Chapter 3:

The chapter begins with the memorial service in the church. Lady Victoria has just been buried and Father Fredericks provides Adrian with some good advice. There is also a chat with Winterbottom and that weirdo Inspector Spooner. Spooner is still convinced of Adrian's guilt and tells Adrian that he will continue to pursue him, now that Adrian has been officially declared a British citizen. After the conversation with Spooner, Adrian walks into the woods.

Forest hut:

In the forest, Adrian stops at the forest path that leads to the Forest Hut. 

Adrian thinks he hears something and he decides to go to the Forest Hut . So click the "To the hut" exit cursor on the forest path and... 

......Adrian walks on to the Forest Hut. Knock on the door of the cabin and. Adrian thinks that Ralph is in the cabin and so he knocks on the door and..... Ralph is indeed in the cabin. However, Ralph does not want to let Adrian in, so a conversation follows through the closed door. Continue talking to Ralph through all the conversation options you are given. As you remember from Black Mirror 2, Ralph is a little bit crazy, so Ralph doesn't make much sense. Ralph is a little sad because his doll, Mr. Buddy, has lost an eye.. Open the map and travel to:

Black Mirror Castle:

At the gate of the castle the two construction workers, Gregory and Steve, are waiting for Adrian and a conversation follows.

Adrian is now officially recognized as Adrian Gordon, the only living Gordon. As such, Adrian is also the heir to the Gordon fortune and so he is now also the new "Lord of the Manor" of Black Mirror Castle. So the duty and burden to renovate the castle now rests on Adrian's shoulders. Nurse Valentina Antolini has left, because her patient Lady Victoria has died. However, Antolini has not paid the construction workers and the two would like to "catch" and they want to know how to proceed with the renovation and whether they will still get paid for the work that has already been done. However, Adrian does not know whether he has inherited any money, apart from the castle

The letter box hangs on the left pillar of the small gate. There is mail sticking out of the letterbox, so click with your eye on the letter box. Adrian takes a Letter to Adrian Gordon and the Newspaper  from the letterbox. Right-click in inventory on the Letter and on the Newspaper to read them. Adrian takes the letter out of the envelope and then he reads the "scribble" out loud.

 It's a riddle and an assignment for Adrian. Adrian reads: "The Guardian's third virtue is mercifulness" and it means that everyone who seeks help should be helped. The newspaper contains the photo Adrian took of himself for Murray. Adrian immediately throws the newspaper away in disgust. Walk through the small gate to the castle.  There is a construction scaffolding against the right corner of the castle. Click with your eye on the facade of the castle, to the left of the construction scaffolding (Facade) and Adrian reports that a lot of work still needs to be done to restore the castle to its former glory. At the bottom of the construction scaffolding is construction worker Gregory's lunch box. Click on the Lunchbox with your grabbing hand and.....Adrian steals a bunch of Toothpicks from the lunchbox.

Enter the castle through the front door. Adrian is back in the great hall of the castle. Take a look at everything you can see in the hall..

The central point in the hall is the Globe, which stands on a pillar in the stone circle. The globe is made of metal. The pillar on which the globe stands is the "Foundation Stone". There is a secret compartment in that pillar, but that compartment is empty. Adrian had already discovered that secret compartment in Black Mirror 2. There is a bucket on the edge of the stone circle. The bucket contains wallpaper paste.

 In the corner, left behind the globe, is the fireplace and on the "roof" of the fireplace is the coat of arms (Coat of arms) of the Gordon family. Behind the globe on the right is a roll of vapor-proof sheeting. Adrian reports that he cannot use this vapor barrier foil at the moment, but if he needs it, he knows where to find the foil. At the bottom right there are stairs to the first floor and the door to the sitting room (Tea room) and under the scaffolding is the door to the Kitchen. On the left is the door to the Library. Go to the:

Library:

The Library is still in excellent condition.....not affected by the fire. Between the 2 bookcases you will see a thick pillar (Columms). View Tueshe thick pillar and Adrian reports that it is a supporting pillar that supports the weight of the entire castle. To the right of the door is a niche in which the Gordon's family tree hangs. View the Family Tree. Adrian has already extensively studied the family tree in Black Mirror 2, so he won't do anything with it now. Notice the telephone that is on the desk in front of the family tree and then go back to the hall. Now go to:

Sitting room (Tea room):

In front of the large window is a horse statue on a marble base. Near the horse statue there is a small statue of Mary and 2 cherubs. There is also a grandfather clock and a writing desk. There are 2 lamps on the desk, of which you can view the right lamp. Again, first view everything with your eye cursor. When you click on the desk, Adrian automatically opens one of the drawers of the desk and in the drawer he finds bank statements and an empty envelope. The empty envelope has the Vatican stamp on it, but Adrian cannot find the letter inside, but the postmark states that the letter was sent 2 weeks ago. In inventory right click the bank statements

Adrian reads that £6,000 was paid into Lady Victoria's bank account every quarter. These deposits were always in cash, so Adrian cannot find out from the statements who deposited the £6,000 each quarter. However, the last deposit of £6,000 was 4 months ago and 2 weeks ago, Nurse Valentina Antolini, on behalf of Lady Victoria, withdrew almost all the money from the account. Adrian suspects to pay the construction workers with it.

 Leave the sitting room via the left edge of the screen to the hall. 

Then go upstairs via the stairs at the bottom right and then enter Lady Victoria's bedroom.

Bedroom Lady Victoria:

Above the bed hangs the large portrait of Maria Gordon, the White Lady.

 You've probably looked at that portrait before, but now look at it again. 

Now Adrian touches the portrait and.....Adrian touches the bloodstain that is on one of the White Lady's shoulders. 

That bloodstain disappears and becomes a black spot.

Adrian then does not dare to touch the portrait again. On the right is Lady Victoria's dressing table, with the large mirror. 

Lady Victoria's jewelry box sits on the dressing table.

Look at the Jewelery box. Adrian briefly lists which jewels are in the box. Leave the bedroom. Back in the hall you will notice that there is a narrow corridor (Passage) at the back left and above the steps. Try to walk into that hallway. Adrian reports that the hallway leads to a door, but that door is locked. Try to open that door with the keys (Bunch of keys). So click with that bunch of keys in the hallway. Adrian then walks back into that hallway but returns undone because none of the keys fit that door. There is another door on the right, between the scaffolding. Click with your exit cursor on the door between the scaffolding and Adrian ends up in a room that now serves as a storage room.

Storage room:

On the right are boxes and in the back are paintings (Paintings) and also a paint bucket (paint bucket). Look at he paintings

Adrian reports that the paintings are sooty from the smoke from the fire. 

Leave this room again (To the corridor) and return downstairs (To the hall). Back in the ground floor hall you enter the Kitchen.

Kitchen/Basement

In the kitchen you see the Cellar door . Check out the cellar door, which is of course locked.

Take the large bunch of keys from inventory again and click with it on the cellar door to unlock the door. 

Then click on the door with the exit cursor and we end up in the hall of the basement. Adrian is not immediately in the actual cellar, but in a hall where the cellar stairs are. On the left wall, to the left of Adrian, is a shelving unit with wine barrels in it. On the top shelf of the shelving unit is a spray bottle and a few hose clips.

Take the Spray Bottle and take theHose Clamps. The spray bottle contains polyurethane foam, which is used in construction to seal large cracks. An orange extension cord hangs on the other wall. Take the Extension cable. To the left of the extension cable is a light switch on the wall, for the light in the basement. When you click on the light switch you will notice that nothing happens. The light in the basement does not turn on and that is why Adrian does not want to go down the stairs to the basement. . In the left corner, of the wall where the extension cord hung, is a bucket full of salt. Go back to the kitchen and then out the back door into the backyard of the castle. 

Greenhouse (Greenhouse):

There is a burnt dry tree in the garden. Behind the tree, in the background, is the large glass greenhouse. Go to the greenhouse

Click on the greenhouse door to enter. However, Adrian first grumbles that he cannot open the door because the door is quite stuck. Click again on the door and now Adrian enters the greenhouse. Just in front of Adrian is a bucket and a green garden hose on the ground. There is also a dirty carpet on the floor. All plants are wilted and on the verge of death.

Look at the carpet. Adrian finds it strange that there is a carpet in a Greenhouse, because that is not common. Now click with your gear cursor on the dirty carpet and......Adrian rolls up the carpet and he then discovers that the tiles under the carpet are quite loose. So click with your gear cursor on those tiles , at Adrian's feet and......

.Adrian removes a number of tiles and discovers a trap door. Click with the gear cursor on the trapdoor to open it

Adrian has discovered an old well and you look into the well. At the bottom of the well you will see a suitcase.

Look at the suitcase.....How on earth does Adrian get that suitcase out of the well?

Find the Exit cursor (Back) on the left edge to get out of the close-up.

 Adrian must have something long to use to fish that suitcase up from the well. 

There is a wooden shaft against the left windows. Take the wooden shaft 

Now also take the Bucket and take the green Garden Hose. In inventory right click the bucket. There is a hole in the bottom of the bucket. In inventory combine the Wooden Shaft with the Hose Clips. Adrian attaches the clips to the shaft. Combine the wooden shaft with the cast iron M  and...Adrian has made a Grappling Hook. Click with your eye in the well to get back to the close-up of the well. Take the grappling hook  from inventory and click with it on the briefcase that is in the well and......

Adrian fishes the briefcase out of the well. Right-click on the briefcase in inventory to open the briefcase and take out a Bottle of Wine, a 10 pound banknote and a diary. Right-click on the Diary (Notebook) to read it. It is Henry Stanton's diary and Adrian reads that:

Stanton spied on the Gordon's. Stanton saw several times how Lady Victoria opened a secret compartment in the horse statue and that butler Bates closed it again, because Lady Victoria always forgot to do so. The key for that secret compartment in the horse statue is hidden in the old "Dergham Gordon".

Click the diary away and go back outside and walk back one screen to the left. Then click on the back door of the castle to enter the castle again via the kitchen. Then walk through to the large hall and enter the Tea Room again. Click on the horse statue again with your eye. Adrian reports that this is the horse Henry talks about in his diary. 

Click again with your eye on the pedestal (Marble plinch) on which the horse is standing

You now end up in a close-up of the side of the pedestal and you see that there are 7 tiny holes in the pedestal. . Look at those 7 holes and Adrian reports that something needs to be put in those holes, but what? There is a button (Suspious spot) in the edge of the pedestal, where the horse's leg rests. Look at the button. Exit the close-up, via the exit on the left, and look at the wall where the writing desk is against it. You now notice that there is a black spot on the wall above the writing desk. Look at that black spot. Say...could there ever have been a painting on this wall? Leave the room and go back up the stairs in the hall and enter the storage room again. Look again at the paintings at the back of the room with your eye. Adrian will now take a closer look at those paintings in the hope of finding the painting depicting Dergham Gordon.

But unfortunately not all paintings contain the name of the person depicted in them. Only the paintings of Lilian, Garmor and Lothar mention their names. The other painting only shows the year. Go back downstairs and to the Library. Look at  the Gordon's Family Tree again in the Library. Adrian now sees on the family tree that Dergham Gordon was married to Lilian. 

Now go back to the storage room and look at the paintings again. Adrian now also sees a year on the Lilian painting. The Lilian painting dates from 1662. Now Adrian finds the Dergham painting, which dates from 1659. The Dergham painting will now become available, so click with the eye cursor on the Dergham Gordon painting

You end up in the close-up of that painting. In the close-up, move the cursor over the right edge of the picture frame. A part of the frame is loose in the middle and you get the hand cursor on it. So click with your hand cursor on the loose piece of picture frame Adrian pries it loose and puts the piece of frame in inventory. Look at the hole that is now in the edge of the frame with your eye and..........

Adrian reports that there are 7 small holes in it, just like in the pedestal of the horse. In inventory right-click on the piece of picture frame. Also in the piece of the frame lare 7 holes, but 2 of the holes have a metal pin in them. Combine the Toothpicks  with the piece of frame. Adrian reports that the toothpicks do not fit sufficiently in the holes. Now take the Toothpicks from inventory and click with them in the hole in the picture frame to insert 7 toothpicks into the 7 holes.The 7 holes have different depths. 

Now take the piece of picture frame from inventory and click it back into the large picture frame, on the Seven Holes.

Adrian now breaks off the toothpicks to the correct length and then puts each of them in the correct hole in the piece of frame. The piece of frame is now a Hand-made key. Go back to the tea room and go into the close-up of the horse's pedestal again. Take the Homemade Key from inventory and click it into the 7 holes of the base and...... it fits and you hear "Click". Look at the button again with your eye, which is in the edge of the pedestal.... and..... Adrian now presses the button and this causes the horse to slide to the left and..... 

You have opened the Secret Hiding place. There is a lot of money in the secret compartment and also a Letter. Grab the money. Adrian only takes 1 stack of bills to pay the construction workers. Take the Letter. It is a centuries-old letter from Pope Innocent III and Adrian reads the letter out loud again.

The letter is addressed to Marcus Gordon and tells about the five small gates of Hell. The records of the Gates must be kept in the Academy, which has yet to be built. The largest of the 5 Gates is the Shadow Gate, and all data regarding this Shadow Gate must be sent directly to the Vatican. No outsider is allowed to know anything about this Shadow Gate.

When Adrian has finished reading, click on the letter to store the letter in inventory.

 Adrian then sees that someone has also written something on the back of the letter and he also reads that out loud. 

On the back of the letter it is written that the Menhir, which stands in the hall of the castle, must be hidden. 

Adrian begins to suspect that the Menhir must be directly connected to the 5 Gates of Hell.

Go back to the hall and then leave the castle through the front door, i.e. through the bottom center of the screen. The two workers, Gregory and Steve, are on the left. Steve is at work but Grergory is standing doing nothing.
 Walk to Greg. Take the banknotes (Money) from inventory and give the money to Gregory to pay the 2 construction workers.  Then continue talking to Gregory via all conversation options.

The most important thing Greg tells is that the basement is flooded. The light in the basement cannot be fixed until the water is pumped out. Greg also reports that the room on the 1st floor, where Adrian could not enter,  belonged to nurse Antolini, who always locked her room. Greg assumes that Antolini simply forgot to hand over the key when she left. Adrian orders Greg to clean the facade and.....Greg immediately gets to work. Adrian then hears the phone ringing in the Library and he runs in to answer the phone. It's Dr. Winterbottom who gently reminds Adrian that he is late for his hypnosis appointment.

At Dr. Winterbottom:

Under hypnosis, Adrian has another vision from his childhood at the castle.

Adrian sees himself playing again with his sister Angelina, who falls into the hole again.

This time, however, little Adrian looks into the hole and sees a star constellation in the hole.

Adrian then comes out of hypnosis and draws the star constellation for Winterbottom, who, however, does not recognize any known star system in it.

Adrian stores the drawing in inventory. Check whether you really have the drawing of a star constellation in inventory. Click on Winterbottom to talk with her further and use all options you get.  Then leave Winterbottom by clicking the Exit cursor on the stairs. Outside, Constable Zak is waiting for Adrian.

 Zak says that an accident has happened at the castle.

Black Mirror Castle:

 Inspector Spooner is already at the castle and he wishes to speak to Adrian there as soon as possible. So Zak and Adrian go to the castle.

At the front door of the castle, Constable tells Zak that Gregory is dead. The stone skull hanging over the gate broke off and crushed Gregory's skull. Gregory's body has already been removed.The Skull lies in a pool of Gregory's blood. View the Skull. Adrian mernotices that there is black mold on the skull, and he finds that strange. On the base of the right lamppost is a Bottle with a brush. Take the Bottle.

 It is a bottle with an industrial cleaning agent that Gregory used to clean the facade of the castle. Construction worker Steve sits on the left near the concrete mixer. Go talk to Steve. Steve thinks the castle is bewitched and doesn't want to work here anymore. Steve quits his job and disappears. Enter the castle through the front door.

In the main hall Adrian naturally speaks to Spooner who, as always, acts rather unpleasantly. Adrian becomes angry and when Adrian becomes angry he comes under the influence of Mordred Gordon's curse. Adrian/Mordred can't stand Spooner's nagging and taunting anymore and he throws Spooner out of his castle. After all, Adrian is now a Lord and a measly little inspector should show some respect for that. Adrian then asks himself what to do with the story about the Menhir, which he read on the back of the Papal Letter. But then the front doorbell rings and Adrian rushes outside to see who rang the bell.

However, there is no one to be seen at the front door, so head towards the castle gates. No one is visible at the gates either. 

Click on the Letter box and.....Adrian finds a Letter from Murray in his mailbox. Murray sends Adrain a bill for £100 a day for his hotel room until Adrian returns the key. So far, Adrian is said to be indebted to Murray for £500. Adrian gets pissed off again........the steam comes out of his ears. Open the map and travel to the hotel

Hotel:

Go inside to return the hotel key to Murray. A "conversation" with Murray will automatically follow. During the conversation with Murray, Adrian falls again under the influence of Mordred's curse, which causes him to no longer be himself. As Mordred, Adrian is a rather unpleasant person, as Murray is shocked to discover. Adrian automatically returns the key to his hotel room to Murray. Outside, Adrian/Mordred continues to cancer for a while and then Adrian comes back to top himself.

There is now a separate part of the castle on the map.

You can now go directly back to the entrance gates, the central hall of the castle and the record greenhouse via this separate part of the map.

Travel back to the Castle Gate

Black Mirror Castle:

The Menhirs puzzle:

Here at the entrance gates of the castle is a stone Menhir. That Menhir on the left of the large gate against the stone wall. Look at that Menhir. Adrian notes that the Menhir should point to the "entrance" of the "Shadow Gate", but how and where? Adrian must find out where the Shadow Gate is via the Menhirs. Now physically take the Walking map from inventory and click with it on the Menhir and.......

Adrian notes the location of this Menhir on a piece of paper and then sticks that piece of paper on the map. Go back through the small gate. Adrian is then back on the screen where you see the entire facade of the castle. Do not walk to the front door yet, but stay on this screen. At the bottom left of the screen, directly opposite the front door, is the 2nd Menhir. Take the map from inventory again and click with it on this 2nd Menhir. 

Adrian also notes the location of this Menhir on the piece of paper with a cross. Now walk to the front door. To the left of the front door is the bench where Steve was whining. Steve's larger hammer drill is leaning against that bench and there is a jerry can. Look at the Hammer Drill. The thing is big and heavy and the drill's gas tank is empty. Take the Jerrycan (Cannister).

 

The Jerrycan is empty, but Adrian takes the Jerrycan anyway. Enter the castle through the front door and then to the kitchen and exit through the back door from the kitchen. Adrian is back in the backyard. Menhir 3 is located near the dry tree. Click with the map on Menhir 3 and Adrian also marks the position of Menhir 3 on the piece of paper he has pasted on the map. Menhir 4 is on the left, in front of the left corner of the castle. So click with the map on Menhir 4 to also mark the position of this Menhir on the map paper.

Greenhouse:

Go to the Greenhouse. Go inside. In the corner, behind the still open hatch of the old well, there is a statue that represents the White Lady. View the statue. Adrian doubts this is the White Lady and the image is quite dirty. Take the Bottle of Industrial cleaner and brush from inventory and click with it on the statue to clean the statue. The statue then turns out to be not made of marble but of stone... it's a goddamn Menhir in disguise. So take the map from inventory again and click on the statue and...........

 Adrian also marks this 5th Menhir on the piece of paper. Adrian has now found 5 Menhirs, but he is still missing the 6th Menhir. The 6th Menhir once stood in the hall of the castle, but it is no longer there. Where has the 6th Menhir gone? Now open the map with your "M key" to make the map large on your screen. Move your cursor over the piece of paper on which Adrian places the positions of the 5 Menhirs has ticked. You will then receive the Exit cursor at every location where there is a Menhir. Click on the piece of paper on the "Castle Hall" to return to the main hall of the castle in one go.

Take the map out of inventory again and click it on the pedestal on which the Globe stands (Foundation stone) and......

Adrian then tells you that the 6th Menhir once stood here and that the castle was built around this Menhir centuries ago. So Adrian also marks the location of the 6th Menhir on the piece of paper. Now the locations of all 6 Menhirs are on the piece of paper. Now Adrian has to connect those 6 Menhir locations on the piece of paper with lines.

Find the locations of all 6 Portals

 In inventory combine the Pencil with the Map and...... The map will appear large on your screen, with the piece of paper stuck to it. Your cursor is now the pencil. On the piece of paper you see the sketch of the castle with the 6 crosses that indicate the locations of the 6 Menhirs. Number the crosses 1 to 6. 

Then, with your pencil cursor, connect the 6 crosses with an outline line.

Adrian then notes that the drawing then looks exactly like the drawing of the star constellation that he saw under hypnosis. Now, from cross 2 and through cross 1, draw the top line with your pencil all the way to Warmhill Church and let then loose the pencil on the church. Adrian reports that he has to ask Pastor Fredericks if there is anything from the Gordon's in the church.

 Now also draw a straight line, again from cross 2 and through cross 5, to Murray's Hotel. Adrian thinks there must be a Portal near the hotel. Finally, draw a line, again from cross 2 and through cross 4, to the Academy. Adrian reports that the Academy has completely collapsed, but he still wants to go and have a look.

Adrian must go to these places to mark the locations of the portals on the map with a cross. Find the Exit on the left to store the map again. Adrian reports that he wants to investigate the ruins of the Academy. But first go to the Warmhill Church via the map and enter the church. Father Fredericks is back at the back of the church at his altar. Go talk to the pastor and ask him about anything and everything, but especially about Antolini and the Letter from the Vatican. Finally you get the Portal topic. Use the Portal topic and........

Sister Antonili was sent by the diaconate to Lady Victoria. The good Pastor did not know Antonili personally. Through the letter and the portal subject, the pastor tells you that, as you already knew, Marcus Gordon's grave has collapsed, so if there was already a Portal here at the church, it is no longer accessible. Nevertheless, Adrian marks the church on the map as a place where a Portal should be.

NB: You must have talked to Fredericks in the church about the Portals, otherwise Adrian will not mark the church as a possible location of a portal on the map and you will soon be hopelessly get stuck in the game. If the church is not marked as the location of a portal, you will not be able to take the forest path to the swamp

After this conversation you can go to the ruins of the Academy. If you have been to the Lighthouse before, you can now go straight to the lighthouse via the map. However, if you have not yet been to the Lighthouse, it is not yet available on the map. You first have to go to the gate of the Castle and then, at the bottom left, into the forest. Then follow the forest road down 1 screen, until the junction with the path you took earlier to reach the dilapidated house of Dr. Heinz Hermann to come. Then follow that path further to the lighthouse.

Lighthouse and Academy

There is a dead tree to the right of the lighthouse ruins.

 Move your cursor up along the dead tree. In the crown of the tree you will then get the Exit to the Academy (Ruins). 

Click that Exit and Adrian ends up at the academy.

Adrian reports that this was once the gate that Lady Victoria mentioned, and he now marks this Academy ruin on the map

.Also take a look around here and then travel via the map to Dr. Hermann. On the map it is the "Tumbledown building".

House of Dr. Hermann:

The front door is open so go inside and walk to the basement. The cellar door is open so someone must have been there since Adrian escaped from the house.....Adrian is terrified because Phil has now been murdered and his body lies on the operating table. Examine the corpse.

Go back outside. Phil's car is in front of the house. The gas tank cap is located above the left rear wheel of the car. Examine the gas tank cap. Adrian thinks there is still gas in the tank. Take the green garden hose from inventory and click it on the gas tank cap of the car and Adrian then automatically fills the empty jerry can with gasoline from the car.

Now travel, via the map, back to the castle gate (Castle gate). Enter through the small gate and walk to the front door.

 So to the left of the front door, Stevie's large hammer drill is leaning against the bench.

 Look at the Drill again with your eye.

Adrian now automatically fills the drill with gasoline from the Jerrycan ansd then he put the hamer drill in inventory. Travel via the map back  to Warmhill Church. Adrian arrives again in front of the church. Go to the Rectory, so turn left into the graveyard and then through the gate at the back to the Rectory. The gravedigger is still hammering away his anger on the shed. Near the stone wall to the right ilies an old door covering a pile of firewood. 

Click with your eye on that old door and then with the hand cursor  and. Adrian takes the round glass window from the door. Travel, via the map, to: Willow Creek. From Warmhill, Adrian always ends up at Winterbottom's house. Constable Zak's bicycle is still in front of the Winterbottom house. Click on the bicycle with your eye cursor and then click on it with your hand cursor to swipe the bag with repair supplies from the bicycle.

 On the corner, to the right of Winterbottom, is the Museum of Willow Creek. You can now enter the museum to have a look around. You can't do this now either. If you do go to the museum, you will experience that Murray now owns the museum. Murray "turned" the museum into a "murder house" following the Gordon murders. Stutterer Bobby, the brother of café owner Tom, has been fired by Murray. Instead of Bobby, there is now a Security Guard behind the counter. Take a look around the museum. Adrian thinks it's all tasteless. Walk, or use the map, to go to the:

Hotel / River

If you have not yet returned the room key to Murray, please do so now. There is a fountain in front of the hotel. View the fountain. You should, if all goes well, have an empty plastic bottle in inventory. Take the empty Plastic Bottle from inventory and click it on the fountain to fill the bottle with water. However, it is not drinking water.

To the right of the hotel you will see a stone wall with a passage (Path). Click with your exit cursor in the passage of the stone wall and Adrian ends up at the River. Adrian ends up at a jetty that goes into the river. In the middle of the river are 4 Menhirs, which Adrian would like to see up close, but then he has to enter the river. Bobby is "taking a dip" in the river. Click on Bobby with your eye and Adrian asks him what the hell he's doing. Bobby is wearing so-called "waders" and is looking for oysters in the river. Bobby hopes to find pearl oysters to make a pearl necklace for his girlfriend Denise. Today is Denise's birthday .Use the "Valuable necklace" topic and.......

Adrian offers Bobby the valuable necklace in exchange for his "waders". Bobby agrees and comes out of the river and puts on his "waders" and hangs them over the bench. Bobby disappears to give Denise a nice cuddle...at least...I hope so for him because the poor boy may t have some fun too.

Take the Waders. Adrian reports that there is a large hole in the pants, so he does not put them on yet. In inventory combine the Bicycle Repair Kit with the Waders  to repair the hole in the waders. Behind the scaffolding is a notice board on which 2 notices have been pasted. Check out those 2 notices. The message on the left is a "No swimming" ban. The other message is a Missing Poster that says that 2 boys drowned in the river. Look with your eye at the 2 left Menhirs in the river. Adrian reports that those 4 Menhirs may point to a Portal. Right-click in inventory on the repaired waders and.....Adrian walks out of view for a moment to put on the waders. Click again with your eye on the front of the 2 left Menhirs and...... Adrian walks into the river and then stands in the middle of the 4 Menhirs. Behind the 2 left Menhirs, some driftwood (Flotsam) floats.

Look at that driftwood with your eye. Adrian then has a vision of a corpse in the river with a raven plucking out its eyes.

Adrian is now standing in the middle of the 4 Menhirs and that place has a "Dark place". Adrian would like to look underwater but the water is too dark. Adrian needs a "looking glass" to look at the bottom underwater. Adrian has a bucket , with a hole in the bottom, and the round door glass from the old door. Combine in inventory that Circular piece of glass with the Bucket and ..... the round glass fits exactly in the bucket hole and through the glass Adrian can watch. So take the Bucket from inventory and click with it on the water (Dark place) near Adrian and......

Adrian sees a stone staircase leading down underwater, but the entrance has collapsed and the Gate is therefore blocked. 

Adrian has no luck at this third portal either. Adrian makes another note in his diary. 

You now must draw a couple of new lines on the map with the pencil. You can do this while Adrian is standing in the river or you can walk back to the hotel first. When you first walk back to the hotel, Adrian takes off the waders and hangs them back on the wooden bench. Now , in inventory, click again with the pencil on the map  to open the map so that you can draw on it with the pencil again.

Now draw a line with your pencil, from cross 2, the Hall of the castle, through cross 3 (green house) to the white area (swamp) with the red lines in it and then release the pencil in that area. Listen to what Adrian says.  Then, from cross 2, draw a line through cross 6 (gate), a straight line to the White forest, bottom left on the map, and let go of the pencil.

Swamp:

Put the map and pencil back away. While Adrian is standing in the river, you cannot open the map via your "M-t oets", so first go back to the hotel, via the bottom left. Adrian leaves the waders and the bucket at the river. Back in front of the hotel, open the map via your "M key" and travel back to the lighthouse. At from the lighthouse you immediately walk back, via the bottom left, onto the forest path. Adrian is then back in the forest at the wooden fence behind which the Hermann house is located. At the top of this screen you now see, on the left between the trees, a narrow beaten track.

Look at that beaten track path to get the Exit cursor on it. Then click on that path with the Exit cursor and....

NB: If you did not talk to Father Frederick about the portals in the church earlier, then Adrian did not mark the church as a possible location for a portal and  then you cannot now follow this forest path to the swamp. You will first have to talk to Father Frederick about the portals so that Adrian will mark the church with a cross on the map. Only then will the forest path become available if you have also marked all other locations on the map with a cross

Adrian follows the forest path and ends up in a boggy swamp. Adrian examines the ground but finds no Gate. Adrian concludes that if there ever was a Gate here, it must have sunk deep into the marshy ground by now. Adrian needs something to search the bottom and luckily he doesn't have to look far because there is a metal detector in the grass near Adrian. Grab the Metal Detector. 

Right click in inventory on the Metal Detector. You find out that the thing has no battery and needs some repair work.

Open the map and travel back to Dr.'s house. Hermann via the Tumbledown Building

 

Go inside. In the hall you walk through to the large pile of junk, which is located to the left of the large display cabinet.

There is a transistor radio on a box in front of the broken TV. Look at the Transistor radio (Electrical junk) with your eye.

Adrian thinks he can use the radio and so he puts the thing in inventory. Leave the house again through the front door.  Look at tthe hood of Phil's car with your eye. The hood is locked. Take Phil's key ring from inventory outside and click with them on the car. Adrian opens the hood of the car and also takes out a "light sticker" the car. You now have 3 of those "light stickers" in inventory.

So the hood is now open. Click your gears under the open hood and Adrian will remove the battery from the car. 

In inventory combine the Metal Detector with the Car battery and then the whole thing with the Transistor Radio

Adrian then has a well-functioning Metal Detector. Travel via the map to the "Crossing in the Wood".

Forest path

Adrian then ends up in the forest at the intersection of forest paths.

Adrian comes from the right path. To the left of the paved forest road there is also a forest path into the forest. 

Previously you could not enter that left forest path, but now you can, so click with the exit cursor on the left forest path and....

Adrian can now follow the left path, so click on that path with your Exit cursor and Adrian will end up at a bend in the forest path:

On the right is a thick tree with 3 warning signs nailed to it. On the left is a thin tree full of skins. In the bend of the path lies a Bear trap. The path continues behind the thin tree. Look at the 3 warning signs on the thick tree. The signs warn that the hunting season is open and that hunters are hunting in the forest. Look at the Bear trap. If you try to get Adrian to continue along the path, he will refuse. There is a thin branch on the ground in front of the thick tree. The branch is almost invisible, so use your space bar to make all the "hotspots" visible. Pick up the Branch to store it in your inventory. So there is a metal bear trap here, in the bend of the path. Let's see if the Metal Detector can find that metal hogweed. Take the Metal Detector from inventory and click on the Hogweed and......Adrian tests out the Metal Detector and the thing finds the Hogweed and starts beeping.

Now click again with the exit cursor on the path, behind the thin tree, and....... 

Clearing in the forest:

.......now Adrian wants to continue into the forest, but first he marks the hogweed with one of his "light stickers". Adrian then arrives at a clearing in the forest.  In the middle is a large thick rock. Behind the thick rock are 2 Menhirs and on the right is a 3rd Menhir near the right tree. That thick rock that lies flat in the middle is actually the 4th Menhir. Look at that thick rock, which lies flat in the middle, twice with your eye. Adrian wonders if there is an entrance to one of the Gates of Hell under that rock. Look at  the 2 Menhirs that stand behind the flat rock. Take the Hamer drill from inventory and click with it on the flat boulder and...

 Adrian drills a lot of holes in the boulder... this takes a while and while Adrian drills and drills the game does a Loading. When Adrian has finished drilling, it is now evening. Adrian has drilled 24 holes in the rock, but the rock did not break into pieces, as Adrian had secretly hoped. Take the filled plastic bottle, which you filled at the hotel with water from the fountain, from inventory and click with it on the holes in the rock.

Adrian reports that it will freeze tonight and so the water in the holes will also freeze and the pressure of the expanding ice in the holes will then break the rock in two. So Adrian fills the holes with water, but he must then close the holes with something to prevent the ice from coming out of the hole. So take the Can of construction foam from inventory and then click on the holes to cover the holes with Pur foam. You can also use the Branch that you just picked up from the big tree for this. Travel back to the Castle gate of Black Mirror Castle via the map. Bobby sits on the ground in front of the large gate. Check out Bobby and then talk to him.

Bobby is sad. Bobby was beaten by his brother Tom, who also kicked him out of the house. Spooner and Denise don't want to listen to Bobby and he doesn't want to sleep in the castle either. Adrian gets excited again and becomes Mordred again and he decides to pay Tom a visit. Adrian then goes to the pub. Spooner, Denise and Tom are discussing with each other in front of the pub. Tom is drunk as hell. Denise is wearing the necklace that Adrian gave to Bobby. Adrian is now Mordred and he makes it clear to Tom that he must keep his fingers off Bobby.

Tom freaks out and rams Adrian unconscious. We then end up in:
