Chapter
3: Valsembor 1: Steiner's Medicine
Kate
has reached the port of Valsembor and she stand at the back of the ferry Krystal.
Walk to the right and then along the ferry towards the crane and ..... At the
gangway of the ferry, Kate comes across a drunk. The drunk is the captain Obo,
the captain of the Krystal, the ferry. Talk to Captain Obo through all talking
options.
After
this conversation with Obo you walk further, past the crane and then you turn
right into the street ......
Inn:
Sarah Steiner
Go
in the street to the first door on the left. View the signboard ..... The sign
says that this is an inn and it is the inn of the greengrocer from whom Kate got
the unstamped pass.
Enter
the inn and walk to the bar. Behind the bar is the greengrocer. Talk to the
greengrocer.
When
Kate asks the man about Simon Steiner, he refers her to his waitress Sarah, who
is cleaning the long table.
Sarah
is the granddaughter of Simon Steiner, the clockmaker. So go and talk to Sarah.
Ask
Sarah everything you can ask but ask especially for her grandfather and where
the workshop of grandpa is. Sarah explains where Kate can find her grandfather's
workplace.

After
the conversation you leave the inn and go to the left to the yellow car, go left
into the alley and walk up to a staircase.
Go
up the stairs and turn left to the shop window. Enter the store and talk to
Simon Steiner.
Kate
asks Steiner for the prosthesis of Kurk, but it is not ready yet. Then Steiner
sees the pendant of Kate, the heart of Oscar. Steiner wants to see the pendant
and he tells a lot about it. Steiner thinks that Kate
has stolen the heart and he closes his shop door.
So
tell Steiner about Oscar or about Hans and ...... Steiner then tells lyrical
about Hans Voralberg and the automaton and then suddenly he is not well and
grabs his heart
Steiner needs his medication and Kate has to deliver it to him quickly.
Steiner's
Medicine
Go
to the wall with clocks and pick up the empty mug there.
Then
go to the right and then down the stairs to Steiner's workshop
Walk
in the basement to the workbench, past the model of the Krystal ferry. The Kurk
leg prosthesis is located on the left workbench. Zoom in on the prosthesis and
click on it
Kurk's
prosthesis is not finished yet. On the wall there is a note, zoom in to read it.
It is a letter from Sarah and she says that "Grandpa should not forget to
take his medicine 3 hours before eating". Zoom out and walk to the right
and pick up a newspaper from the workbench.
Read the newspaper in your inventory.
The
article is about an incident in the Baranour nuclear power plant.
Also
take a look at the model of the ferry Krystal but do not do anything with it now
Go
back upstairs via the stairs. Back up you zoom in on the drawers, under the
counter .........
Pull
open the middle drawer in the right-hand row and then take Steiner's Recipe out.
Read
the recipe in your inventory.
Turn
around and go to the wall on the right of the stairs, in the middle there is a
house / clock. Zoom in on that house clock
Place
the empty mug on the shelf, under the clock.
Then
pull the glass plate of the clock
to the side. You can then move the 2 hands. Grandpa normally eats at 20.00 and
he has to take his medication 3 hours in advance.
3
hours before 20.00 hours is 17.00 hour, so it must be 5 o'clock on the clock
Turn
the small hand to 5 and then turn the big hand to 12 and .......
As
soon as you have the clock at 5 o'clock the mug will be filled with the medicine
.......
When
it is ready, take back the mug now filled with the medicine. Zoom out, turn to
Steiner and give him the mug with the medicine and ....
........
Steiner drinks his medicine and immediately he feels better and he is now
willing to help Kate.
Ask
Steiner again about the prosthesis and insist on haste because Kate still has a
lot to do.
Steiner offers to bring the prosthesis to Kurk and then take Kurk to
the Youkols. Steiner warns Kate about what to expect in Baranour.
Steiner
then goes to the cellar and he wants Kate to follow him. So follow Steiner down.
Back in the basement, see an open box, at the bottom of the stairs.
Zoom
in on the open box and then move aside a number of film rolls to the right until
you find a film roll with the inscription: Baranour and a drawing of an octopus.
Take
the film roll and walk to the projector, which is in the corner on the workbench.
Open
the inventory, select the film roll and place the film roll on the projector and
.........
The
film is played and the film shows Kate what happened in Baranour, making Captain
Obo a drunk
In
the meantime, Sarah has come in ...... When the film is over Steiner goes back
upstairs. So follow Steiner back up and talk to Steiner and Sarah.
Because
the lake no longer freezes Kate wants to take the Youkols to the other side by
ferry Krystal. But Kate has to persuade Captain Obo to sail the Krystal with the
Youkols to the other side of the lake. Sarah has to go back to the inn and Kate
also, because Obo is in the inn.
Leave
the Steiner store and follow the route through the street back to the yellow car
and then turn right to the inn
Persuade
Captain
Obo to sail the Krystal
Inn
Enter
the inn again. Walk in to the left, to the corner to the left of the fireplace.
In the corner next to the fireplace, Captain Obo from the Krystal, is drinking
to get drunk. Talk to Obo
Kate
tries to persuade Obo to sail the Youkols to Baranour with the Krystal. Obo is
not only drunk, but also too scared to sail ever with the Krystal over the lake.
Kate
needs some help to sober up Obo, so walk to the bar and talk to Sarah and the
bartender about Captain Obo.
The
bartender will then make a drink to sober the captain. Ask the bartender
everything about Obo and what happened in Baranour.
Then go back to captain Obo
and click on him again and ....... Once Kate is back at Obo, Sarah will bring
the "sobering" drink ......
After
Obo has the drink, the captain is clear again and now Kate can have a normal
conversation with him.
Talk
to Obo now through the all options you get and try to get him to agree to
transfer the Youkols to Barounor with the Krystal. You have to use the right
options for this and those options come in 2 series. Make sure you can hit Obo
in the 2nd series in his pride, so in the 2nd series use the option
1 "Touch him in his pride" and ....
Kate
makes Obo angry by suggesting that if Obo does not want to sail the Krystal she
will buy the barge to sail away with it herself. Captain Obo doesn’t allow
that and he is prepared to sail the Krystal but there are conditions that he
specifies. Obo then leaves the inn to go to the Krystal to make preparations.
Sarah warns Kate that she should not hesitate now because if she waits too long,
Obo may change his mind again.
NB:
If you went wrong here, Obo refuses to sail the Krystal and stays in the Inn
Sarah
also speaks to Kate and says that Kate should look for other arguments on the
ferry to convince Obo
Leave
the inn. Now go back to the quay and then follow the quay to the right, to the
steps of the Krystal ferry.
Climb
the stairs to the deck of the Krystal and then enter the passenger cabin,
through the side door or the door on the forecourt. Inside you walk to the
middle and a little to the back, then to the left or to the right there are
stairs to the top. Above you find the bridge / wheelhouse, at the top of the
first stairs you go to the middle. On the shelf along the wall behind the
steering wheel is a suitcase and there is a book, it is the logbook of the
captain.
Take
the logbook and read it in your inventory.
The
logbook contains the arguments for Kate to persuade Obo to sail the Krystal. If
you did not manage to get to Obo in the inn, you will now leave the ship and
return to the inn. In the inn you walk back to the corner where Obo is still
sitting. Talk to the captain again and, because Kate has read the log, she can
persuade him to take the Youkols to the other side by ferry. After the
conversation, the captain gets up and goes to the ferry. Sarah says to Kate that
she has to hurry before the captain changes his mind. Go back to the ferry and
go up to the bridge / wheelhouse, there is Obo.
Talk
to Obo and he will give you a paper with a code and Kate needs this code to
enter the warehouse where the coal is located.
Kate
also needs the code for the crane to load the coals on the ship, but to do so
she first has to open the hatch of the coal.
