Chapter 1: Valsembor Clinic

  The elevator key

Kate and Kurk's room:  

When Kate wakes up she lies on a stretcher in a room in the clinic of Dr Zamiatine in Valsembor.  

Kate slowly gets up and she sees that there is a Youkol sitting next to her in a chair. Talk to the Youkol through the options you get and use them all.

The Youkol is called Kurk and he is the guide of the Youkols. Kurk lost a lower leg in a bombardment of soldiers. Kurk is stuck in the chair so that he does not walk around on one leg and therefore will slow down his healing. Someone in Valsembor is working on manufacturing an artificial leg for Kurt.

  When Kate is done talking with Kurk, you can let her walk to the right, to the balcony, but you cannot do anything right now.  

  So walk to the left, there is a door. Click on the door button to open it, but ............ the door is locked.  

  Kurk then says that Kate should use the red button, which hangs right next to the door. That red button is a "Call button", so click on it  

Unfortunately ...... the "Call button" does not work either and Kate is somewhat panicked. Kurk then says that Kate should try to get the red button working again. So zoom in on the button box and ...... You get a magnifying glass on the one screw that keep the box closed. Click with the magnifying glass on the screw and ..... Kate looks at schedule of the button that is stuck on the right side of the box.  

  Kate needs something now to loosen the screw. Walk to the table, which is in the middle of the room. There is a tray on the table.  

  Zoom in on the tray and then take the knife  

The knife ends up in the inventory. Return to the door and again zoom in on the "Call button" box. When you are zoomed in again, you open the inventory via the I-key of your keyboard or via the mouse wheel of your mouse. Then select the knife you just picked ..... Make sure the knife is in the middle circle of the inventory ..... The knife is then selected. Then move your cursor to the screw ..... The knife is then your cursor in a circle with the word "Use" above it.  

  You now have to turn anticlockwise with your pressed left mouse button to rotate in circles with your mouse, to loosen the screw.  

  When the screw is removed, the box folds open and you see that the green wire is not connected to the inner box.  

  Click on the green thread and drag it, with the left mouse button down, to the top hole and insert the thread therein. The light will turn green. Then drag the push button down  

  When the push button is in the sleeve, click on the sleeve and drag it upwards to close the box again.  

  The push button lamp is now red, so press the button and Kate can now leave the room and she does so and she ends up in the:

Indoor garden:

  Dr. Mangolin:

Kate enters a courtyard with a fountain in the middle. There are many people in the courtyard where you can talk with, but that is not necessary. It gives background information. Walk around the fountain to the left until you reach an office. There are 2 nurses in front of the office window.  

  On the door you can read that this is the office of Dr. Mangolin ....... go inside.  

  Talk to the doctor. Mangolin is not exactly a guy you immediately feel a lot of sympathy for.

  Mangolin forces Kate to sit in a chair because she has to go through a lie detector test to show that she is in good order  

  Mangolin asks Kate a series of questions that you should answer by using the options you get.

NB: It does not matter what answers you give, but if you play the Steam version of the game and you want to earn the Steam achievements you have to give correct answers here. We do not give you those correct answers because we do not play the Steam version and frankly..... we find those Steam Achievements complete bull shit.

So give Mangolin several answers and eventually he will be happy and release Kate. Kate will receive a special key from the cheerful doctor with which she can leave the ward.  

  However, the key is a test .... If Kate manages to open the exit door with this key, she has proved that she is ok and then Mangolin will write the letter of discharge. Kate asks for her clothes, these are in a drawer of the filing cabinet, which is in the corner behind the desk. Click with your magnifying glass on that case and ......  

  Kate then walks to the filing cabinet and pulls out a drawer.

  Click on Kate's clothes and Kate is dressed up a bit later.

  The elevator:

  Leave the office and walk to the left to the elevator. Click on the elevator lock  

  You can see the elevator lock in close-up. Open the inventory and select the key and click on the lock again and ........

  You see how Kate puts the foreign key in the elevator lock ..... Click on the key and ......  

You now enter the close-up of the weird key, which sticks in the lock. You see that the key needs to be adjusted. The key has 8 "fingers" each with a different curved shape. The lock has 8 slots that each have the shape of a "finger". On the back of the key you see 8 white dots. With each of those 8 white dots you turn a "finger".  

  You have to turn the 8 "fingers" each to the right slot and you do that with the white buttons on the back of the key. Click on a white button and then hold down your mouse button and then use your mouse to turn left or right to turn the finger corresponding to the button to the correct slot.

If all the fingers are in the right slots, you automatically leave the close-up and ....... Kate will then try if the key works ........ The key does not work ....

 

  ............ the always cheerful Dr. Mangolin pops up. Talk to the doctor again with the options you get ....  

  When Kate has made her anger about the key sufficiently clear, move her back to the Mangolin office and enter again  

  Back in the office you put Kate in front of the desk and then you click on the desk lamp and ..........  

  Kate then says that she must first take a good look at the key. Select the key in your inventory and click on the bottom, turn the key around and you see a hole aside.  

  There are parts removed ................  

  Click the key away and click on the office chair. Kate then walks to the window and looks where the doctor is ..........  

  ..... Kate then walks to the desk and pulls the drawer open ... Now you have to put a number of things in the drawer to the left and then you see a red folder on the bottom.  

Take the red folder out of the drawer .......... Kate puts the folder on the desk. Scroll through the folder to the last page. On the last 2 pages you see the description of the key. Select the key in your inventory and then click on the folder and ......... Kate now compares the key with the folder and sees what is wrong with it ........

Kate takes the leaflet with her. Now that Kate knows what's wrong with the key, she has to repair the key. Exit the office. To the left of the Mangolin office is a blue gate. Behind that fence is a separate room. Go through the blue gate and walk on to the 2 men who are playing chess and talk to them .......

  You have to talk to the 2 chess players a number of times.

  The thin guy is Anton and he is a bit worried about the Youkols. Kate learns that there is a bird aviary at the elevator and that Anton is doing the maintenance of the birds in the aviary.

  When you have finished talking, you go through the blue gate and walk in front of the office of Mangolin and then continue to the room where Kurk is located. 

There is a cart to the left of the door. It is room 5.  

Kate and Kurk Room

  Go in and talk to Kurk.

  Kurk asks if Kate can show him the folder of the elevator key. So open the inventory and then select the folder and then click on Kurk.  

  Kate shows Kurk the key folder ..... Kurk says that the smith from the Youkol tribe can repair the key.  

  Kate has to give the folder and the key to the messenger of Kurk, and that is an owl

  Walk to the right and then go to the balcony. Look for the zoom spot on the balcony and zoom in on it .....  

  .... Kate looks into the distance and she sees an owl sitting on the tower. Click on the owl to lure it to the balcony.  

Unfortunately ....... You can jump high and low or stand up on your head but that animal does not come. Go back to Kurk and talk to him again ........ Kurk tells that Kate has to find something with which she can lure the owl to her. Leave the room and walk through the courtyard back to the elevator. To the left of the elevator is a bird aviary with automaton birds. Enter there

  Zoom in on the door of the bird cage ........ The door is locked ..... Click on the left bird to view it and hear what Kate has to say about it

  Exit the close-up and leave the bird cage again. Walk through the courtyard back to the blue fence, to the left of Mangolin's office. Go through the blue fence again and ........ Anton is sleeping on the bench. Steal the Birdcage key, which hangs around Anton's neck.

  Walk back to the bird cage with the birds and open the gate with the key, select the key and click on the lock. When the gate is open, click on the left bird with the white dot, Kate take the bird.  

  Kate and Kurk Room

  Go back to Room 5 where Kurk is located and continue to the balcony. Zoom in on the balcony at the zoom position in the "windows"

  When Kate looks at the Owl again you open the inventory and select the mechanical bird ...... Then click with the bird on the white tip and ........

  Kate puts the bird on the edge .......

  You will then see Kate and the mechanical bird from the balcony perspective ...... Now click on the white tip of the mechanical bird to wind up the mechanical bird.

 

  Cut scene ........ The mechanical bird is fluttering and the owl comes a little later and then sits next to the mechanical bird.  

  Kate now puts the key and the folder in the owl's backpack, which then flies away.  

Of course Kate goes back to Kurk ...... Kurk is hypnotized and an injection is given to him and then comes Dr. Olga inside. Talk to Dr. Olga. After the 1st series of call options you have to make a choice ..... You can leave it at rest and then walk out of the room. Or you protest further and then Kate get an injection by the ugly Olga.

  Choose the "Calm" option. Kate then leaves the room and sits in the courtyard waiting for the delicious Olga to finish with Kurk .....

 

  There will be a conversation between Kate and Olga and then Kate will enter the room again.

  Go straight to the Balcony and ....... On the edge of the balcony is the Owl ..... Click on the owl and .....  

Kate takes the repaired key back from the owl's bag and returns to Kurk. Kurk is now awake. Talk to Kurk. Kurk says that if Kate wants to help, she has to go to Valsembor to get his leg prosthesis. Leave the room and run back to the elevator. Zoom back in on the lift lock and insert the repaired key into the lock

  The elevator door now opens .... Use the elevator and ......

  Kate steps into the elevator and she presses the elevator button and we drop down. Kate automatically gets out of the elevator. Walk to the counter.

  Make sure you get the talk cursor on the woman sitting behind the desk and then go talk to her

  Talk to the counter woman about all the topics you get ....

  The counterwoman tells about the clinic, about Dr. Zamiatin and she also tells that the cable car is currently out of service due to maintenance.

  Kate now wants to talk to the big boss of the clinic, and that is the aforementioned Dr. Zamiatine.

  Walk around the counter to a small opening in the wall and then go through the opening into the corridor ......  

In the corridor the bottom door is of the office of that sexy Dr. Olga. The upper door is from the office of Dr. Zamiatine and that door is open so enter there and ...... Kate is warmly welcomed by Dr. Zamiatine. Talk to Zamiatine about anything you can talk about.

  During the conversation Kate gets a book about the Youkols from the good doctor. Talk to the doctor afterwards  

  The doctor tells that Kate can pick up the prosthesis of Kurk from one Steiner in Valsembor, but also that Kate has to receive her discharge letter from that Olga.

  Read the Youkol Book

  When the conversation has come to an end you read the Youkol book your inventory. 

Select the Youkol book and then click the "3" option "Observe" to place the book on your screen. Then browse through the book via the arrow  

  The texts in the book are in a language that we do not understand, but if you click on "2" or "read" then the texts are translated and you can read them  

  Leave the office and walk in the hallway to the Olga door. Listen at the door of Olga and ...Kate sneaks in Olga's office and she hears a video call between Olga and that mysterious Colonel.

Kate hears that there is an American private detective who has been sent to her by her boss. That detective has the order to bring Kate back to the USA. When the video call is over, Olga gets up and she disappears, but not past Kate, so where did the wonderful Olga go? Kate then steps further into the office and wonders where Olga has gone. Zoom in on the computer that is on Olga's desk.  

  Read all emails, there are 4, in the screen and click on "Quit" and ....... Kate gets to know that American detective and his name is Cantin.

Talk to Cantin and say that he can go to hell, so say that you will not go back to the states with him. Say goodbye to Mr. Cantin. Part of the long wall is covered by a curtain and a little further on is a Amour. Between the curtain and the amour a handle hangs on a chain. Zoom in on that handle and then pull it down and .......

  The curtain slides open and you see a shield hanging on the wall. View the shield in close-up  

  On the shield you can see 5 gems. You can change those gems in color but you do not know which colors to use. Zoom in on the sword of the armor and look at the hilt.  

  At the top you see 3 rings and below that a drawing that is twisted. You see dots on the middle and the left side of the rings. Pull the left dots out and up to release the rings.  

  Then turn the rings to set the drawing correctly.  

  When you have the drawing correct then the sword is pulled up and you see the color combination on the bottom of the sword.

  At the top of blue, below left green and right blue and again under 2x red.  

  Zoom out on the sword and then in on the shield and set the colors right now and the wall will slide open.  

  You find a secret passage with a lift at the end, go in there and press the elevator button.  

  Kate goes even further down with the elevator and then ends up in a crypt and there are also a number of storage tanks ....... Walk through and .......  

  Kate hears and sees dr. Olga and Dr. Mangolin, who are working on Olga's plan ..... Kate sees that they open the taps of the storage tanks to spoil the water of the Youkols  

  When the 2 doctors have disappeared you first walk to the bottom left, because at the end Kate finds a jerry can in a box. Take the jerry can

 

  Then walk back and on to the bridge and cross over the bridge to the other side. Then go to the bottom left and .....  

  At the closed door is a blue barrel on the crates ......, zoom in on it and you read that there is hydrochloric acid inside. Select the jerry can and click on the tap of that blue barrel.  

  Kate fills the jerry can with the acid. Now walk to the other end, there you will find a rowing boat in the underground river. Go down the steps to the rowing boat.  

  Zoom in on the bollard and the chain that the boat is attached to. Then select the jerry can and Kate then pour hydrochloric acid over the chain, it burns through.  

  Cut scene: Just sit down and watch ....... Kate gets into the boat and sit down for the trip over the river and the lake. In the rowing boat Katie flies out of the mountain and ....

 

  ...... through a waterfall and a rapid acceleration Kate then reaches the Youkol encampment and there she goes ashore .......
