2020: Walkthrough by: Louis Koot

If you have found this walkthrough via google search or via another site then you have  probably not visited my site.

A lot more very detailed game walkthroughs can be found on my site at:  www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl

For this walkthrough I play the DIRECTOR's CUT version of the game.

This Director's Cut version has 2 different Endings but otherwise it is the same as the first version

Book 1:The Blight

A: Domain of Poseidon:

The game begins with the voice of Calliope telling who she is and talking about Argonus. Listen patiently to Calliope. When Calliope is finished we are on the beach and we see a huge stone warrior walking through the sea to the right. We also see the wreck of the Argus and a huge trident protruding from the sea.

Then we see that our hero Argonus, that's you,  wakes up, stands up and picks up his bag from the beach.

It is the year 1242 BC. Argonus hit the rocks with his barge the Argo and crew, off the coast of a still completely unknown Greek island. This shipwreck is entirely due to the beautiful singing of the Sirens, which Argonus could not resist. Everywhere on the beach, and also further on the island, there are petrified people. These petrified people are the inhabitants of the island and also the crew of the Argo is completely petrified, due to a plague that reigns here. The Gods are also petrified. However, the animals are not petrified and alive. Birds are flying around and sheep are walking around.

You look at such a petrified man. On the outstretched left hand of the petrified man sits a white owl. Stand close to the man. You will then get 2 open rounds that you can click on. 1 round appears on the man and 1 round appears on the owl. Left click the rounds and then listen to what Calliope says about the man and the pigeon ....

I'm not going to write out what Calliope has to say on everything. This man is Tiphys, the helmsman of the Argo

Then turn around to the sea. In the sea 2 petrified crewmembers of the Argo try to walk onto the beach, which they do not succeed because it is quite difficult to get ahead when you are petrified. The rear guy is Hylas and the front one is Acastus son of King Pelias. You can also see the wreck of the Argo

Make sure you get the rounds on the 2 petrified swimmers, then left click on it and listen again to what Calliope has to say. Do the same on the wreck of the Argo. Then turn left and ..... Right next to the crashing waterfall you see the stone Amphititre, goddess of the Sea, standing on the rock in a seductive pose.

At the waterfall and Amphitrite the wreck of a rowing boat is lying on the beach, we will now take a look over there.

Turn slightly left again and follow the beach to the waterfall and then to the right, into the corner where the rowing boat is moored.

There are 2 petrified children in front of the rowing boat. Well .... even in ancient times child abuse was the order of the day. Continue to the rowing boat and then look up to Amphitrite. Get the round on Amphitrite and then click to hear some more comments from Calliope. Then look down at the rowing boat wreck. You get 2 rounds in the wreck. The circle on the left comes on a Glistening Stone lying in the sand. Click the right circle first. Then make sure you get a hand in the left circle. Then left click to hear what Calliope has to say about the stone.

Then right click to grab the stone and store it in your inventory. We will call this stone the Keystone, because soon you will open a door with it

Via the E-key of your keyboard you open the Inventory screen where you can view the stone further by left-clicking on it.

Turn around and walk to the petrified children.

I will not explain further about the circles and that you have to left-click on all petrified people and objects / items to hear Calliope's comment about it. At the children a Mosaic Shard is lying in the sand. Make sure you get the round with the closed hand on the shard, then right click to get the shard

You take the Mosaic shard and store it in your bag.

Press your E-key to open the inventory. You will see your picked up items on the left, which are now the Keystone and the Mosaic shard.

Left click on an item to see that item in your screen. Calliope then tells something about it

Now go to the waterfall. Stand in front of the waterfall. You can have Calliope tell you about the waterfall.

Then turn around. You then look out over the beach from the waterfall

Collecting Planks:

There are planks lying on the beach, here and there. Those planks are wreckage from the Argo and other ships that have run aground here. We are now going to collect these planks as we stroll further down this beach. In the meantime, you will then also left-click on all petrified people and objects to listen to Calliope's comments. Here on this beach you can score8 wreckage planks

Right in front of you lies a thick boulder, near the bush of tall grass. At that boulder lies Plank 1. Walk to the boulder and make sure that you get the hand circle on the plank.

Then right click to pick up the plank

Further on is a toppled column on the beach. Plank 2 is next to that column. Walk to the column

Make sure you get the round with closed hand on the plank again. Take the plank

Look at the Argo and the trident. The trident rises from the sea, behind a pile of large rocks.

In front of those large rocks there is a pile of smaller rocks on the beach and there is also Plank 3

So walk to that pile of little rocks, if a stupid sheep gets in your way, just kick the beast. Grab Plank 3

A little further on, on the edge of the beach, Plank 4 is located near a small rock.

So walk on to Plank 4 and pick it up

Now is the time to open your Map of this area. So press your M key to open the map. On the map you now see The Beach, because there you are now

The more you explore the beach, the more things will appear on the map. Now click on The Beach and then listen to Argonus read from his diary

Right-click and then press your M-key again to store the map.

Then walk to the high rocks and then follow the tall grass to the right and then around the rocks.

You will then encounter Plank 5. Grab Plank 5

You are now on the next part of the beach and right in front of you see the Trident.

You will also see a mast on the beach, and a fishing net and a petrified man with a petrified dog.

Plank 6 is just in front of the mast, so walk over to it and pick up plank 6

You can click on the mast and on the trident to hear the commentary of the ubiquitous Calliope.

Then walk on to the man with his dog. Click the man, the dog and the fishing net and listen to Calliope. Plank 7 is in the tall grass by the rocks

Then go to the tall grass by the rocks and .....

then pick up Plank 7, which is in the high grass near a rock

Pegasus the winged horse

Continue to the right and then go left up the hill..... The winged white horse Pegasus is waiting for you at the tree

Don't get too close yet because Pegasus will gallop away.

First get the round on Pegasus, then click to hear Calliope's commentary about the horse. Then climb further up and .......

Pegasus then gallops away ..... Follow Pegasus further up to the end and .......Pegasus then flies away to the left, to the huge petrified warrior

You can click on the petrified warrior. So you're on top of the cliff here and this is a Dead End.

From the petrified warrior, turn clockwise and look down. Below you will see an isthmus that you can click on.

Turn further to the right and you will see a Stone Door, flanked by two statues of gods. Calliope tells you about it.

The left image represents Minos, the king of Crete. The statue on the right is Pasiphae, the daughter of Helios

Turn around and walk back down to the beach .....

Just before you reach the beach again, go to the tree on the right.

A plant grows at the base of this tree and you have to get that plant. It is a Mandragora Plant

So zoom in on the plant and then rip it out of the soil

Now walk further down, back onto the beach. You have now taken a nice walk and meanwhile picked up 7 planks and the Keystone a Mosaic Shard and the Mandragora Plant. There is still 1 plank to pick up here and we will do that now before we go to the next area.  Walk back over the beach towards the waterfall. At the rock where you found Plank 1, turn left

Go forward ... on the right side of this path you will see a rock. Plank 8 is near that rock

So go pick up Plank 8

Follow this path further forward and you will reach the corner and here a stone staircase path goes up

Climb up the stone staircase path and when you reach the top you will see the petrified Argonaut Palaemonius standing in the grass

Go hear what Calliope has to say about poor Palaemonius.

Then turn right and follow the path further up. The path then becomes a staircase. Above the first steps, a mother with her daughter is petrified on a stone bench

Climb further up and go to the bench

Click on mom and daughter to hear Calliope again. Your 2nd Mosaic Shard is also on the bench. Take the Shard

Climb up the next steps. It makes no sense to climb the top series of steps as the stairs are blocked by the waterfall here. Standing on the plateau, turn clockwise. Between the trees you see a petrified Argonaut on a branch. Zoom in on that, so continue to the edge of the path

This petrified Argonaut is Castor and above him a necklace hangs from the branch. Castor was petrified trying to get that necklace.

You too can't get the necklace now because the stupid thing is hanging too far away from you. You need something to grab the necklace with

Because of the waterfall you can not go further up to Poseidon's temple. So go back up to the petrified Palaemonius.

Athena

To the left is the stairway to the beach, but now go straight past Palaemonius and follow the forest path

Follow this forest path until you see 2 petrified Argonauts on the right side. Take one more step and ......

... a hand now forces Argonus to his knees and we hear Calliope again. Lying in the grass, Argonus sees 2 snakes girls for sliding and .....

...... when the snake girls are gone the goddess Athena appears. Listen to her ....

Athena is the Patroness of all craftsmen and artists and the Goddess of Battle. She is also the namesake of the city of Athens. Athena fears that she is responsible for the plague that has hit the island and that is why she wants to make amends. Athena tells that many of Argon's companions are still alive and orders Argonus to search for them. Athena will then provide a boat with which we can leave this island.

After her talk, Athens disappears, but she remains omnipresent to keep a protective eye on Argonus

Your map and diary has now been updated again so if you want to view it, press the M key.

Click on the Athena circle and you will hear Argonus tell about this encounter with Athena

Take a look at the two petrified Argonauts, they are Oileus and Phalerus.

From  Oileus and Phalerus you follow the path the path further

You will then reach the severed Hydra Head

Behind the Hydra head there are again a few petrified Argonauts in the grass and behind those Argonauts you can see the many-headed snake, the Hydra,

View the severed Hydra Head. You have to do something with this head but you don't have the tools yet

To the right of this severed Hydra head is a lonely tree on the edge. You can pick a plant at the base of that tree.

Walk to the tree and zoom in on the plant and then pick the plant, it is the Black Nightshade plant

Go ahead and left click on all petrified Argonauts gathered here. As usual, Calliope has something to say about each of them. They are Canthus, Eribotes, Calais, Taenarus and Asterius. Then walk on to the petrified Hydra, the multi-headed snake, and also view it

Past the Hydra, the path ends, but on the far edge is a lonely tree.

A spear sticks in the trunk of that tree and Argonus needs that spear badly to be able to grab the necklace at Castor.

So walk on to the last tree, behind the Hydra, then pull the Spear out of the tree.

It is dead end here, or you have to jump of this cliff. But Argonus has no desire to commit suicide at all, nor does Athena allow it. So turn around and walk all the way back to the 2 Argonauts where Athena showed up earlier. Then follow the path further back but not all the way back to Palaemonius.

Poseidon: The God of Water:

When the path curves to the right you see a huge stone head against the rock. Go to this stone head

The Head is on its side and with its left ear in the sand. Just in front of the left Eye of the Head is a small pillar.

The Left Eye is actually a round stone door that closes the entrance to the cave and the lake.

Stand in front of the pillar. In the top of the pillar there is a "dimple" .... You get the open hand to indicate that you have to put something in the pillar. Open the inventory (E key). Left click on the Keystone and then hold your mouse button and drag the stone from the inventory to the pillar and to the "open hand".

The "open hand" increases as soon as you place the stone on it, so click to insert the keystone into the pillar and .....

The "Eye" of the Head now rolls open, so dive into the cave and follow the path through the cave to the lake

Walk into the lake, it is shallow water. On the other side you see a white stone against the bank.

Wade through the water to that white stone. A purple plant grows near the white stone. Pick the purple plant

Wade further through the lake to the slope path and follow the path up to the Temple of Poseidon

In front of the Temple, two stone fish spit water, causing the waterfall that descends next to Amphitrite and thus blocks the stairs at the bench where Mommy and her child sit.

These two gargoyles should be turn off but how?

Turn around. At the middle of the temple stairs stand a petrified woman.

Walk to the petrified woman. Left click on the petrified woman and the two stone spitting fish to hear what Calliope has to say about it.

Then climb the wide stairs to the temple. Upstairs, the temple priest is already waiting for you.

Unfortunately, the best man cannot give you his blessings because the priest is also quite petrified.

In the back left  a woman is trying to run out of the temple, probably on the run from the wrath of god Poseidon, who is standing at the back of his podium

Behind the woman is a bench and behind the bench a vase stand at the wall. Walk  to the bench.

Your 3rd Mosaic shard is on the bench. Take the shard

You can get some comments about the vase from Calliope.

God Poseidon, the God of Water, towers petrified above everyone. Stand directly in front of Poseidon, then look up at his Divine Head. You get the circle with open hand on Poseidon's head to indicate that you have to give or show Poseidon something. But you don't have that item yet. Left click the circle to hear Calliope.

To the right of Poseidon you see a small white thing on the wall pillar. That little thing is Athena in disguised as a white owl. You can click on the owl to hear Calliope's comment about it. Do this several times until Calliope repeats itself. Then go behind Poseidon. Behind Poseidon you see a small hole in the floor ........ from that hole comes yellow light. Check out that hole and hear what Calliope has to say about it.

You will find more of these holes in the other temples that you must visit ..... They are Travel Portals that allow you to travel quickly from one temple to another temple, in another Domain. But this hole doesn't work yet because you haven't found the other temple that this Poseidon hole is connected to. Check out all the wall mosaics and the vase on the other wall to hear Calliope's comment.

Then leave the temple again. Because of the fish gargoyles you cannot go back down the stairs, so you have to go back through the lake and the cave.

At the bottom, turn right and run forward and then go back down the path to the lake and the cave.

Wade back through the lake and past the white stone to the right and out of the water.

Follow the cave / tunnel to the exit / entrance and through it

Immediately turn over to the pillar and take the Keystone back from it.

You will need the Keystone later so don't forget this. Fortunately, the cave remains open

When you have taken the Keystone back, follow the forest path back to Palaemonius

From Palaemonius you follow the path, and the stairs, back to Castor, who still tries to grab the necklace

Argonus needs the necklace because he has to show the thing to Poseidon. Make sure you are fully zoomed in on the necklace again. Then open the Inventory (E key). Left click in inventory on the Spear and hold down your mouse. Then drag the Spear to the Necklace, up to the circle with the closed hand in it.

The circle gets bigger when you hit it with the spear, so CLICK and ..... Argonus angles the Necklace with the spear into his bag.

Because of the waterfall, caused by the two water spitting fish, you now have to return to the Poseidon Temple via the cave and the lake.

So follow the route back to the Stone Head and dive back into the cave

Through the cave, the lake and the uphill path back to the temple. Turn around and continue to Poseidon.

Stand in front of Poseidon again, look up at his face and then drag the Necklace from the inventory to the Hand circle and ....

... Argonus shows Poseidon the necklace and it pleases God to step out of his petrified state.

Poseidon comes alive and speaks to Arganus .... Listen to Poseidon .....

As a thank you for the necklace, Poseidon has opened a "new Path". After his speech, Poseidon returns to his petrified state.

If you look in the inventory you will see that you still have the Necklace. Open the Map (M-key) and see ..... The whole Poseidon Domain is now filled in on the map.

You also see that at Amphitrite the waterfall has now disappeared .... there is now the passage to the next Divine Domain, of the god Hera

Click on the circle at Poseidon's Temple and listen to Argonus then read about Poseidon from his diary

Leave the temple and see ...... The fish have "dried up" .... the waterfall has disappeared, so you can now go back to Palaemonius via the stairs path, so do that

At Palaemonius, turn left and go down, back to the beach. Walk back to Amphitrite via the left path

The waterfall has disappeared and there is now a passage here to the next area.

So go through the passage between the rocks and then follow the beach to two pillars

Run between the pillars and ....... there will be a LOADING

After LOADING you have entered a new area and .......

Argonus is attacked by three harpies, mythical creatures, half bird, half woman human. The Harpins fly away and Argonus gets up. We ended up in:
