Chapter 2: Oakmarsh

Abigail has left Blackwood Manor to investigate the abandoned village of Oakmarsh where she has now arrived. 

There is an abandoned suitcase standing at the lamppost. You can view the suitcase but Abigail finds nothing of interest. Continue to the left and then enter the 1st house

The house of George Standford

Under the stairs is a chest of drawers and above that you see two doors of a wall cupboard in the wall

Open the right door of the wall cupboard ....... There is a book and a card "fuming" in the cupboard

Open the action menu and then click the action icon and ..... Abigail picks up the card .....

It is a ticket for the "Dunchurch Dance evening" on May 25, 1939 ..... Alexander wrote something down

Remember the name "Dunchurch". Click the card away ..... It is stored in the "Oakmarsh Codex", just like all other documents that you will find here in the village. Float up the stairs to the 1st floor. On the low table there are pages of a diary ..... Look at those pages

Abigail says there is a letter between the pages so click the action icon to read the letter. 

You read a letter from a brother to his sister. In the letter you read about the bombing by the Nazis on the city of Coventry during the 2nd World War. You also read about the "Crazy Elrias" and Annie of the Blackwood house, which the villagers of Oakmarsh are very concerned about.

Click the letter away ..... this letter is also stored in your "Oakmarsh Codex". 

Go up another floor ...... Abigail ends up in the attic of the house ...... On the round table is an Ouijabord board, with which spiritualists think they can "talk" with the spirits of deceased people.

Interact, via the eye icon and then with the action icon, with the Ouijabord ...... and ......

The board's arrow moves ..... He .... is there a ghost here in the attic and is that ghost trying to communicate with Abigail via the Ouijabord?

Yes ... the spirit moves the arrow over the board and points out the letters to tell Abigail something ....

Click away Abigail's comments and .....

The spirit refers Abigail to a box and then gives a hint about how Abigail can open that box:  "Ad astra" witch means  "To the stars"

But what does the spirit mean by this? Abigail thinks that if she knows the name of the spirit, and tells the spirit this through the Ouija board, then the spirit will want to give more information. Click the cross, at the top right, to leave the Ouija Board. Float to the left .... At the end of the attic there is a box ..... This is not the box that the Ouija Board spirit was talking about and Abigail does not find this box interesting either, so go back down here and .......... 

Abigail arrived in the bedroom on the 1st floor

Behind the bed stand a closet and on the table stand a box, and that's the box that the Ouija board spirit was talking about. 

Open the closet. In the closet is the Diary of George Standford, the former occupant of this house

Read the diary and also browse to the other pages via the white arrows ....Read everything accurately. You read about Abraham Blackwood and the Ouija Board

This diary is also stored in the "Oakmarsh Codex". Then go to the table and look at the ox ..... Abigail says that the chest is locked with a code lock.

 Zoom in on the chest via the action icon and ..... You see a sketch of a bird ...... the bird is a star constellation. 

In the lid of the box are 5 square buttons  .... On each of the 5 buttons you see a constellation

You have to press the buttons in the right order to open the box ..... But what is that order ...... The Ouijabord spirit gave Abigail a hint and that hint was "Ad astra .... To the stars "...... But what does the spirit mean by this? In his diary, George Standford tells how Professor Abraham Blackwood experimented with the Ouija Board and that Abraham carried out these experiments here in the house, especially at night.

Go out of the close-up of the box and then go back up to the attic.  In the attic you go right again, to the Ouija Board. Interact with the Ouija Board again via the action icon. Abigail must now indicate the name of the spirit with the arrow. Could it be ABRAHAM? Well .... there is only one way to find out .... Just try it out......

Pick up the arrow and drag the board to the letters and click the tip of the board on the letter you want to point out with the arrow. 

 If you point the tip of the arrow exactly on a letter then that letter gets "lit" ... 

Then pick up the arrow again and drag it to the next letter and make sure it lights up ......keep going until you have pointed out all the letters of ABRAHAM  and...... ABRAHAM appears to be the right name and .......The Spirit comes out of the board and then flies to the left and down ..... It is also possible that the spirit immediately flies down ....

Well......FOLLOW THE SPIRIT, so quickly go after the spirit and ...... The spirit brings Abigail into the basement. There is a Scale / Balance on the cupboard.

The Scale / Balance puzzle

The pointer of the scale is now on the left, at 0, because there is nothing on the scale ..... There are several items that Abigail can put on the scale and that is what she has to do. From left to right, these items are ....

  • A ball of rusty iron wire, a wooden box, a knife and a pencil .....

  •  on the box on the right you will find a spring ...... 

  • the spring lies on a book and...........

  • also on the box you will find an ink stamp, an aluminum cup and a candle ..... 

View all these items first through the eye icon because otherwise you can not take them "in possession"

Abigail now has to put some of the items on the scale, so that the pointer of the scale is not just below the arrow in the middle, but remains somewhat to the left of the arrow. All the items obviously have a different weight ... So the wooden box is much heavier than the spring or the candle ..... 

You take "Possession" of an item and float to the scale and then click your right mouse button to drop the item on the scale .Several solutions are possible but my solution is this ....

Place on the scale first the wooden box, then the ink stamp, then the knife and then the spring and . ..... 

 ..... the pointer of the scale remains slightly out of the middle and ..... 

A secret niche opens up in the wall ... A purple POWERBOL floats above the pillar ..... 

View the POWERBOL and read what Abigail has to say about it ..... Click the text screen and then take possession of the Powerbol.  The game tells you which special gift this purple powerbol adds to Abigail's gifts ...

Now go straight back up to the first floor and then fly into the bedroom on the left. Go back in the close-up of the constellation box...... 

The hint was "To the stars" ...... The box has 5 square buttons with constellations and these are: Pisces (Fish), Aquila (Arend), Canis Major (Big Dog), Serpens (Snake) and Delphinus (Dolphin) ...... You need to know in which order these 5 constellations are in the Zodiac ... If you do not know this then you can just look it up in an encyclopedia or on the internet via Wikipedia

Press the 5 buttons in this order: Pisces, Delphinus, Serpens, Canis Major, Aquila and ..... The box opens 

Zoom in on the now opened box via the action icon. There is a letter and an audio tape in the box. Take and read the letter first. 

The letter is from Alexander and addressed to Sally

Click the letter to store it in the Codex ..... Then take the Audio Tape ...... Abigail takes possession of the Audio Tape ... You go out of the box and ..... Abigail is now the Audiotape. Float, as the audio tape, to the right back to the hallway and then down via the stairs and then go, below the stairs, through the kitchen door to the kitchen 

Float to the kitchen cupboard or the table .... 

Go float above over the table or the cupboard and then click your right mouse button to place the audio tape here on the table or on the cupboard 

It is a bit dim in the kitchen and so Abigail can not see things that well ....

There is a note next to the left window but Abigail can not read it .... there must be more light in the kitchen first. Close de kitchen door.

The light button will then be visible behind the kitchen door, so turn on the light by pressing the action icon on the light button

Now Abigail can read that note, so do that ......

The note describes the key to the back door. Remember  the description of this key in your memory ......It's small, gray and with a label in the same color.  

Click the note away. Go left and leave the kitchen and this house, through the back door.

Outside you look at the kitchen door, which is actually the back door of the house ...

Of course, the door is locked and that will be a problem if Abigail wants to take an item, such as the audio tape, out of the house.

Abigail must therefore look for the key of the kitchen / back door of the house. The note in the kitchen tells Abigail what this key looks like. Float to the left .....

Abigail arrived at the well and the church .... Left is the Shop of .......... You can enter the well, but do not do this yet. Go left into the house ..... You are in the:

Shop:

You can view a number of things at the counter but nothing matters ...In the back of the store there is a workbench and above the workbench there is a board with keys. Now first go up to the 1e floor and ....On the left sits a very cold corpse in the chair ..... The corpse has a letter on its lap .......View the body and then view the letter and read it through ...... 

Would this corpse be George Standford? There is nothing else to do on this floor so go back down to the store / workshop. Go to the board with Keys and zoom in on it .....

There are some keys on the board and one of those keys is the kitchen door key, but which? The note in the kitchen of the Standford House tells you that it is a small gray key with a label on it ....... Well ..... the only key with a label is the 3rd key at the top left ..... Look at that key and then take it off the plate .......You take "Possession" of the Key

Abigail is the key now, so go back outside and to the back door / kitchen door of the Standford house and use the key and .....

Abigail  unlocks the door. Go in and to the Audio Tape, that you have left here in the kitchen on the table, or on the cupboard, under the windows ......

Drop the key and take possession the audio tape again ........ Abigail is the audio tape again ... Fly out and go to the water well again .....

Now float into the well and down to the bottom. The well is dry and there is some debris on the bottom. There is a stick on the rubble ......

Place the audio tape on the left side of the floor and then look at the stick and take possession of the stick ........

Abigail is then the stick and the light is then changed and .....

In the left wall you see a number of joints around a stone that glow white......Look at those joints ..... A hidden opening? ..... 

Slam with the stick on the stone where those joints light up and ...... Abigail pushes that stone in and underneath it a secret tunnel opens.

Leave the stick and pick up the Audio tape again and fly into the tunnel as an audio tape and continue to the left and ......

Abigail is then in the sewer. Continue to the left ........ On the wooden platform is a table with chair and a bookcase.

 On the table there is a diary and in the upper left it goes up through a shaft. View and read the diary, which is on the table .....

There are multiple pages, so click the white arrow to browse to the next pages.

The bookcase has nothing of interest, so fly up the shaft and .....Abigail ends up in the basement of the store / shop house. 

On the table is a tape recorder .......... Place the audio tape on the tape recorder and .......You hear / read now what is on the audio tape ........... 

It is a message from Sally to Robert ......... Take the good notion of the hint "Right hand, Left hand ...... The words will allow you to enter"

Click away the text screen ...... Abigail is Abigail again .....Continue to the left ..... Above the stairs the storm door of the cellar and the hatch is closed ....... Abigail can of course go through the closed hatch, but not if she is in "Possession" of an item. Look at the stormy hatch ...... A broomstick clamps the hatch closed

Do not go through the hatch now but go up through the ceiling, at the right of the stairs and ......

Abigail is back in the Shop ...... Fly to the left and leave the store through the back door........Abigail is in the backyard of the store ..... You can see the storm door of the cellar .....

That storm door must open because it may be necessary that Abigail has to take an item out of the cellar. 

At the back of the garden is the barn, so go to the left and then enter the barn.

In the front of the barn a saw sticks into the straw ... Look at the saw and take the saw then in possession .....

Go back to the storm door, as a saw, and use the saw to cut through the broom handle and open the hatch.

When that has happens, you leave the saw. Go back to the barn and now go left through the barn. In the back of the barn is a table with chair and a bookcase. On the left wall hangs a kind of loudspeaker on the closed back door ..... Try if Abigail can leave the shed here but ..... No ... Abigail can not go through the door or the wall. View the Loudspeaker ...... Abigail finds it a strange thing .... is it meant to listen or to sing through it? Think about the hint that you heard on the audio tape  "Right hand, Left hand, The words will allow you to enter ..." .A ladder goes down to the cellar....

Now go through the floor, down to the basement under the barn. On the fragile table is a radio ....

Watch the radio and then go in close-up via the action icon ....... The red channel finder is now completely to the left and you will hear only noise .... Turn the right button to search for new channels .... With the right button you turn the red channel finder to the right ..... You turn the button by clicking on it with your left mouse and then holding it down while you turn around with your mouse .... Keep turning the red channel finder to the right until ...... You hear a voice ...... Abigail is surprised because she hears her own voice through the radio and she also reports this

Click Abigail's comment away and then take possession of the radio ..... Fly the radio back up the ladder and then to the Speaker ..... Use the Radio on the loudspeaker and ...... You then must type a text in the screen ........ Now remember that ticket for the Dunchurch Dance ....... Sally loved to dance and she really enjoyed that dance night ...... So type in the screen "Sally Dunchurch" and .....

... the back door of the barn will go open ....

Leave the radio here now and then go through the door and ... We end up in the hut and the bedroom of Alexander ...

The gramophone on the bed plays a song ....... Read Abigail's comments and then click them away ..... In front of the bed there is a box that is half open .....

 In the box there is another diary ..... View that diary and read it via the action icon ...... It is Alexander's diary ...

Read the letter and then browse the pages and ....... In the diary you see the "Opposite Sigil van Paimon" ...

Read the texts and then click the diary and ......

You get to see the plan of the Blackwood house and then the game tells you that Abigail can now also go through the "yellow runes walls" in the big house.

Well ...... For the time being Abigail is ready here in the village of Oakmarsh..... Click the TAB-Key to bring up the floor plans and then browse to the Blackwood Manor floor plan and then click on the bottom left box to return to the front yard of Blackwood Manor.

Blackwood Manor

Enter the big house through the front door and then go through all the downstairs rooms to the Raven room.

The mirror cabinet is now a passage to another room ..... So float through the mirror cabinet and ......  

through a crack in the left mirror Abigail sees a smoking room and through the right mirror she sees a library and she has a comment about it.

Go back to the Raven room and then go outside through the back door ...... We are back in the backyard .... Go a screen to the right to end up in:
