158. You must reproduce that pattern in a minute.

Browse back to the very first page to see a drawing of the fireplace here in the library...you see that you can open up the fireplace

So go to the fireplace and click on the wooden latch and.........

........the grill disappears so step into the fireplace and turn around. 

You are now standing in the fireplace and you see a red button. Click that red button and.....

........a metal panel comes down. Zoom in the panel. The panel has 48 boxes. On this panel you must recreate the pattern that you saw on page 158 of the pattern book

So do this and then click the red button again and......

......turn around and......A secret niche has now open up in the wall and in it are the last red and blue pages and a green linking book

Open up the green book but whatever you do don't not click on the book screen.

You see Atrus, the father of Sirrus and Achenar. Listen carefully to what Atrus has to say

Atrus asks who you are and then he says that you should NOT come to D'ini, at least not yet. Atrus will tell about his 2 sons, Sirrus and Achenar, about his library on Myst and about his books. He tells that he learned from his father, Ghen, the art of writing the Ages and that his 2 sons suddenly plundered all the Ages. In order to determine which of his 2 sons is the most guilty he has locked both of them up in a Prison Age that can only be reached via the Red and the Blue Book. Unfortunately, Atrus is now also stuck in D'ni. There is a page missing from his Myst Linking Book and he asks you to come to him when you have found that page. 

The ENDINGS

Bad ENDING

The game has a Bad Ending and a Good Ending. If you first want to see the BAD ENDING then you I advise you to SAVE YOUR GAME first here

Take the blue or the red page from the self.....It doesn't matter witch page you take but I take the Red Page

Turn around and remove the pattern from the panel and then click the red button again to open up the fireplace

Step out the fireplace and to the red book and put the last red page into the book and........

......STUPID IDIOT THAT YOU ARE.......How could you have thought that Sirrus can be trusted......

You have released Sirrus from his prison, but now HE looks from the library into the Red Book where YOU are now trapped in ... and you CAN NOT EVER GET OUT. 

After Sirrus is done the credits start rolling.....Click the arrow to go to the Main screen and then go the LOAD menu and load your last save to now play ......

THE GOOD ENDING

NB: You can also go through the BAD ENDING with the Blue Page again, but it's pretty much the same as with the red page and Sirrus. 

With the blue page you will free Achenar from his blue book but you will be trapped in there forever.

Okay....you're back in the library where you made your last save. If you did this while you where still in the fireplace then go out of it and leave the library. Atrus has asked you to find the missing page of his linking book and then bring it to him in D'ni. In Channel Wood you have read,  in the cabin of Sirius,  on a partial note from Atrus, that  Marker Switch 1 must be put down.  

So leave the library and go to that marker switch 1 on the quay

Click the lever of the marker switch down and then take the White Page that comes up behind the lever

Go back to the library, open up the fireplace again and step in it. 

Turn around, click the red button again to get the metal panel back down and fill in the correct pattern again on the panel and then click the red button again

Turn around to the green book that's again on the shelf in the nice. Open the book to see Atrus again and now click on Atrus and......

You end up in the:

D'ni Cave (pronounce it as Dunny)

Atrus is writing at his desk, so go to Atrus and....

......The White page comes up...Click the white page to give it to Atrus and......

...Atrus puts the white page in his Myst Linking book and then he disappears to Myst to deal with his two sons.

...You have to wait until Atrus returns here, so go look around in this huge cave for a minute or two and when Atrus has returned at his desk go to him once more

Atrus tells you that he has dealt with his horrible sons and he also tells about his wife Catherine.

The bad news is that Atrus can't get you home, so you must stay on Myst Island until Atrus will need you again. 

So click the Myst Linking book and you will be in the Library of Myst Island again.

Atrus has burned the Red and Blue book, condemning his two sons to live out the rest of there lives in there prison ages

You can't leave Myst Island to return to your own world.

So all you can do now is explore Myst again and to go back to all 4 ages to explore them at your leisure and wait for Atrus to call on you for your assistance again and.....

...... that will be when you go play Myst 2: Riven

THE END......

But Maybe The ENDING Has Not Been Written, but it has in Myst 5 End of Ages
