Torin's Passage Chapter 1

If you have found this walkthrough via google search or via another site then you have probably not visited my site.

Torin automatically ends up back in the yard in front of the house and a mysterious figure appears, whose name turns out to be Pecand. Pecand claims that he saw what just happened here and that Torin's parents were kidnapped and are now in "The Lands Below". Pecand says there is only 1 person who can do this kind of magic and that is sorceress Lycentia

We then see that Pecand is none other than the evil wizard who, years ago, wanted to kidnap the baby prince.........

.....which he didn't succeed in because the Nanny took the baby just in time. The Baby Prince was then placed by the Nanny with people of humble origins who raised the boy as their own son. Torin, meanwhile, has walked back to the crossroads of paths on the hill and you now take control of Torin and his trusty buddy dog Boogle for the first time.

The bottom part of the screen consists of the Inventory with the Holographic Projector.

The book, on the left, is the Journal in which you can read all the dialogues.

Above the inventory are 2 buttons with which you can switch between Torin and Boogle.

You are currently Torin, so the Torin button is enabled now. If you need to play as Boogle, click the Boogle button.

In the middle you see the Skip button with which you can skip the cut scene movies and you see a point counter because there are points to be earned in the game.

On the far left you see a question mark ..... that question mark is on an hourglass and is the Hint function in the game. If you click on the question mark, the hourglass will rise and you will receive a hint, but those hints are time-dependent, which means that there's a 5 minutes delay before the next hint is available.

Now let's go pick up the very first item. Between the green bushes you see a bunch of red Berries ..... Click with your triangle cursor on those red Berries to pick them. The Berries end up in the inventory. Pick up the Berries and then click them on the Holographic Projector and ...... You will then see a "3-dimensional projection of the berries" .... Pick up the Berries again and click back into the inventory.

You probably also want to know how to Save and Load and Exit in the game ..... well ... move your cursor to the top left and ....

At the top left, a bar will pop up with the options "File", "Game" and "Help".

Under "File" you will find the options "New", "Open", "Save" and "Quit". To save your game click on "Save"

....you will then come to the Save a Game screen where you must type in a name for your Save and then click on the Save button.

Under "Game" you have the option to set the frequency of the Hints. You do this in the screen by moving the sand courses to the left or right.

If you often want to consult a hint, set the hourglass to 1 minute. If you don't often need a hint, set the hourglass to 5 minutes or more.

Before Torin continues on his adventure, he needs some things from the house. If you didn't take the red Berries before, you do so now..... Then double-click the arrow on the bridge again to return home. Back in the yard, take a look around. To the left of the house is the barn and a rope hangs from the lifting beam of the barn. To the right of the house is a chopping block with an axe in it.

Take the Axe and take the Rope ..... Torin is agile and can jump high so he jumps up to pull the rope from the lifting beam. When you have taken the Axe and the Rope, click the arrow on the front door of the house to enter. On the left are 2 easy chairs and a large sewing basket. Next to the left chair is a table with Torin's father's Tobacco Bag on it. Click on the table and then take the Tobacco Bag ....

The tobacco pouch is empty but Torin thinks he can use the empty pouch. Click the turn arrow to step away from the table. Then click on the sewing basket to look in the sewing basket and ....... Worm Inchie is in the sewing basket .. Torin wants to grab the worm Inchie but if you put the cursor on the worm the worm will jump back and forth quickly in the basket and you can't get Inchie .....

You have to click very quickly on Inchie to get the worm, so do your best and grab Inchie from the basket.

You need about 3 clicks on Inchie to get the worm. If you have catch worm Inchie, zoom out via the turn arrow.

Leave the house and back in the yard double click with the arrow, at the bottom left, to end up back on the hill, where we picked the berries earlier.

You can then continue through a screen to the right or down a screen via the down path.

Go down one screen and ...... down in the valley we then see the town Crystal City. Walk on to the city wall and .......

the city is walled and has a moat and Torin has ended up at the drawbridge, which stands up. To the right of the drawbridge is a window in the wall ..... click in the window and ...... Torin picks up a stone and throws the stone through the window and this attracts the attention of Bridge operator Zax, who then shows up in the window and shouts that the bridge is closed and will remain closed.

The bridge operator Zax then disappears again. Click in the window again and ..... Torin throws another stone through the window and the bridge keeper appears again, calls out to Torin and disappears again. Now keep clicking in the window until Bridgekeeper Zax no longer feels like it and no longer appears ..... Torin always throws a stone through the window and there is always a short conversation with the bridgekeeper, who then disappears again ..... You have to keep doing this until Torin no longer throws stones through the window and Zax no longer appears in the window.

Then walk back up the hill and then back to the intersection. Back at the intersection you then take the path to the right and ..... Torin will automatically continue through the forest and your screen will scroll automatically ..... The path then takes Torin past a number of "trees" with very sharp " razors" and Torin automatically jumps/clambers through a tree into the swamp and then stops on the other side of the hill.

Walk to the guardhouse and then click on the door .... the door is locked. There is a sign on the wall to the right of the door.

Read what is written on the sign....."In case of emergency...break the glass", Torin reads on the sign.

There are a number of Crystals sticking out of the ground here. In front of the left window is a somewhat smaller crystal in the ground.

Take the axe from inventory and then ram the crystal, that is in front of the left window, to smithereens and ........

Torin rams on the crystal with the axe and a piece of the crystal breaks off, which Torin catches and puts in his bag and .......

Watchman Herman appears but he won't let Torin in ..... Herman tells that he's the guardian of the entrance to "The Lands Below".

Herman tells that he has been waiting here for 11 years for his replacement and only his replacement may enter. Herman disappears again

Well ..... Herman didn't seem too bright, so knock on the door again and ....... Now Torin lies to the guard that he is his replacement and ...... Torin can enter the guardhouse. Herman has said that he is screamingly hungry and he sit down at the table. It doesn't look like Herman plans to leave anytime soon. Go talk to Herman and ........ Herman tells that it is tradition that the replacement provides a meal for the departing guard. Herman wants berry juice as a starter. When you now see the contents of Boogle's inventory, you have to click on the Torin button to make all collected items in Torin's inventory visible again. So you have red berries in inventory. Take the berries from inventory and click on Herman but Herman wants berry juice, so he wants Torin to squeeze the berries ......

......a cut scene follows in which Torin automatically puts the berries into the cup, which is in the cupboard, and squeezes it out with Boogle's help.

Then Herman drinks the berry juice with taste and then tells what he wants to eat as a main course and that is Slugs and Peat Moss

Torin doesn't have Slugs and Peat Moss yet, so we'll have to look for it. Walk to the right to exit the guardhouse, then walk down to get back up the hill. Torin is then back in the woods on the hill. Continue to the left, until the Swamp. Do not immediately jump to the large tree that is in the swamp ..... You now see the 2 "razor" trees again and the path goes up along the left tree.

Follow the uphill path and ..... We end up at a large tree with a long branch sticking out. To the right of the tree is a void ....

click on that green void and Torin climbs into the tree and walks over the lower branches and almost falls into the void ....

.......but Torin manages to regain his balance and then he tells us that that green depth is a huge Peat Bog.

Torin thinks the peat bog can't carry him, so he must come up with another way to get some of the peat moss.

Now click on the top branch and Torin climbs on the top branch and continues to the tip of the branch .......

Take the rope from inventory and click with the rope on the branch, left next to Torin......

Torin ties the rope to the branch and kicks it down ..... Now click with the Rope on Torin and .......

Torin ties the rope around his left foot. Store the rope back in inventory and then click, under Torin, on the green peat moss and .......

Torin dives down and grabs a handful of green Peat moss but he loses his bag. Torin then hangs down from the rope and his Bag is unreachable on the moss. To get back on the branch you now have to go swing Torin back and forth to the branch that you see hanging on the right ..... If Torin then swings to the right and is close to that right branch, you must quickly click on that right branch.

To start swinging, click with the active (i.e. white) triangle cursor to the right and left of Torin .....

If you click left, Torin will swing back, if you click right, Torin will swing forward .......

.....the intention is that Torin swings forward enough to reach that right branch.....

Do not click left and right quickly ..... If you click Left, you wait with right clicking until Torin has swung completely backwards and vice versa ....

As soon as you see that Torin reaches the right branch in the forward swing, quickly click on that right branch and ......

....... Torin then grabs the branch and climbs on top of it and then automatically dives back to the tree ......

Boogle will then automatically retrieve Torin's Bag from the bog and return the bag to Torin.

Click on the tree on the left with your active triangle cursor to climb back to the path

Then click the down arrow to walk back to the tree in the swamp. Then click with the oblique arrow on the tree that is in the swamp and ....

........ Torin jumps to the swamp tree again and stays on the right side of the tree.

Just behind Torin, on the right side of the tree, a short twig sticks out and on that twig there are 2 Snails.

Click with your active triangle cursor on those 2 Snails to view them in close-up .....

Click on 1 of the 2 snails to talk to them. These are Slim and Slime and they are inseparable and they do the "High Five".

Torin asks Slim and Slime to help him catch some slugs inhabiting a tree ahead.

Slim and Slime tell that Torin needs bait to catch Slugs and they are willing to help Torin if he helps them to honor nice new and fresh tree leaves.

Click the exit arrow to get out of the close-up and then click the left down arrow to jump out of the tree to the left forest path. Continue to the left but stop at the "razor trees". Torin then stands by the regular tree that the slugs are crawling in. To the left of the slugs Tree are 2 of those "Razor Blades Trees". Walk up a screen between the 2 "Razor trees" and ........

Torin crawls into the bush behind the trees and you are in the close-up of some beautiful green leaves ...... Take worm Inchie from inventory and click with Inchie on all leaves ..... Inchie then tells how large each leaf is in shape and he will then point Torin the largest leaf ..... Then Torin tries to grab that leaf but the leaf blows away but in the end Torin manages to grab the leaf with his foot ....

When Torin has the leaf in inventory, step out of the close-up and return to Slim and Slime in the Swamp Tree. Zoom in on Slim and Slime again and give them the green Leaf and ...... Slim and Slime then tell Torin that he needs Moat Scum, Mud from a Moat, to be able to catch slugs. Well ..... Torin knows a moat and he now takes Slim and Slime on the green leaf. Crystal City is surrounded by a moat, so jump to the left out of the Tree again and continue to the left and then take the down path to:

Back at the moat of Crystal City, take the leaf with Slim and Slime from inventory and click it into the canal and ......

... Slim and Slime like it in the moat and ...... Slim and Slime's "Crock" boyfriend then delivers Torin some Moat Scum from the moat.

Stand in front of the most left "Razor tree" and don't look at the slug tree .....

The slugs then come down along the trunk and stay at the bottom of the tree .....

But as soon as Torin turns around and/or walks towards the slug tree, the slugs quickly crawl back up into the tree.

Walk to the slugsTree ...the slugs shoot back up. Take the Moat Scum from inventory and stick the mud at the bottom of the tree trunk and ........

Torin smears the mud at the bottom of the tree and hides behind the razor clam tree .....

the slugs come down and end up in the mud and Torin takes a pike dive to catch the slugs .....

We need Boogle, so click on the Boogle button to switch to Boogle. The inventory then becomes Boogle's inventory and you have 3 Boogle's ....

Pick up the Boogle Box and click with it on the Mud that you have pasted on the slug tree and ......

The slugs crawl down the trunk again and are now trapped in the Boogle Box Torin then has a Mess of Slugs in inventory.

Give the Mess of Slugs to Herman who, after Torin has prepared the meal, swallows this delicious delicacy with taste.

But Herman's hunger has not been satisfied yet ...... He also wants a dessert and that must be a Root) So leave the guardhouse again and walk up the hill again to the first "Razors" tree. Prominent in your screen is a "Carrot Tree".... At the very bottom left of the "Carrot Tree" a "Hook" carrot sticks up. Take the axe from inventory and ram the axe on the "Hook" root to ram it from the tree.

Then pick up the "Hook" carrot and return to Herman in the guardhouse. Click with the "Hook" carrot on Herman and ..... Torin will prepare Herman's dessert who then eats the carrot cake and then Herman opens the "Secret Passage" and Torin must then choose a Crystal from the crystals that Herman then has in his hand... Choose the largest Crystal, so click on the middle Crystal and .....

.............we end up outside, at the entrance to "The Lands Below".....there is a short conversation with Herman who then disappears.

Behind the round platform, near the wall, is a pillar. Click on the Pillar near the wall ......

Torin walks to the pillar and stands behind it and you are then in the close-up of the:

In the top of the pillar you see 4 holes, red, green, blue and white ..... You have to put the Crystal that you have chosen at Herman's and that is the "Clear Shard", in the correct order in each of the 4 holes to lower the 4 columns at the platform. Take the "Clear Shard" from inventory and then click it into a hole .... then take the crystal out of the hole again and put it in a another hole ...... So the color of the holes always changes ......

this is the correct order... put the "Clear Shard" in: White, White, White, Blue, Green, Red, White, Blue, Green, Blue, Red and..........

... all 4 columns have fallen down and a bowl rises from the ground. Click on the Bowlto walk to it ....

There is a powder in the bowl and Torin has to take some of this powder with him.

So take the empty Tobacco Bag from inventory and click it on the bowl and .......

On the left behind the round podium you see the round blue Gate and that gate is the entrance to "The Lands Below".

...... Torin will stand on the round podium and then he scatters some powder around and ........
