Chapter 4:
Adrian lies on Winterbottom's couch again and, under hypnosis, has another vision from his childhood. In the vision, Adrian now follows his sister Angelina into the hole into which Angelina has fallen. Adrian then finds his sister in a large room with a mirror. Angelina and Adrian stare in the mirror and....
In the mirror, little Adrian sees himself as he is.....but he sees his sister in the mirror as a mean older woman. Adrian comes out of hypnosis because Winterbottom's phone starts ringing. It is Spooner who asks if Adrian can come to the diner. Winterbottom advises Adrian to find a new butler for the castle.
Leave Winterbottom and walk across the bridge to the square and enter the cafe.
When Adrian wants to enter the café, Denise is just coming out.
In the cafe, Spooner sits on one of the benches near the pantry door. Go talk to Spooner. The conversation happens automatically.
The incident with Tom has now made Spooner have doubts.
Tom is missing and Spooner wants to know who the hell this Phil is, who Tom also believes was murdered by Adrian.
Adrian takes Spooner to Dr.'s house. Hermann
House Dr. Hermann:
Adrian had left the front door of the house open, but the door is now closed and locked.
Because the house is locked, Inspector Spooner is not allowed to enter without a search warrant.
Take Phil's keys from inventory and click on the front door to open the front door and...
Spooner now goes inside, but confiscates the keys. In the hall, Adrian finds out that someone has been in and obscured evidence.
The videos have been stolen, only Bobby's film is still in the VCR
Spooner takes the Bobby film with him as proof. Spooner then asks where the body is.
So go to the basement and......well...that was to be expected...Phil's body has also disappeared. Adrian tries to convince Spooner that Tom removed the body, but Spooner doesn't believe it. But wait a minute.....there was a dead body in the body drawer too, right? Look again with your eye at the corpse in the Chilled compartment with corpse.
Adrian shows Spooner the corpse and.....Finally Spooner starts to believe Adrian because this corpse was already a corpse when Adrian was still in the cell of the police station. Spooner then asks Adrian to go back to the police station to put his statement on paper. Spooner and Adrian leave the basement and........Tom enters through the front door. As soon as Tom sees the inspector and Adrian, he runs away and Spooner, with his gun drawn, chases after Tom. Fortunately, Spooner is gone, so Adrian can now return to the forest to see whether the flat Menhir is indeed broken.
Open the map and click in the black circle (Stone circle in woods) to return to the Menhirs in the forest:
The ice in the holes has done its work.....the large flat Menhir has been broken into 2 pieces. In the middle of the debris is a hole with a staircase in the ground.
Look at he flat rock again with your eye cursor and.....Adrian descends into the hole and ends up deep underground in a large cave. A deep gorge cuts the cave in half and on the other side of the gorge Adrian sees the Gate. A light rises from the gorge, providing some light in the cave. Adrian cannot cross the chasm.
Click on every hotspot everything you with your eye. The gorge is about 4 meters wide and a few hundred meters deep.
Adrian cannot cross the gorge without tools, so open the map and travel back to the Hall of the Black Mirror Castle
Back in the hall of the castle, you go through the kitchen to the backyard. There are 2 balconies on the rear facade of the castle.
There is a ladder against the facade under the left balcony. Take the Ladder and.....
Adrian will then automatically be back in the cave and Adrian will then automatically place the ladder, like a bridge, over the gorge. Click with your cursor on the ground, in front of the Portal, and ..... Adrian walk over the ladder to the Gate. To the left in front of the Gate is a narrow post with a Holder on it. To the left of the Holder there is a Stone Tablet in the wall. Examine the Holder and examine the Stone Tablet.
Adrian recognizes the holder because in Black Mirror 2 Angeline, in the academy, placed a Black Stone Sphere in exactly such a holder, which then opened the Gate. That black sphere will probably still be in the academy. The Stone Tablet contains hieroglyphs, which Adrian doesn't understand. Take the Polaroid Camera from inventory and click it on the stone tablet to take a photo of it. The photo is immediately developed and stored in inventory. If you right-click on the photo, it will appear large on your screen.
Open the map and travel back to Willow Creek. Knock on Dr. Winterbottom front door. Adrian can come in.
Talk to Winterbottom and ask her about the Black stone sphere and the Hieroglyphs. Adrian shows Winterbottom the hieroglyphic photo and Winterbottom then gives him a book on hieroglyphics that she bought in Egypt. In inventory combine the Hieroglyph photo with the Hieroglyph book. Adrian then compares the hieroglyphics in the photo with the hieroglyphics in the book. There are similarities, but also differences. The hieroglyphs on the Stone Tablet are therefore not centuries old. A word of thanks is written on the last page of the book. The word of thanks was written by Edward, the café's waiter. Leave Winterbottom and return to the scuare and then enter the Cafe again. In the Café, talk to Edward, who is behind the counter.
Ask Edward about the Museum, the Hieroglyphs and the Black Ball and use any other follow-up topics .Edward recognizes the Hieroglyphs in the photo as ancient Druid signs. The Hieroglyphs probably depict a burial of a Druid priest. Edward tells that these Druid priests were buried in hill graves. There must be such a hill grave nearby because Miss Valley visited that grave with a group of students a while ago.
When the conversation ends, Edward tells that he spoke to Dr Winterbottom. Winterbottom has told Edward that Adrian is looking for a new butler and Edward is interested in that. Denise's father wants to close the cafe, so Edward is looking for a new job. As a butler, Edward can not only take care of the castle, but also hire workers for the renovation. Adrian agrees with Edward to visit the castle the next morning.
Leave the Café and enter the police station. Talk to Spooner and use all the talking points you get.
When you ask about Miss Valley, Spooner sends Constable Zak out of the house because he now wants to talk to Adrian in person. Use all topics.....Most importantly, Spooner says that the police only took photos at Miss Valley's house. Adrian would like to take a look at Miss Valley's house and Spooner allows him to do so on the condition that Constable Zak comes along. Constable Zak has now returned, so talk to Zak and use all conversation options here too and.Adrian and Zak then go to the:
Home of Miss Valley:
You can see a lot of things in Miss Valley's living room, but Adrian is here because of what Edward told him about a burial mound that Miss Valley is said to have visited. On the left is a large bookcase (Bookcase) with drawers and 2 glass doors. Click with the hand cursor on the bookcase and Adrian opens the glass doors and then browses through Miss Valley's book collection. In the bookcase Adrian finds Miss Valley seminar work and heasks Zak if he can have it. Adrian finds nothing else of interest in the bookcase. Right-click in inventory on Miss Valley seminar work to read it. The book will then appear large on your screen and your cursor will be the pencil again. Read the text on the 2 pages.....
Miss Valley writes that she has found a grave in a hill, containing the 12 skeletons of, probably, men. Some of the skeletons had no skulls and Miss Valley assumes this is because the heads were ritually removed. Miss Valley found a gold bull statue and two gold tablets with hieroglyphs in the grave. Miss Valley does not reveal the location of the grave in her thesis, because she wants to keep it secret, but she did take a soil sample from the swamp and found bones of small animals.
Click the book away again. Adrian then says that there must be clues somewhere in the text of the book that can help him find the location of the burrial site. Adrian reports that he has to underline 3 important words in the text. Right-click on the Miss Valley seminar work book again to put that book close-up on your screen again. Your cursor is the pencil. You are now supposed to underline 3 words in the text. These are 3 words that help Adrian find the Grave in the Hill. You click with the pencil on a word to underline it with a wavy line. If you underline a wrong word, you can erase the line clicking on the word again. You can also solve the puzzle automatically again by clicking the Auto-solve lever, which will appear again in the bottom right after a few minutes.
NB: Adrian should comment briefly on each of the 3 words you need to underline. But it may be that Adrian doesn't not comment when you underline the 3 words. That is an error in the game and therefore the game will not accept the solution. This happened in my game. The only solution to this is to then use the Auto-Solve lever to have this word puzzle solved automatically.
On the left page, click on "sector 13" to underline this.On the right page click on "various" and on the last word "marsh land" and.....
The book goes away and Adrian now knows that he has to look for the hill grave in the swamp. Adrian has already been to the swamp, because Sector 13 is the place where he found the metal detector. Bottom left is the stairs to the 1 floor. There is a writing desk against the stairs and a note pad is on the floor in front of the writing desk. Take the note pad.
Adrian reports that there is nothing written in the note pad and he tears out a blank page. Right-click in inventory on that bare sheet of paper that Adrian has just torn from the notebook. Adrian now reports that there is a faint print on the sheet. It is a copy of the previous page. Adrian puts the sheet of paper back in inventory. In inventory combine the pencil with the sheet of paper in inventory and.....Adrian scratches the sheet with the pencil to make the imprint visible. Right click on the sheet again (Miss Valley's reply) and.......Adrian now reads what Valley has written
Miss Valley has decreed that, in case something goes wrong, the Order must be dissolved and that all evidence that an Order ever existed must be destroyed. Click away the paper. On the right is the large semi-circular fireplace. There are some lumps of charcoal on the stone ledge in the floor in front of the fireplace. Grab a piece of coal.
NB: You can also use the charcoal to make the impression on the notebook sheet visible. But if you have already done that with the pencil, you still have to grab the piece of charcoal because otherwise Adrian will keep moaning that he forgot to do something and he doesn't want to leave here. If you have also taken the piece of coal and Adrian still does not want to leave the house, this means that you have not solved the book puzzle correctly, either because you have underlined the wrong words or because the game does not accept your solution.
Go talk to Constable Zak, who will tell you to put Valley's thesis back on the shelf.
Adrian does that and then Zak and Adrian disappear outside.
Open the map and now travel to the Swamp (Marsh). That is the black circle at the top right of the map
Adrian is then back at the place where he found the Metal Detector earlier.
In the middle of the screen, approximately where the metal detector was located, there is now a tiny pile of stones.
Top left is a wooden bridge (Bridge). On the far right are white bones.
Look at the pile of Stones and then click on the stones with your hand cursor. Adrian fishes an envelope from between the stones. It's a Letter for Adrian Gordon. Right click in inventory on this "Letter to Adrian Gordon" to read the letter. It's another riddle and this one says that "the 2nd Virtue of the Keeper is Hope."
Click the note away. Look at the Wooden Bridge and the swamp, to the right of the bridge. Look at the bones on the right of the screen with your eye. They are the bones of animals that Miss Valley talked about in her thesis. On the right edge of the screen you will find the exit (Beaten track) to follow the path further one screen to the right. So click that Exit to go one screen further to the right and......Adrian has found the Grave in the Hill.
Adrian is now standing in front of the entrance to the Hill Grave (Burial mound). The opening is supported by 2 Menhir stones. There is a circle scratched on the left Menhir and in front of the left side of the entrance there is a pile of dry branches. Grab a handful of Branches from the pile of branches. Look at the circle on the left Menhir with your eye. Adrian thinks the circle is the symbol for a black ball. The ceiling stone of the entrance contains hieroglyphs, which you can also look atwith your eye. Then enter through the cave.
Press your spacebar to see all the "hotspots" and then look at all those "hotspots" with your eye. At one point Adrian wonders why he isn't getting a vision in here. Adrian thinks it's his medication. Adrian then comes up with the plan to stop taking his medication. Travel back via the map to Willow Creek and visit Winterbottom again.
Talk to Winterbottom and use the Medicines topic. Adrian tells Winterbottom that the drugs are bothering him. Winterbottom says that Adrian should not use coffee, valerian or antacids, which contain magnesium, because these are substances that affect the effect of the medicines. Leave Winterbottom again and go to the Café. Talk to Edward in the café and ask him for a bag of coffee. Leave the Café and enter the shop, between the Café and the police station. Talk to Abaya in the store and ask her for Heartburn and then for Valerian. Abaya advises Adrian to take an antacid without magnesium, but Adrian does not want that and ultimately he is given the desired drug that contains magnesium (Antacid). Abaya doesn't have Valerian and Adrian takes too long to order it. Travel, via the map, to the Greenhouse of the castle Enter the greenhouse again. On the left you see 3 of the large windows of the greenhouse.In front of the middle window is a small round container in which a plant grows .Click on that planter with your hand cursor.
Adrian reports that it is a Valerian plant and he picks some of the Valerian leaves to store them in inventory. Leave the greenhouse and walk one screen to the left and then enter the kitchen through the back door. The stove is in the corner and there is a (Pot on the stove. You have already looked at that pan but were unable to grab it. That is now possible.So take the Pot and Adrian automatically fills the pan with water from the tap.
Continue to the large Hall. Behind the globe on the right is a large roll of foil.
You have also looked at this foil before, but you could not grab it then, Now it is, so grab the Damp-proof sheeting
Travel back to the swamp and then walk another screen to the right, to the Grave hill. Don't go back inside right away. If you have not yet grabbed a handful of branches from the pile of branches, do so now.Take theDamp-proof sheeting from inventory and click it in the entrance to seal the entrance with foil. Then go inside.
Inside, make sure Adrian is more or less in the middle. There are some Stones on the ground to the left of Adrian.
Click on the stones with your gear cursor
Adrian picks up some boulders and places them back on the ground in the center of the cave, like a fireplace.
Take the branches from inventory and click them on the Fireplace to place the branches between the boulders.
Take the Lighter from inventory and light the branches with it.
Place the pot with water on the fire
Put the Coffee and then the Magnesium Powder (Antacid) in the pot.
Finally, place the Valerian leaves in the pot by clicking the leaves on the Fireplace
If you click the valirian leaves on the pot, Adrian does not put the plant in the pan
Wait until Adrian has finished talking and then click with your gear cursor on the enormous smoking Pot
Adrian drinks the brew and promptly has a vision in which he sees where the black ball is hidden.
Adrian faints again but quickly comes to his senses
. On the left of the entrance there is a spot black with mold (Black mould). Look at that black mold spot with your eye
Adrian finds the black sphere. Adrian automatically takes the black sphere.
Open the map and travel back to the Stone Gate in the woods
Descend again, through the hole in the ground. Back at the bottom of the cave, click on the large closed gate to have Adrian walk over the ladder to the gate. Then take the Black Sphere from inventory and place the ball in the Holder, which is on the left in front of the Gate, and.......The Gate will glow. Look at the glowing Gate with your eye. Adrian then reports that the Gate is open.
So click with your Exit Cursor in the glowing Gate and......Adrian steps through the gate and ends up in:
Academy:
Gate Hall:
Adrian was here at the end of Black Mirror 2. The Gate closes again behind Adrian. Louis's corpse is still lying near the 2 right pillars on one of the pressure plates. Also on this side there is a black sphere Holder in front of the Gate. Look at the Holder with your eye and Adrian will notice that the Black Ball, which was still in the holder in Black Mirror 2, has disappeared. It is hoped that Adrian can find the black ball here, otherwise he will be stuck here for the rest of his life. Look at the Louis corpse. Adrian muses for a moment about Angelina and the events from Black Mirror 2. Then click with the gears on the Louis corpse and....... Adrian will find a letter from Angelina on the corpse.
It is a letter from Angelina to Louis and Adrian reads the letter automatically. The letter shows that Angelina killed Miss Valley and also that she ordered Louis to kill him and to set the Black Mirror castle on fire. Click the letter away. There is a pile of boulders in the bottom center of the screen. They are the remains of the stairs (Burried staircase). Look at those boulders (Burried staircase) twice with your eye cursor.Adrain then sees that there is a piece of black material sticking out between the boulders. Look at the boulders again with your eye cursor. Adrian then tries to pull the black piece of cloth out from under the heavy boulder, but that doesn't work.
To the right and the left of the large boulder is a Gap.
Look at the right gap with your eye. Adrian then looks into that gapbut he can't see anything because the crack is too dark.
Take the photo camera from inventory and click with it on the right gap.
Adrian pushes the camera into the dark crack and takes a photo. In the photo Adrian sees that the black ball is in the crack. But how can he get the ball out of the crevice? There is nothing to find that will help Adrian get the black ball out of the crack. It's a gruesome job f, but it is the only option..... Click again on the Louis corpse with the gear cursor and...... Adrian kicks an arm loose from the corpse and picks up the arm. Take the Arm from inventory and click with it in the right gap and Adrian pushes the ball in the gap, with his arm, closer to the left gap
Now, on the left side of the large boulder, locate the hand cursor on the left Gap and then click and.......
... Adrian now takes the black ball from the crack under the large rock.
Walk to the Gate. take the Black ball from inventory and place the ball in the holder and, when the Gate glows again,
walk back through the Gate and........
Adrian is back in the Ritual Room. The Book is still on the pillar in the middle.
On the left is the Throne of Mordred. Click on the Book with your hand and.........
.Adrian hears voices and then faints again. This really seems to be Adrian's favorite activity.....Fainting.......A black shadow appears for a moment on the throne. Adrian comes to and stands up. Click on the book with your hand again......Adrian changes into Modred.
Adrian now comes completely under Mordred's influence. In fact, Adrian is now Mordred and he now picks up the book. Mordred goes to work and then he puts the black ball in the holder and goes through the Gate. So Mordred ends up in the Cave in the Forest. Mordred climbs out of the cave and 2 bloodhounds follow him into the forest, on the way to Black Mirror Castle. The White Lady, the tormented spirit of Mary, then appears in the forest. Maria asks Mordred where their son, Damien, is.
Mordred replies that Damien was weak and so had to be killed,Maria screams Murderer and disappears again and... well... what else...
Adrian/Mordred faints again... We then end up in:
Chapter 5:
Adrian vs Mordred:
Adrian/Mordred slowly wakes up and stands up and looks at himself in the mirror.
Adrian is shocked by what he sees......He is still a bit Mordred, Adrian is in a previously closed bedroom of the castle.
In the corner, next to the four-poster bed, is a large closet. Open the closet.
In the closet, Adrian sees photos of his father and mother, Samuel and Cathrin Gordon. So this room was Adrian's parents' bedroom. Adrian also sees a pair of pliers and a grave candle in the cupboard, but he does not need the pliers and the grave candle now, so Adrian closes the closet again. However, remember that you can find a Pliers and a Grave Candle in this cupboard. There is a desk and a chair by the window. There are some shards of glass on the floor just in front of the chair. Look at the shards of glass with your eye. On the desk is the Mordred Book and a Note. Pick up the Note.
This is another note from the great unknown and this time he reports "that the greatest virtue of the Keeper is Faith in God". Click the note away and.....Adrian wonders who is sending him these notes....Is it himself....or is it Mordred? Look at the Window with your eye and......Adrian reports that there is a rope hanging in front of the window and he then takes the rope and puts it in inventory.
Look with your eye at the Mordred Book, which is on the front of the desk, and...... the pages in the book are empty......
Adrian panics and his voice becomes Mordred again. Adrian quickly swallows one of his pills to calm down. Then Adrian realizes that when he dropped a drop of his Gordon blood on the book in Black Mirror 2 in the ritual room, the texts in the book became visible. Of course he can try that trick again now. Now you can pick up a shard of glass from the floor, so click with your hand on the Shards of Glass and..........
Adrian picks up a shard and cuts his wrist with it. Adrian's blood then drips onto the Mordred book and...... after a few seconds some text indeed becomes visible in the book. Monr it's not what Adrian was hoping to see......it's just Mordred's incantation. Adrian sits on the bed feeling sad and then decides to do what his father Samuel Gordon did at the end of Black Mirror 1... throw himself off the castle tower.
So Adrian climbs the left castle tower and is then about to fall to his death.......... CNN, ABC, Fox TV and the BBC are live with helicopters to watch Adrian's suicide live. Millions of viewers are glued to their TV and scream.....JUMP....JUMP....JUMP....But then.....Gosh, what a shame.... leave it to one woman to ruin the fun of millions of people..... Sister Valentina Antolini screams from downstairs that she can help Adrian fight Mordred's curse.
Adrian calms down and, for the time being, refrains from committing suicide and comes down the normal way.
Valentina then stands in front of the closed front door. Adrian cannot be seen because he is inside. So the conversation goes through the closed front door. Valentina now has to convince Adrian that she can really help him. Use the Valentina option and listen to Valentina and Adrian will then open the door to continue talking to Valentina "face to face". During the conversation, Valentina gives the "Book of the Keepers of the Mirror" to Adrian, which she had taken from the castle library.
Valentina explains that she works for the Vatican and that the Archbishop has sent her to the castle to see how things are going. When Valentina arrived she discovered that Lady Victoria was dying and stayed to care for her. Valentina did not yet know about Adrian's existence and that he is now the last Gordon. Valentina further explains that Mordred Gordon wanted to anchor his soul in the Black Mirror and that the mirror is located deep under the castle in the catacombs. However, during the ritual, Mordred was interrupted by his brother Marcus and placed the curse on Marcus and all his descendants.
That is why Marcus' descendants are doomed to become souls for this "Black Mirror", or to be the "Keeper of the Mirror". Adrian is now the last Gordon, in the Marcus line, and thus he is the last "Keeper of the Mirror". Valentina eventually convinces Adrian that, besides suicide, there is another way to get rid of Mordred, namely......Exorcism.....so Exorcising the Devil......Adrian and Valentina go to Warmhill Church
Valentina and Adrian enter the church through the side door. Continue talking to Father Fredericks at the church about Exorcism
Fredericks agrees to perform the exorcism ritual, although he has never done so. However, the pastor needs an object that once belonged to Mordred. It must be an object of interest to Mordred...something that holds his mind in the "real" world. It would also be helpful if the pastor knew what sin Mordred has committed in his life.
Adrian is then outside again. Right-click in inventory on the "Book of the Guardians" to read it.
Adrian doesn't have time to read the entire book, he only reads the story about Maria, the White Lady. When Mordred and Marcus were fighting, Maria intervened and was stabbed to death by Mordred. So this is the mortal sin that Mordred has committed. Travel, via the map, to the castle gates Castle gate:
Black Mirror Castle:
At the castle gates, as agreed, Edward is waiting for Adrian to start his position as the castle's new butler.
Look at Edward and then talk to him and Adrian gives him his first assignment and that is to take the letter from Angelina, which he found in the Academy on Louis' corpse, to Spooner. Edward immediately disappears to carry out the assignment. Go, via the map or on foot, to the main hall of the castle and then up the stairs to the first floor. Click with the exit cursor in the passage and Adrian is back in his parents' bedroom. Now take the Mordred Book from the desk,
Travel back to Warmhill Church. Enter the church again through the side door and talk to Father Fredericks again.
Use the Modred book topiuc to give the book to Frederics and then use the White Lady topic and......
NB: You now only get the White Lady topic if you have previously read the Book of the Guardians. If you haven't done that, you won't get the White Lady topic now and Fredericks won't start the Exorcism ritual. If this is the case with you then walk outside and in inventory, right-click on the "Book of the Guardians" so that Adrian read the story about the White Lady. Then enter the church again and talk to Fredericks again and now you will get the White Lady topic, which you will then use and...... the Exorcism ritual will then start after all.
Adrian gives the pastor the Mordred Book and tells him that Mordred has murdered his wife Maria, who's the White Lady, and......the Exorcism ritual begins.......Valentina records the ritual with her dictaphone but....... the ritual goes completely wrong......Mordred does not wish to be exorcised and.......Pastor Fredericks dies in Valentina's arms. Of course Adrian didn't notice any of this because......Yes...Adrian was passed out again and. Valentina tries to wake Adrian up and we end up in:
