Page 2

 C: Ivo at MacGuffin's House:

Elf Ivo has now arrived at MacGuffin's house because she wants to get the book MacGuffin was talking about from the secret hiding place in the basement before the shadow army gets wind of it and comes to steal it. Birdie Tschiep-Tschiep, Ivo's companion in the forest, is chirping on top of the scarecrow.

On the right is a well in the tall grass. You can view the scarecrow and the well with your magnifying cursor and you can, with the talk cursor, chat to Tschiep-Tschiep if you feel like it.......The bird TschiepTschiep back. Enter the house through the front door

Inside:

Look at everything you can with your magnifying cursor and hear what Ivo has to say about everything.

Ivo can't find a cellar door anywhere in here. A sarcophagus leans on the wall between the oven and the bookcase.

Ivo tells about the sarcophagus that it has hinges.

After you have looked at  the sarcophagus you can click on it with your wrench, do that to open the sarcophagus

There is a mummy in the sarcophagus and it turns out to be a living mummy.  A somewhat strange conversation follows between Ivo and the mummy, who covers that Ivo is a Mortimer. Ivo gets fed up and slams the sarcophagus shut again. However, open the sarcophagus immediately again with your wrench cursor ..... The conversation that follows between Ivo and the mummy goes automatically again. The mummy still thinks Ivo is that Mortimer. Ivo asks the mummy where the cellar is, but the mummy doesn't want to say this yet, so Ivo closes the sarcophagus  again. So open the sarcophagus again for the 3rd time and ... this time you will have the opportunity to ask the mummy something ......

So ask everything you can ask the mummy, but above all ask "Do you know anything about the secret door and the cellar?" and the mummy then tells that MacGuffin always did something with a stone statue and that he then disappeared through a door that opens. The "conversation" will end by itself. A stone statue is nowhere to be seen here either, so look further around to see if there isn't a clue about such a statue somewhere.  If you have previously looked at everything with your magnifying glass cursor, you will now get the wrench cursor in various places. Under the windows is MacGuffin's desk. There is a large book on top of the desk.

Between the sarcophagus and the desk is a tool bag containing, among other things, a sieve. To the right of the desk is a small wooden box on the stone head. At the bottom of the screen is a large stone chest. To the left of the stone chest is a square socket.  Click with your wrench on the desk / open book and .......Ivo tells that the large, open book is MacGuffin's diary and she automatically reads the last entry that MacGuffin has written in his diary.  When Ivo has finished reading, click again with your wrench on the book and Ivo will also read the diary ....

MacGuffin writes that he received a book of herbs from a witch. This book of herbs not only describes all kinds of recipes for remedies for cold feet, but also contained a travelogue of an elf who has been on a "world trip". That elf describes in his report that he discovered the ruins of a temple on an island in the West Sea and that he saw runes in that temple, which he copied. MacGuffin translated those runes and thus discovered the key to ending the war. MacGuffin then sent his servant to the Archmage to report his find. However, MacGuffin's servant never reached the Archmage.

To the right of the diary are also a number of rolled up documents on the desk.  If you haven't already looked at those rolled-up documents with your magnifying cursor, do so now so that Ivo sees them and tells about them.  You then get your grab hand on those documents, so grab those rolled up papers. in inventory you have the "Unimaginably valuable documents".  if you haven''t done already, look at the wooden box that is on the stone head and then click on it with your wrench, but unfortunately ..... the box is locked.

Examine the Stone Chest. Ivo tells that the stone box has a decoration of 2 Angels and that there is an inscription on it that she cannot read. Click with your wrench on the stone Chest and Ivo slides the lid of the stone chest open and sees that the it  is full of sand .... Ivo immediately has the feeling that it is suddenly much warmer in here ..... Try if Ivo wants to search through the sand in the box (search through the sand) ....

It is very fine sand, which the stone box is full of, so Ivo find nothing in  it with her hands. f you have already looked at MacGuffin's tool bag/box with your magnifying glass, you will now get the grab hand on it and you will read that there is a Sieve in the bag.... So take the Sieve from the tool bag.

Immediately take the Sieve from inventory and click it on the sand in the stone chest and ....

Ivo sifts through the sand and she eventually finds a small copper Key in the sand. The copper key ends up in inventory and you lose the sieve again. So use this copper key on the small wooden box to open the box now. Ivo finds a letter in the box... Ivo immediately reads the note aloud.

The note tells about a machine that knows all the secret places in this house. If a saucer containing a special liquid is placed between the "feet" of the machine, the machine will point out those secret places for you. The special liquid is made from ground beans that have been poured over with boiling water.

The note disappears to the inventory. When Ivo has finished reading, click with your magnifying cursor on the now opened box and ........ there is still something in the box and Ivo takes that item out automatically .... It turns out to be a stone hexagonal stone disc. Take another look at the Socket, which is on the left of the large stone sand chest ...... Ivo examines the socket again and now sees that it contains a hexagonal cavity. So take the hexagonal stone disc from inventory and put the button in the base and .......

.......... a statue will rise from the base and you will automatically enter the close-up.At the feet of the statue stand a cup. Look at the statue and look at the cup. This statue must be the "machine" Ivo read about. There is some brown sludge at the bottom of the cup. Talk to the statue via the talk cursor and ..... Ivo asks the ghost in statue in the statue for beans and .....

.......after some insistence, the statue spits out a handful of aromatic beans and you then have them in your inventory . Click the door cursor to step out of this close-up. Coffee must  be made with the coffee beans. The stove is in here, but the fireplace is outside. Before you go outside again take a look at the Knight statue that stand on the stove, the washtube that stand next of the stove and the glass eye that's above the entrance. Then go outside.

Outside:

Under the huge chimney the Stove is built into the outer facade of the house. A metal extentable arm protrudes from the left edge of the stove. To the right of the stove is a grinding stone. To the left of the fireplace is a pile of firewood with an upturned flower pot on top and a watering can. Above the front door you see a little window with a shutter. Look at all these things first

So check out the stove, the extentable arm, the watering can, the firewood and the flower pot and the grinding stone. You can hang a pot on the metal extentable arm and then turn it into the. When you have viewed everything, you can get start making a fire in the stove. Take some logs from the pile of firewood (Kindling) . Immediately take the firewood from inventory and throw it into the stove

Then ake the precious documents from inventory and throw them in the stove as well.

Click with your wrench on the upside down flower pot to look under the flower pot and ........

...... Ivo finds a Flint under the flower pot. Immediately take the flint from inventory and click with it in the stove to light up the wood and paper .....

You now have fire in the stove. Take the coffee beans from inventory and place them on the grinding stone .....

Ivo puts the beans between the 2 round stones ... Then click with your wrench on the wooden crank that is on top of the grinding stone and .....

.......Ivo grinds the beans into powder and puts the coffee powder back in inventory. Take the watering can now.

Walk to the well and click with your wrench on the wooden Crank beam where the rope hangs and .......

Ivo accidentally turns the crank but the bucket does not rise ...... the rope is broken and the bucket is at the bottom of the well.

Take the watering can from inventory and click it on the rope and........

...... Ivo ties the watering can to the rope and ...... the watering can automatically sinks into the well and automatically Ivo cranks the watering can back up and you have a watering can with water in your inventory. Hang the now full watering can on the metal extendable arm of the stove and.......

...... then click with your wrench on the metal arm to hang the watering can above the fire and .....

..............after a few seconds Ivo screams that the water in the watering can is boiling, so click on the metal arm again to turn the watering can off the fire .....

Ivo will automatically pick up the watering can again. Open the inventory and pick up the coffee powder and click the coffee powder into the watering can with boiling water and you have the "fuel" for the figurine. Go back into the house. Zoom in again on the "machine" on the pedestal by clicking on it with your wrench

In the close-up, empty the watering can with the coffee into the cup and ...

....... the ghost in the "machine" is delighted with the delicious coffee and .....

...after some shouting by Ivo you will automatically leave the close-up and in the floor of the room then the hidden spiral staircase to the basement opens.

Click with your magnifying glass and then with the door cursor in the round stairwell and .... Ivo descends the spiral staircase and ends up in the:

Basement:

In the basement, Ivo is stopped by a gate with iron bars. Ivo thinks that MacGuffin's book must be behind that barred gate. The gate has no handle but it does have 3 stone figures, each containing a colored gemstone. A wooden staff leans against the stone pillar. Behind the wooden staff is a wooden box and on top of that box is a Garden shears. Between the chest and the staff is an inverted funnel on the floor. On the left behind the spiral staircase you see a relief (mural) on the wall and there is also a stone figure on a pillar holding up a round mirror. There is also a lot of junk at the bottom of the screen.

Look at the 3 stone figures on the gate. The left figure is a bird with a blue sapphire eye, the right figure resembles a dog and has a red ruby eye. The top figure is a spider and has a green emerald in its back. Look at the wooden staff .... the staff is about 2 meters long and has a bronze tip. Ivo thinks there should also be a ruby in the staff. Look at the inverted funnel on the floor between the staff and the box with the scissors on it. Check out the garden shears. Look at the wall relief .... The relief shows a man holding a long staff and in the tip of the staff is a jewel, on which a ray of light shines. The beam of light then falls through the jewel in the staff on the 3 stone jewels of the 3 stone figures of the gate. Look at the stone statue holding up the mirror in her hands

the relief teaches us that the staff is the tool to open the bar gate. But then there must be a ruby in the staff to send a beam of light to the 3 jewels in the 3 stone figures. You should then be able to direct the light beam with the round mirror of the left stone figure. But again Ivo finds a ruby? Now first take the Garden Shears and then go back up the spiral staircase.

To the left of the stove is a green cupboard and under that green cupboard is a washtub.

Look again at the wash tub and listen to what Ivo says about it again.

The wash tub is half full of water with MacGuffin's dirty laundry floating in it and Ivo sums up what's floating there and she also says what colors the dirty laundry has. However, Ivo does not find a ruby in the tub. Click with your grab hand on the knight statuette and .... Ivo takes the round silver shield of the knight.

Still no ruby found, so walk outside. Behind the scarecrow is a large tree .... the bottom between the scarecrow and that tree is covered with boulders that are overgrown with ivy (undergrowth) ..... Look at the boulders overgrown with ivy, so look at the bottom with your magnifying cursor behind the scarecrow (look at the undergrowth).....

Ivo reports that she sees a boulder with something written on it, but that she cannot read it because of the ivy ...... she thinks it is the gravestone. You now get the wrench on the cobblestones, but if it clicks, Ivo says that she cannot dig out that tombstone with her bare hands. So take the Garden Shears from inventory and click it on the cobblestones and .....

Ivo cut away some ivy .... then look at the gravestone with your magnifying glass ....

the gravestone is made of granite and it has "Kinkski" written on itYou cannot take the gravestone.

Still no ruby found and the only "person" Ivo can ask is that wacky mummy in the sarcophagus.

So go back inside and open the sarcophagus again

ask the crazy mummy: "Do you know where I can find the jewel for the staff in the cellar?".....The mummy indeed knows where the ruby can be found because he has hidden it at the request of MacGuffin himself. However, mummy only wants to tell Ivo where he has hidden the ruby if she can convince him that she is a good friend of MacGuffins. Mumsky then asks why he would give a complete stranger MacGuffin's ruby,. Say that Mortimer has sent you. ... Ivo must then give the correct answer to 3 questions from the Mummy...

Mummy still sputters, so continue saying "You don't know?! But you surely have to know that!" and......Ivo continues to bluff and then finally the mummy spits out the ruby which is gracefully caught by Ivo. Ivo automatically closes the sarcophagus again and you are out of the close-up.

On the wall relief in the basement you saw that a ray of light from the sun must be "sent" through the staff to the 3 figures of the gate. However, the sun's rays do not reach the cellar now and Ivo must do something about that now. Walk back to the left, to the broken entrance of the house. There is a round lens above the entrance ...... Look at the lens with your magnifying glass, if you haven't done that before ....... Ivo tells you, among other things, that there is a hatch in front of the lens. The hatch is on the outside so walk outside and indeed on the outside the lens is covered by a hatch ......

Look at the hatch with your magnifying glass. The hatch is too high for Ivo, so go back inside and continue to the basement.

Back in the basement, now take the Staff.

Back upstairs and out again. Take the staff from inventory and click it on the hatch of the lens and .....

With the help of the staff, Ivo manages to open the hatch. Walk back inside and .... see that a ray of sunlight is now entering through the lens. The ray of sunlight falls on the frame of a broken mirror, which is on a cupboard to the left behind the spiral staircase, and is therefore not reflected further into the cellar. But Ivo can do something about that. Take the silver shield of the knight from inventory and place the shield in the frame of the broken mirror and see .....

the ray of sunlight is reflected via the shield to the round mirror on the chimney and then into the cellar. So go back down to the basement.

In the basement, the beam of sunlight through the mirror of the left figurine to the floor and that must change. In inventory, combine the ruby with the staff to place the ruby at the top of the staff. Then take the staff from inventory and place the staff in the inverted funnel, which is in front of the chest on the floor.

The statue with the mirror must now be turned so that the light beam falls via the ruby in the staff and from the staff on the 3 jewels of the gate.... Look at the mirror statue 2 times with your magnifying glass to hear Ivo talk about it 2 times. You then get the wrench cursor on the mirror figure .... Click 3 times with the wrench on the mirror statue to rotate it 3 turns and....

.... via the mirror the light beam then goes to the ruby in the staff and then to each of the 3 gate figures and ..... the bars in the gate disappear.

in the now opened niche lies a large bookon a pillar. Walk to the niche and click with your magnifying glass on the book .....

Ivo thinks this is the secret book and she reads in the book that the "Artifact of Divine Fate" is the item that can end the war.

Ivo decides to take the book to the Archmage in Seastone and she puts the book in inventory and ... we end up in:
