Chapter 5: Back on
Jungle Island
You have arrived from Plateau Island in the tram station of Jungle Island, which is located at the bottom of the Wahrk Idol in the Jungle.
Turn left and exit the tram and then enter the
wooden elevator in the corner of the platform. You turn around in the elevator
and you see the lift handle again.
Go down the stairs and follow the jungle path
until you are back in the hollow tree.
Go right and follow the path to and through Blue
cave and to the Lagoon.
Then turn around and click on the
ladder and climb up the top path.
Turn around and follow this top
path back to the Wahrk gallows. Then turn left and enter the Cellar in the rock
again through the still open round door.
Moiety Cave:
We are now going to
solve the Recognition Puzzle:
You are back in the circle of
25 stones. In front of you, behind the stones, you see the large
circle in the wall again and in it you see a hatch with a image of a dagger on
it. If you look closely you can see that there is water in the circle. In the
walls left and right you see a gutter.
You see only a quarter of the
circle. In order to see the rest of the stones, you have to turn left or right.
View all the stones first one by one just by clicking on a stone once. You are
then zoomed in on the stone. If you then click on the stone again, the stone
will sink into the ground. But first look at all 25 stones. There is an image of
an animal on each of the stones. You find out that you do not recognize 20 of
these 25 animals. 5 animals you recognize because they are the 5 animals you have
seen so far in the game. 4 in the flesh and one as a shadow when you looked
through the viewer in Ghen's Observation room under the lake of Plateau Island.
Those 5 animals correspond with the 5 Wooden Eyes that you found in Riven. Each Wooden Eye made a specific sound and each Wooden Eye had a D'ni number. So you linked these sounds and numbers to these 5 animals and that's how we arrived at the following series: 1 = Fish; 2 = Beetle; 3 = Frog; 4 = Sunner; 5 = Wahrk.
What you have to do now is to let only
the 5 stones with these animals, sink into the ground and also in this order.
Go 2 steps forward to the hatch
and you are zoomed in on the partly burned Moiety Linking Book.
Then click with your Hand Cursor
again in this screen and............... you arrived in
the:
Moiety Era:
However ........ Just as you want to touch the
book again, to travel back to Jungle Island, an anesthetic arrow is shot in your
neck and you lose consciousness.
2 rebels have shot you, they pick
you up and take you with them. Your screen turns black for a moment and then you
see that the 2 rebels take you in their boat across the lake to the Island with
the Sphere. Your screen will turn black again but then you will regain
consciousness and stare at the ceiling of the room in which the 2 rebels have
brought you. Now just click with the forward hand and ........ you get up and
stand in the room.
Against the left wall is a table
with a scale on it. Past the table is the hallway and the door of the room.
Look through the window outside
and ............. You will see the Moiety village.
You now have to wait for the
return of your cursor and that happens when the guy, who is smoking a cigarette
at the top right, has walked out of the picture. When you have the cursor again,
click down to zoom out, then turn around and go back into the room and walk on
until you cannot go any further. Turn again to the table and walk 1 step closer
to the table and .....
Click on the right-hand book and
this appears in your screen. Click on it to open it but DO NOT CONTINUE.
So this is the Prison Book that looks like a Linking Book to Myst. So this is the book that you received from Atrus to capture Ghen and that was taken away from you upon your arrival at Riven. Do not click in the screen because then it is at once GAME OVER because then you will be trapped in the world that Atrus wrote for Ghen and you cannot get out of it. So close the book again and go back to the black bar below your game screen and click on the middle book. Open the book, it is
Catherine's diary:
You must browse through book and if you want you can read it. The handwriting is almost impossible to read, but you can try to read every page if you really want to do this. You browse through the book by clicking on the bottom half. You have to browse through it because this diary contains the code for the Funnel Telescope with which you can end the game. Browse through the book until you have found the page where a set of 5 D'ni number symbols are located. This set of 5 D'ni numbers is then for you the Code for the Funnel Telescope on Temple Island.
You will find this code on page
24. There you will see a series of 5 D'ni numbers next to a sketch of the funnel
telescope.
This code is different every game, so draw the 5 D'ni numbers you see and translate them to our numbers. This time I received the numbers: 3, 1, 3, 5, 4. The highest number can never be higher than 5, because there are only 5 buttons on that round hatch under the Funnel Telescope. Later, when we have to open that circular hatch via this code, I will explain how to do that.
When you noted down the code then you store the diary and step back at the table and ...........
Nelah comes back in and now she puts
the travel book on the table. That book allows you to return to the Moiety cave
on Jungle Island.
Zoom again in on the table and
click on the book and ........
....... when you have your
cursor back, click in the Linking Screen to return to the Moiety Cave.
It is time to look up Ghen.
But in order to get to the Universe of Ghen, we first have to open the 2nd phase
of the Domes and for this all the Domes must first be powered. We will do that
on the roof of the Golden Dome of Temple Island.
Then turn around and go
back to and through the Blue Cave. Then follow the path around the jungle, or
you go through the Jungle, to junction 1 and turn right over the rope bridge.
Temple Island.
Turn left and exit the tram and
then up the stairs to the doors of the temple.
You are now back in Position 1 of
the Portal Room.
Position 1 and 3 must now be opened, so click on the Rotation
button twice to get this done. Then go through the Portal Room and out of
Position 3 again
Now walk over the bridge to the
roof of the Golden Dome and you end up in the gap between the two halves of the
dome. Walk 5 steps
forward, through gap in the roof and you are zoomed in on the:
I can be brief about it. So you have to place the 5 marbles, in the color of the various islands, in the right place in the grid. You know the colors for 4 of the islands and you know that YELLOW does not belong to an island. So now you also know that PURPLE belongs to the Crater Island.
Place the Purple Marble, Green Marble, Blue
Marble, Orange Marble and the Red Marble on the correct coordinates in the
islands. Of course you have to remember on which part of the islands the Domes
are located and then place the marbles on the right Coordinates within these
parts of the islands. Or you just look at this image
The Dome 2nd Phase
Turn around and walk back through
the roof gap, descend the bridge and walk through the Portal Room to Position 1.
Open the Inner Dome:
You count the lines
from left to right, so as 1 to 25. On the left there are 5 sliders in the lock.
Name those 5 sliders A, B, C, D, E.
Now take out your Code which you have found in the Journal of Ghen, in the Laboratory of Ghen. This code has 5 digits. From left to right, this is an ascending series. The lowest number is on the left and the highest number is on the right. You now have to put the 5 sliders on the dashes that correspond to the 5 numbers of your code. So you put slide E on the highest digit of your code. You put the Slider D on the second highest number of your code etc
For
example......If the code you got from Ghen's Diary is : 9; 12;
14; 21, 24 so I put the sliders down like this:
if you have done well then the inner dome will open and the
Linking Book Pillar will rise up in the sphere.
