Chapter 4: Noloben Age

You are in the Noloben Age, and of course you start this Age in a "Water bell" . You must take the "Stone Tablet" with you.

Turn around and get out of the "Water Bell" and then turn left. You are on a beach near an ocean.

In the distance you see Esher, sitting on the beach .Go forward to Esher. Listen to Esher again.

"Welcome to Noloben,  This is My Age ......... I have fled here when the D'ni" died. "From one certain death to an other. You will find the "fingerprints" of those Creatures everywhere here, this is also their home world and they did not give me a warm welcome when I fled to this Age,  where I had to learn to survive. You will learn that this Age is different from all the other Ages "

Esher disappears again. Go one step ahead on the beach. The beach then makes a left turn, so turn to the left with the bend and go forward once again.

Then turn to the left, to the rock wall. Against the rocks there is a kind of "gazebo".

Go to the "gazebo" and stand straight in front of it. There is an "Egg stone" and 4 scales standing in the "gazebo.

On the ground lies a "Stone Bahro Tablet" with 3 white figures on it.  Behind the "egg stone" you see a lot of Symbols on the rock wall. They are Bahro number symbols.

Turn right again and go forward once again. Then turn left and........in the corner you now see the entrance to a Tunnel / Cave.

Go to the tunnel entrance and then go 2 times ahead through the tunnel. Then turn slightly to the right and then go forwards once again. You are now in the Cave. Turn right again and you'll see a "Blue" tunnel. Enter the "Blue" tunnel 2 times. Then turn right again and you see the exit. Exit out  the "Blue" tunnel.

You are now on the other side of the main island. If you look to the right, you will see a high rock island that rises out from the ocean. Penguins are enjoying the sun on the island. You can not go to that island. Turn to the left. You now see a large "Table mountain" Island. There are also Penguins enjoying the sun on this island. In the middle of that island you see something that looks like a "Gate".

Go forward one time to the ocean. You can not enter the water here. So turn left. There are 2 round rocks in the sand here. Now move forward 3 or 4 times and then turn clockwise. You are now exactly right in front of the middle of the "Table mountain" Island and here you are allowed to enter the ocean to cross over to the "Table mountain" Island.

Wade through the water to the "Table mountain" Island. That "Gate" turns out not to be a gate, but it's a large "Menhir stone" that blocks the entrance to a tunnel.

Go stand against the "Menhir stone". There is a drawing of a Tree on the "Menhir stone"......

You can't move the "Menhir" out of the way with your "hands". The "Menhir" thus blocks access to the "Keep" of this Age and everything you will do here in this Age from now on is aimed of getting this "Menhir" out of the way.

Turn completely around, so you are looking back over the water to the main island. On top of the flat cliffs of the main island, a tall, solitary, rounded mountain sticks out.... You can see that there's something on top of that round mountain...... Is that a "Lens"?

Whatever it is .... It is exactly focused on the "Menhir stone" behind you

Cross back through the water to the main island and back on the beach turn left and go back to the entrance of the "Blue" tunnel.

Go back through the "blue" tunnel, the cave and the front tunnel, to the "front" beach of the island. Back on the other side of the island turn right and go back to the "gazebo".

Let it Rain:

Go straight back to the "gazebo" and make sure you are standing right in front of it again. Look down at the "Stone Bahro Tablet"..... you see 3 white figures on it........but you see these 3 white figures "up side down". Bring your own "Stone Tablet" up again and draw on your own "Stone Tablet" those  3 figures that you see on the Bahro Tablet......

Once you have drawn the three white figures on your Tablet, deposit your "Stone Tablet" here in the sand.

Once you have deposited the Tablet on the ground, turn right and do 2 steps forward towards the entrance of the tunnel. Then turn back quickly so that you look back at the "gazebo" and ........ the Bahro appears at the "gazebo" and looks at the drawing on your Tablet.

Apparently the Bahro understands what you have "written" because ..... your screen turns white for a moment and then .....It starts to RAIN.......The Bahro does not take your Tablet

NB: If the Bahro does not appear and / or  it does not rain now, then the Bahro has not approved your drawing on the Tablet. Then go back to the Arbor and pick up your Stone Tablet and try again

Quickly go back to the "gazebo".........The Bahro has disappeared again. You automatically pick up your "Stone Tablet" again. You see that the 4 "Scales", which are around the "egg stone", are now filled with rainwater. Wait until your screen turns white again. It has then stopped raining. Now take a good look at the 4 scales.

In each of the 4 scales you now see, in the water, the reflection of one of the Symbols, which are drawn on the rock wall. You must be quick now. Quickly make a drawing of the "Egg stone" and the 4 symbols,  that you now see reflected in the 4 scales. So you have to remember which 4 symbols they are and in witch scale you see them". These are the Bahro symbols for the numbers 2, 4, 7 and 8.

  • In the scale at the top left you will see the symbol for number 4
  • In the scale at the bottom left you will see the symbol for number 9.
  •  In the top right-hand corner you see the symbol for number 12
  • In the bottom right, you see the symbol for number 2.

Turn left and now go all the way back to the "Water bell". Enter the "Water bell" again and place your "Stone Tablet" on the linking pillar.

You must do this now because you must climb up a ladder in a moment and you can't do that when you're carrying the "Stone Tablet".

Then go out of the "Water bell" again. Turn right. In the distance you can see the Cliffs. Just before the cliffs you can see a kind of hut, standing on the beach.

In front of that "hut"  the remains of a boat lie in the sand. Go forwards 3 times. You are then at that shipwreck. Stand still and look to the right.

You look into the corner and you see that there, on top of the cliff, . a LADDER is rolled up. A long rope hangs down. Turn around to the right. In the corner you see the entrance to a tunnel again.

Go to the tunnel entrance and enter the tunnel. After 2 turns the tunnel is blocked by a gigantic "Egg stone".

There are 4 of these types of stones that blocks this tunnel. You will have to get them "open".

Turn around and walk back out of the tunnel again and then turn clockwise to the corner where the ladder is hanging. Go in that corner until you really stand with your nose against the cliff wall. You then stand in front of the Rope. Click on the handle of the rope. Hold down your mouse and pull the rope down and ..... the ladder is now rolled out.

Click twice with your hand on the ladder and ............ you climb all the way up and end up on the cliffs".

The Round Stone Building

Opening  the "Egg doors" in the tunnel:

Right in front of you see that "lonely round rock", which you saw from the "Table mountain island".....it  turns out to be a Stone Building.

Turn slightly to the right. In the grass you will see a small, round, pillar.

Go through the grass to the pillar and stand straight in front of it. There are 4 of these small round pillars around the Stone Building.

On the round "cap" of the pillar are the D'ni numbers 1 to 15. You can rotate the round "cap" of the pillar, so that there is always another number symbol above the "arrow". However, don't do this now. The Stone Building has 15 Stone Windows. The intention is that at first every window in the building is closed, but there are now a number of windows open so you have to close them first.

Go forward through the grass, until you stand with your nose against the Stone Building. You can walk around the Stone Building. It does not matter if you are going to do this left or right.

Walk around the Stone Building .......... Go 1 step ahead and then turn left or right to the Window where you then stand for......n this way, check whether each of the 15 Stone Windows is closed. If a window is open, you can look through the window into the building. Close the window by clicking in the window. If you have checked in this way that each of the 15 windows of the Stone Building is actually closed, then you have also noticed that each window has a Number symbol. These are also the numbers 1 to 15.

Translate the D'ni symbol symbols, 2, 4, 9 and 12 to the Bahro numerical symbols for 2, 4, 9 and 12.

What you have to do now is to translate the D'ni numbers 2, 4, 9 and 12 to  "Bahro numbers".

You should of course know what the D'ni symbols are for 2, 4, 9 and 12, but you do not have to find this out for yourself. I've already done that for you.

The number 2:

First go to the Window that has the D'ni  number 2 and open this window. Then go 7 times ahead around the Stone Building. It does not matter if you do this left or right. The best you can do is to always take 1 step and then look at the window to see if you've come to the right window. So you pass 6 or 7 closed windows. Then open the 7th or 8th window. This 8th, or 7th window, is right in front of the window that had the number 2 symbol on the outside

Through the second window you look into the building and you see the opened number 2 window, but now from the inside, and above it you now see a Bahro number.

Note the Bahro symbol down and note that this Bahro symbol belongs to the D'ni number 2. This is one of the 4 Bahro symbols that you saw in the 4 bowls in the "gazebo".

The Number 4:

Walk past the building and find the closed window where the D'ni symbol stands for the number 4. Open this window.

Then go back 7 or 8 windows and open the window where you end up. This window is then right in front of the number 4 window.

Open this window and look into the building to the opened number 4 window and above that opened window you will see the corresponding Bahro symbol for the number 4.

Write down that symbol or remember it.

The number 9:

Walk along the building and find the closed window where the D'ni symbol stands for the number 9. Open this window. Then go back 7 or 8 windows and open the window where you end up.

This window is then directly opposite the number 9 window. Open this window and look through it into the building to the opened number 9 window and above that opened window you will see the corresponding Bahro symbol for number 9.

Write down or remember the symbol.

Number 12

Walk along the building and look for the closed window where the D'ni symbol stands for the number 12. However, you have already opened this window as the 2nd window at number 4. So you have to go back to that window. Then go back 7 or 8 windows and open the window where you end up. This window is then directly opposite the number 9 window.

This is the window where the number 4 is on and it is already open. Door the second opened window you look into the building to the opened window 12 window and above that opened window you see the corresponding Bahro symbol for the number 12

Write down the symbol or remember it.

NB: If you have trouble getting this stuff done with the windows, then just skip this piece and continue with the solution of the 4 pillars.

If you have found out what the Bahro symbols are for the numbers 2, 4, 9, 12, through the windows of the building, then you have to set these 4 symbols on the 4 pillars around the building. To do this, first ensure that you end up at the ladder again. Standing on the edge of the cliff, before the ladder, turn around again to the Stone Building:

When you look at the Building again, turn right and go through the grass to the 1st pillar. Go stand right in front of the 1st pillar. T

his pillar corresponds to the bottom right-hand scale in the gazebo and thus with the number 2 symbol. So put the Number 2 symbol on this pillar:

Turn right and go to the next Pillar. This pillar corresponds to the upper right scale and in it you saw the Bahro number 12. So put the D'ni number 12 on this pillar.

Turn right again and go to the 3rd pillar. This pillar corresponds to the Upper Left Scale and in it you see the D'ni digit 4. So put the D'ni number 4 on this pillar.

Turn right again and go to the 4th pillar. This pillar corresponds to the bottom left scale and in it you saw the Bahro number 9. So put the D'ni number 9 on this pillar.

When you have done all this right now all four Stone Doors in the 2nd Tunnel will now be open. Go back to the ladder and descend back down to the beach via the ladder.

You can check for yourself whether all the Stone Doors in the tunnel are now open, but we'll go back into that tunnel in a second, so follow me first.

From the ladder, first go back to the "Water bell", enter the "Water bell" and take your "Stone Tablet" back from the linking pillar.

You need the "Stone Tablet" again soon, so you have to carry the Tablet with you again.

Leave the "Water bell" again and go to the right and across the beach, back to the shipwreck and turn right again to the tunnel entrance.

Go to the tunnel entrance and follow the tunnel all the way to the end. It is long curvy tunnel but all 4 Stone Egg Doors in the tunnel are now open, so you can now walk all the way to the end of the tunnel. The tunnel will take you into the cave, under the Round Stone Building, where a Linking Pillar is placed

 In the Round Stone Building:

Esher's Laboratory

Go to the Linking Pillar. Stand on the right side of the pillar. Mote down the large Symbol (not on your "Stone Tablet", but for yourself on a piece of paper) that is on top of the pillar. Then place your "Stone Tablet" here on the pillar, because you have to climb a ladder again. Turn right and aim your forefinger on the steps of the stairs.

Go forward to the stairs and climb the first 2 stairs. On the stairs you meet Esher again, who is sitting on the stairs. Listen to Esher again:

"So you've opened my lab, I'm impressed, it's safe here, they're scared and do not dare to come in. The SNAKE prevents them from coming in. I really did not have a liking in what I let them all endure here ...... but I had to learn.  Do you know that by dragging the "Stone Tablets" you are helping the Bahro? Did Yeesha not tell you this? Do you know that the Tablets possesses the full strength of the Bahro? Did Yeesha not tell you this? Do you know that they will stay away from everything that have the Snake Symbol? Do you know that with the Tablet, which Yeesha said you should not give it to her, you can manipulate the Bahro to make them do what you want them to do? Did Yeesha tell you this? I HAVE LEARNED ..... If you do not keep them under control, they are scary creatures. Go to my hiding place, all the way up ........ Seal my hiding place and you can climb up"

Esher disappears again.... So apparently you're in Esher's laboratory and  the Bahro are not fond of snakes?. Now go further up the stone stairs and .....When you're up you'll notice that you are now inside the Round Stone Building. S0,  this is Esher's lab, just stand at the top of the stairs and look around. a "floating" wooden floor goes from the stairs and almost at the end you see a ladder going up to the top floor. Now follow the wooden floor to the other end,

At the other end there is a large board with some sketches of Esher stuck to it. Walk to that board, there are also 2 sketches before the board on the floor.

Click on each sketch, also the 2 on the floor.  You are looking for a sketch on which you see draw a "Stone Tablet" with a SNAKE on it

When you have that sketch with the Snake Symbol in your screen then draw that Snake symbol on a piece of paper, so you can later draw it on the "Stone Tablet".

Then turn to the ladder. Go forward until you stand against the ladder and then look up the ladder.

Click on top of the ladder and you climb up. Above you turn right and......You  stand in front of a Metal Cage.

Move forward against the cage.  You then look up automatically. There is a round hole in the roof above the cage. A ladder hangs down from the hole. Click with your forefinger on that ladder and .... you climb up and land on top of the cage. Turn around and look up again, at the ladder that hangs in the round hole. Unfortunately .... the ladder is still too high. You can not reach it. Is this what Esher meant by "Seal my hiding place and you can climb". Look down at the floor shelves, before the metal cage, and then click with your down finger and then click with your forefinger to climb back down.

Turn around, forward, left and click with your lower finger on the upper rung of the ladder to climb back down to the bottom floor shelves for.

Walk back to the Stone Staircase and descend it all the way down again , to the cave.

Then go to the right, to the Linking Pillar and grab your "Stone Tablet" again.

Turn around and go to the tunnel and follow the tunnel back to the shipwreck on the beach.

Well .... you have to close the access to Esher's lab again. So you have to close those 4 Stone Egg Doors in the tunnel again. But for that you have to go up on top of the cliffs via the hanging ladder again. But you can not do that now because you are dragging the "Stone Tablet" with you again. So go back to the "Water bell", left on the beach. Place the "Stone Tablet" on the pillar in the "Water bell".  On the linking pillar in the "Water bell" is now also the link symbol of the pillar that is in Esher's cave. I think Esher has taken care of this. I assume that this is also the case for you now.

NB: this was in my game. I do not know if this is the case in your game. If this symbol isn't on this pillar, you must make sure that the Bahro put it on the pillar. To do that you must draw this symbol on the "Stone Tablet" and then put the Tablet on the floor. Exit the "Water bell" and go 2 steps to the right, towards the shipwreck. Then turn around and see .... the Bahro appears in the "Water bell" and when he/she approves your drawing the Bahro will put the symbol on the linking pillar and take the "Stone Tablet" to the pillar in the cave.

Without  the "Stone Tablet", go back to the shipwreck and then to the hanging ladder in the corner. Climb back up to the round stone building via the hanging ladder.

Go back to each of the 4 pillars, which are located around the round stone building, and move the round top of each pillar 1 stroke, so that you have a wrong symbol on of each pillar. This will close the 4 Stone Egg Doors in the tunnel again. Go back down to the beach via the hanging ladder. You can check in the tunnel  whether the Stone Doors are really closed. Yes ... that is true. So back to the "Water bell" and grab the "Stone Tablet" from the Linking Pill and click with your hand on the Link Symbol of Esher's Cave and you will get there again.

Open up  the door of the "Keep"

You are back in the cave under Esher's lab. First put your "Stone Tablet" here on the pillar.

Then climb up the stone steps again and then up the ladder to the Metal Cage.

Climb back on top of the cage. The ladder now hangs right in front of you and you can now climb up further. Do that.

You end up on the roof of the Round stone Building and are standing in front of another Linking Pill. Draw the big symbol that is on it, then turn around

On the other side of the ladder hole hangs the large round LENS, it is the thing that you saw shining from the "Table mountain " island. In front of the Lens you see the same Tree Circle on the ground, that you also saw on  the "Menhir stone" on the "Table mountain island. " Walk, left or right, around the ladder hole and then go stand on the Tree Circle, before the round LENS and......

...... the Tree Circle where you stand on turns is WHITE and the LENS sends a beam to the Tree Circle on the "Menhir stone", on the "Table mountain" island and .... you see through the lens that the "Menhir stone" "sinks into the ground. The "Table mountain" is OPEN now.  But.....Unfortunately ...... if you step off the Tree Circle then ...... the "Menhir stone" will rise again and close off  the entrance of the "Table mountain" again. So you have to put something heavy on the Tree Circle in front of the lens, so that it stays white when you step of it again. ..... something heavy? The only thing that is really heavy is the "Stone Tablet" that you always carry with you. But how to get this on the roof here? Simple.....let the Bahro do that for you......

Climb back down the ladder to the top of the Metal Cage and make sure you land again in the cave, through the ladder and the stone stairs.

Go to the Linking Pill in the cave, grab the "Stone Tablet" and click on the "sandwich" symbol that is on the bottom of the pillar and......

.... you will return to the "Water bell". Standing in the "Water bell" you bring up the "Stone Tablet" and then you draw the Symbol of the pillar, that's on the roof of the Round Stone Building.

Then drop the "Stone Tablet" on the floor, go out the "Water bell" and take 2 steps to the right, towards the shipwreck. Turn to the "Water bell" and see ......... The Bahro reappears in the "Water bell" and if he judges your drawing as good then the Bahro puts the symbol on the pillar and disappears with your Tablet .

NB: As always ... If your drawing on the tablet was not good enough then the Bahro will not take the Tablet with you. You will have to do it over again.

The Bahro will deposit the "Stone Tablet" on the pillar, on the Roof of the Round Stone Building.

Enter the "Water bell" again and click with your hand on the symbol of the roof pillar and you will end up on the roof again.

You are back on the Roof of the Round Stone Building. Take "Stone Tablet" of the Pillar and turn around and go back to the Lens.

Go stand onto the Tree Circle, in front of the Lens again......... the Circle will turn white again and in the lens you will see the "Menhir stone" drop down again.

SAVE YOUR GAME now because once you have placed the "Stone Tablet" on the ground,  on the Tree Circle, you have to be  REALLY QUICKLY.

I will explain it to you first....... So please read my explanation first and then go and do it

 EXPLANATION:

Standing in front of the lens you raise the "Stone Tablet." Clear the drawing of the roof symbol and draw the SNAKE Symbol on the "Stone Tablet".

Now deposit the "Stone Tablet" on the Tree Circle. As soon as you have put the "Stone Tablet" onto the Tree circle a timer starts and you have to move quickly to get to the "Table mountain Island.  So you have to do the next bit in running mode, so move with your left mouse always pressed when you walk ......

First descend the roof ladder to the top of the Metal Cage.

Then you descend from the Metal Cage to the floor boards and then via the first ladder back to the bottom floor boards.

Run across the boards again to the stone staircase and descend it completely back to the cave.

In the cave you go to the linking pillar and click on the "Water bell" symbol (the smallest symbol) and you end up in the "Water bell".

If in the "Water bell" the "Stone Tablet" is not yet on the pillar, you are still on schedule.

If the Tablet is already on the pillar in the "Water bell" then there is no point in continuing. You are already too late then. Then load your Save Game and start again.

Get out of the "Water bell" and go left to the tunnel in the corner behind the "gazebo".

Go all the way through this tunnel to the beach on the other side of the island.

Follow the beach to the left again and stand so that you are right in front of the "Menhir stone" of the "Table mountain" Island.

Cross the water to the "Table mountain" Island and stay in front of the "Menhir stone" and wait .. .... The "Menhir stone" is still blocking the entrance ..... You must wait for the beam of light coming from the big Lens, on top of the Stone Building. If you've done everything fast enough, after a few seconds  the beam of light will shatter the  "Menhir stone" sand you can enter the "Table Mountain". Quickly go in because the "Menhir stone" only stays away for a while and after a few seconds the access to the "Keep"  will be  closed again

If there's no beam of light then the Menhir Stone will not be shattered.......

this means that in the meantime the Bahro has grabbed your "Stone Tablet" and has put it on the pillar in the "Water bell".....you were not fast enough.

OK ..... did you understand all this? Do you know all the routes, so you know how to go from the "Water bell" to the other side of the island. Otherwise, read the beginning of this Age. Then go and DO all this. So make sure you get,  after you have deposited the "Stone Tablet" with the Snake Symbol on the Tree Circle in front of the Lens, as fast as you can on the "Table Mountain" Island and stay there before the "Menhir stone" until it crumbles. Then quickly move forward into the Keep.

The "Keep"

You made it into the "Keep". However, the "Menhir stone" has risen again, so you can't leave the Keep through the exit/entrance.

You stand before the "Water bell" in the Keep and  you see the Tablet Pillar. Enter the "Water Bell" and draw the circles symbol that you see on the pillar.

Click on the "sandwich" symbol to return to the "Water bell " on the beach. Back in the "Water bell" on the beach you grab the "Stone Tablet" from the Linking Pillar. The Bahro, or Esher, has put the Tablet back on the pillar here. Bring the "Stone Tablet"  up again and draw the symbol of the pillar in the "Keep" onto the Tablet

Deposit the "Stone Tablet"  on the floor again, turn around and leave the "Water bell" and go back 2 steps to the right, towards the shipwreck. Turn back to the "Water bell" and wait until the Bahro has taken your "Stone Tablet" and has put the "Keep" symbol on the pillar. The Bahro takes the Stone Tablet

So go back into the "Water bell" and link back to the "Keep".  You will meet Esher again

At first Esher is very excited but also angry with you. Pay special attention to what he tells you about the Myst Linking Book on the table in the K'veer prison cave:

"No one understands those Creatures better than I do. I see that you doubts this. No one has learned to speak their language as well as I did. Do you also doubt this? What other doubts have THEY burned in your mind? I have opened my Age for you, my mind and my understanding and yet you still doubt my motives. I only hope that the knowledge that I have gathered will save both you and me when the end is there. Why am I walking around? I'm afraid. I fear the choice that you will eventually make. I hesitate to tell you this, to put this extra burden on your shoulders, but I have to. There is another option that you can choose at the end. The MYST BOOK. It lays closed on the table where you started, in K'veer. Yeesha will not go there. She hates that island, so the Tablet would be safe there for her hunger for the Tablet. Be alert .... a choice awaits you. Do not let your doubt, even your doubts about me, prevent you from making the right choice. "

Esher disappears again., so remember what he said about the Myst Book. Turn left and go forward to your Blue Tablet in the" Water bell ".

Click again with your hand on the Tablet to make it solid and to unlock this slot.

The Golden Tablet is now still fixed with 1 slot. .One more to go and then THE GOLDEN TABLET WILL BE YOURS.

Click on the " sandwich "symbol and you are back in the beach" Water bell"

Click on the Direbo Symbol (the 3 islands) and you will return to:

 Direbo:

Well .... you are back in the" Water bell "of Island 3 of Direbo.  Leave the "Water bell" and go over the left bridge to Island 4.

Enter the "Water bell" of Island 4 and grab the round "Stone Tablet" of the linking pillar.

You see the large "Dome" symbol.  Click the little "Dome" symbol and you end up in:
