Chapter 2: Hunrath: Part 3:

The Tree of Life

A: Junk Yard and Garage

At the end of Chapter 2 you have stepped through the purple wall.....that purple wall is a transition wall.

Take a look at the map. On the map you see, left and right along the edge, the numbers 1 to 8.

You are now at L8 and if you continue here you will come to R8. You are now on the upper part of the junk yard .

Continue along the containers. You come to an exit to the left and to the right. Follow the path to the right

You reach the middle of the terrain .......



Follow the track to the right, you will see a plank on the left, but first go straight to the gate. Open the gate



Then walk back to the plank and go up the plank to the hut above the gate. On the table you will find a book with the inventory of the junk yard



Also look out the window at the front ......... you will see the track with a branch to the left. You have to go there again later with the rail cart to burn away a few boulders.



But first you have to do something else now that you are here anyway. Go down to the track again. Follow the track to the right and you will see another plank near a yellow container.

Walk up the plank and you will reach a yellow loading shovel / lift. Enter the yellow shovel and press the button on the left,

.......... the yellow shovel takes you down and then it goes open. Walk across the roof to the right, there is a staircase down

Go down, you are now in the lower part of the junk yard, behind the fence and the garage. Turn to the left and follow the path almost to the end, there you will find an electrical box.

Open the box and raise the left lever, you now also have power here.

Turn around and see the back of the garage, there is a piece of the wall away so you can go inside now.

Learn Villein numbers

When you enter you will immediately find a strange machine connected to a cash register on the left. 

On the table in front of it is a paper that has something to do with that machine.

When you get closer to the machine, it opens and closes, and you see 9 blue dots in the middle. This machine is a Villein Number machine an it translate Villein numbers into our numbers. You can make Villein numbers with those blue dots.  If you click on a blue dot and then drag it to another blue dot you get a line. You can make al sorts of combinations in this way. If you have made a combination with the blue dots then press the blue button at the top of the machine. You will see a number at the cash register. This way you can translate the Villein numbers into our numbers. On the paper on the table you saw a number of these combinations, enter them 1 by 1 on the machine and then press the blue button. Write down which numbers are included.

You have seen a combination at the projector screen in Farley's house, 

Make this combination on the Villein Machine and then and press the blue  button. 

At the cash register the number 406 then appears, remember this number. What you have to do with this number you will find out later. 

The Villein number system is a 4 numeral system, our number system is a 2 numeral system

Now walk to the front part of the garage, on the right of the big garage door you see a green button. Click on it and if all goes well the door will now go up.

If you look outside, you will see a telephone booth on the left of the site. First look at the left wall here in the garage. There are a number of license plates from different states in the U.S.A. 

Take a picture of these license plates because you will need them for a code later on

It differs per game which number plates you will see here on the wall ......... It can also be these number plates:

Walk out and go to the telephone booth en step into the booth

View the dial of the phone in the telephone booth ..... there are numbers and letters on it. Take a picture of this too, because you will also need this for the code later on

Leave the telephone booth ..... You can walk along the fence of the junk yard site ..... On the map, on the fence, you can see that everything now has electricity.

B: From the garage to the Mayor's house

You can not do anything here now, so walk through the train depot to the façade of the house behind it.



Go through the door in the façade and continue walking backwards. You are back at the back entrance of Farley's house.

Do not go in there now but now go left, under the stone arch, and then up the stone stairs.



Follow the path and you will reach the purple wall, at L3 on the map. Step through the purple wall and you are now at R3 on the map.

When you are  through the purple wall, turn to the left and walk a bit further. You are at the dam revolving door in the river that you have previously opened. Above that door is a metal walkway but you can not go over there because the door is turnt the wrong way. Walk down to the metal path and turn to the left, there you see a mine entrance. Walk in there and go through the wall at R4 on the map

On the other side, at L4 on the map, Climb up and follow the path.

Follow the path until you come to a door .......



to the right of the door is a code box. The only number you have is 406 from the machine in the garage. Click on the bottom of the box and open it, enter the number 406 now. The door opens.

Go inside and .... you are in the house of  mayor Josef:

C: Mayor's House:

On the left you see door 1. Door 1 is the front door. In the back is an elevator shaft. To the right of the elevator shaft stand a desk. Behind the table is a lower part of the room. If you go there then you'll see a list on the wall with the names of all previous mayors. In the upper right corner is door 2, the back door of this mayor's house.

First go to door 1 and slide the door closing bar back. Then open door 1...

You can now walk out through door 1 and if you do this you are then behind the tree, in the center of the village. 

You can walk around the tree, but you can not go to the tree because the entrance to the tree is closed with a gate. You have to open that gate somewhere else.

If you just walk around, around the tree, you'll automatically end up at door 1 of the mayor's house, so go inside again. At the back left of the mayor's house you see the elevator shaft, but the elevator is not there and does not work now. To the right of the elevator is a desk and in front of the desk is a deepened part of the room. In that deepened part is a table with a few papers on it. Read these papers for a moment. From the deepened floor, or from the desk, you can walk to door 2. Next door 2, you see the nameplates of all mayors hanging on the wall.

Slide the sliding bar of door 2 up and then open door 2. If you step outside through door 2. You'll see that you are back at the round concrete sphere and are above the train depot.

Door 2 is now open and is therefore a shortcut to enter the mayor's house from the concrete bulb construction.

Step back into the mayor's house and continue to the desk

There are a number of things that you can look at. On the right site of the desk lies a number plate with the name of one of the U.S.A states.  On the left side of the desk lies a journal book. You can read the journal and as you do this you'll read that the code for the elevator has been changed.  On the left corner of the desk you'll find  also a compass in a box

Click on the box and the compass will come out. Turn the compass over. On the back of the compass you'll read the name of one of the U.S.A States . This state name is different then the name on the license plate that lies on the right side of the desk. Wright down the state name that you see on the back of the compass

I can not tell you witch state name you will see on the compass because that name is different every game and every time. But it is always one of the state names that you saw on the number plates in the front part of the garage. Write down the name you will read on the back of the compass. For me it was California this time round. if you see the letters D.C on the back of the compass, then it is the District of Colombia license plat. I hope you that you took a picture of those license plates, if not then go outside through door 2 and then go back to the garage to take a picture of the license plates, or write down the state name of the state you have received on the back of the compass

If you have looked at everything inside here, seen the name on the compass and noted it, then go outside through door 1 and then walk right or left, to the front side.  

Find a narrow staircase passage, between the houses and then walk down the stairs

Go to the center of the village and from there back to the house of C.W. Enter again and go to the vault door and press the green button call again and C.W appears again. 

Listen to C.W 's story again. C.W now tells you about the tree and he asks you to go under the tree, to  provide the tree with water. C.W also asks you whether you have connected the large cable at the top of the battery. The battery is that thing in the workshop and if you have followed my lead so far then you have done this already

D: Bring live to the Tree of Life of Hunrath

When C.W is gone again you go back to the river and the dam revolving door. Now lower the left side of the propeller and then operate  the dam lever again. The dam door is closes again.

You must now return to the stone arch behind Farley's house. You can get there in two ways.

You can go through the house of the mayor or through the house of Farley, because you have opened the front door of Farley's house

If you want to go through the mayor's house:

If you want to go through the mayor's house, you go back to the narrow stairway, between the houses. and up again via that staircase. Above you walk around to door 1 of the mayor house and go in again. Go straight out through door 2 and then walk down and to the train depot. Cross over the train depot to the façade and go back through the doorway and then left again to the entrance at the back of Farley's house.

If you want to go through the Farley house

The other way is through Farley's house, the house with the white fence. So from the now closed dam door you run through the valley to the front of the Farley house. Enter the Farley house through the front door and immediately exit through the back door. Then walk out through the short mine tunnel and ..... you will also be back behind the Train Depot and behind the Farley house  and you are at the stone arch.

Anyway, whether you have returned to the stone arch via the mayor's house or the Farley house ..... 

when you're there you follow the path again under the stone arch, then up the stone staircase to the purple wall. 

At L3 on the map, go through the purple wall again, turn left and walk on to the dam revolving door, which is now closed again. The walkway above the revolving door is now passable.

Walk over the bridge and ....... at the end you will see a raised staircase on the left and a lever on the right. Pull the lever and ...... the stairs will drop down and you have a shortcut to the garage and the train depot Don't go down here but instead go straight on and follow the rocky path and you'll reach the tower of the mayor house. The tower is the elevator shaft that you saw inside the mayor's house.

You can press the button to the right of the shaft but nothing happens because there's no power.

 On the left you see a panel with a display and a turntable and also a bell. You have to enter a code here, but what is the code?

Find out the right code for the elevator

On the desk of the mayor, in the mayor's house, you have read in the journal that the code for the elevator has been changed. You also saw a state name on the back of the compass and you also saw a license plate on that desk. The state name on that license plate was not the same as same  as the state name you saw on the back of the compass.  You must work with the state you saw on the back of the compass, for me this California this time. So I shall explain how you find out the code with my name California. But this works with every name / number plate that you got on the back of the compass. 

You also need the dial of the telephone booth at the garage......I assume that you have made a picture of that dial.

The number on the California license plate is FLW167 ..... On the dial of the telephone booth you see witch letter belongs to which number. So you have to replace the letters on the license plate with the numbers that belong to those letters and you see that on the dial ........ For  me the California code becomes then:  F = 3, L = 5, W = 9, so the code I have to use is then 3, 5, 9, 1, 6, 7.  

Turn the digits of your code here with the dial and .......... the bell rings and you have power. Then press the button, on  the right of the shaft again and the elevator will come up. 

Get in the elevator and press the down button.

You go down once, to the living room of the mayor. Press the down button on the elevator again and ........ you drop down again and you are in the bedroom.

Step from the elevator. You can  take a look here, but there is not much that is of any interest here. 

Walk past the bed and go to the right, there is a corridor upstairs. There you will find a turning mechanism.

Turn the handle of this mechanism and a gate comes down.

If you have explored the whole village in the beginning then you know that this is the gate of the area where the tree stands. You have seen this gate when you step out of door 1 of the mayor's house. Well...that gate is now open, so you have to go back there now. Go back to the elevator and go up one floor. Walk into the living room and go straight out through door 1 again.  Walk to the right and then go through the now open gate on the left and walk around the tree.

The Hunrath Tree of Life:

Between the thick roots of the tree you can see a tunnel going down. The hose, coming from the water tower. also runs through this.

Go down the tunnel..... You end up in the tree and there you see the root of the tree. Turn to the right and walk further down, via the stone staircase.

There are a lot of hoses on the ground and you can also see a number of openings were those hoses go to. 

You can go through those openings but nothing happens now. Walk around the tree and you will see a lever at the end of the hose. 

 Turn the lever to the other side and........

If you have opened the tap on the water tower then now the water will run through the hose to water the tree here. if you did not opened the tap on the water tower before, then the water will not come now. But if you have followed the walkthrough then you have done that, so the water will give the Tree life now

Go back up the stairs and go through the tunnel again to the surface, on the way you see the energy flows through the roots of the tree. When you have reached the top again go back to the house of C.W and press the green button again. The most important thing that C.W tells  you now is that you also have to connect the Trees worlds with the Tree of Hunrath, but he does not tell you where to find the other Trees of Life

E: The route to Kaptar:

Go back to the front door of the mayor's house and get inside and then take the elevator to the top floor (2x up) of the tower. 

You come on a platform with a nice view. You see a panel with 4 meters and 4 lights. Only the green light is now on, it is from Hunrath where you are now. Behind the plank screen is a small outside platform, there you will find an old-fashioned plunger to ignite explosives. You can push the plunger but nothing happens. You can see that a cable runs from the plunger to the "Bleeder", that is that large tower large in the lake. In the downstairs room there is a description of this "bleeder".

Here on top of this elevator tower you will eventually finish the game, but you have a long way to go before you come back here to play one of the two endings of the game

When you're done looking around up here go stand back onto the elevator platform and go back down one floor. 

Then walk back over the path to the dam bridge above the revolving door, cross the bridge. Just over the bridge you go up diagonally to the left. . When you have climb the stone stairs then don't go back through the purple wall but instead go straight ahead, on the left side

Follow the path t until you see the path with planks against the side walls.

Walk down this path to the purple wall and now go through the purple wall at R2 on the map.

You arrive at L2 on the map, follow the path you see now. You come to a strange gray sphere, it is a very different rock than the rest in the area.

Walk a little further and you will see, a little lower, the upper part of the junk yard  you will see a scaffolding on the right with a push button next to it. On the left you see a strange device.

First walk to the push button next to the scaffolding. Press the button and a part of the scaffolding slides down, you now have a shortcut to the Junk Yard from here.

Now turn to that strange device,  is a switch machine. If you use this device, you will be moved to another area with a part of your surroundings. 

The device has a lever and a blue button. When you pull the lever you see a colored circle / sphere, this part will be transported with you to the next area. When you then push the blue button you will be transported to the next world. So pull the lever and then push the blue button and.........You get this screen

You have to wait until this "foggy screen" has gone, and that can take some time, and then you have been transported to an other world, perhaps even to an other planet....
