Chapter 6: : In the Volcano: Part 1: Rescue baby Amanda

The Submarine has sailed you into the Volcano and has moored in the cave. In the video you also saw a Drawbridge that stands open....You'll have to lower that drawbridge somehow. 

Zoom out of the steering wheel, turn around and go to the pump room doors and then up the submarine via the ladder. You are again on top of the submarine. Turn left and .......

Behind a "window" in the cave wall you'll see the Dark Being appear. What's worse is that the Dark Being now knows that you are in the volcano and he will take his countermeasures. Turn around using the reversing arrow. You can see the Mole on the "quay". Go forward on the quay and turn left and go forward one time...

The mole:

De Mole is a locomotive converted into a drill. At the front is the big drill and at the back is the crane. De Mol is on a railway track. In the middle of the Mol you can see the door through which you can enter the Mol. There is a hatch right next to the door. Click on that hatch. The hatch appears in the close-up screen, so click it again to open it up......it's a kind of toolbox with some tools in it....

There is dynamite, a big Red Pliers, a gray Spanner and a big Cutter in this toolbox. Grab a few bars of Dynamite 1 and the big red Pliers 2 from the box and close the close-up screen. 

Turn right. You are standing in front of the entrance to the first tunnel. The tunnel is closed with a double gate witch is locked with a latch. Click on the left side of the latch. In the close-up screen you'll  see that the latch is locked with a padlock. Cut off the padlock with the big red pliers. The padlock disappears and the red pliers returns to the Mole's tool compartment. Now click on the doors to open them now. 

Turn around and head back to the submarine. Then turn right and forward to the Mol. Now click on the door of the Mole to open it and go ahead into the Mole. 

In the Mole you first turn left and then you click on the gray Handle. 

You now have light and electricity in the Mol. 

Turn around using the reversing arrow and go forward to the control panel of the Mole. The control panel has levers and buttons. We will give them a letter.

  • At the top left you see a panel with a slide lever and a button. 

  • Call the slider A and that button B.

  • Below A and B is a large turn lever. That's turn handle C.

  • On the right you see a red button D. 

  • Right next to D is the big lever E. 

  • Above Handle C and Button D you see a small red button. That's Button F.

While driving with the Mole you will come to places where you can get off .A Red Button appears at the bottom left of the screen. That is the Out/Entry button.

  • Lever A and button B are for the crane.

  • Handle C is to turn the switches into the rails.

  • This has to be done while driving.

  • Button D is the start button. 

  • With Lever E you go forward or backward. 

  • You move forward when you raise lever E and backwards when you lower lever E.

  • Knob F is for the Drill

You're  going to drive with the Mole now. Click on button D to start the engine and then click lever E upwards  and ....... you drive away into the tunnel but it's only a short drive now because after a few seconds the Mole comes to a halt on a large round platform and the Out / In button appears at the bottom left. Click on this button to go out the Mole....... you will end up next to the Mole on the platform. 

Platform A. Switch 1 and the Drawbridge:

You will encounter several of these large round platforms in the volcano.  Name this Platform A. These platforms are both lifts and turntables and are used to take the Mole up/down and to turn the Mole around. If you look forwards to the edge of this platform A, you'll see a  small pillar with behind it  a Motor.

Click on the left side of the motor. It appears in the close-up screen. The motor has a lever. With the lever of the motor you can let the platform go up or down. Close the close-up screen. Now click on the small pillar, that is standing before the motor The pillar will also appear in the close-up window. There is a metal ring on the pillar. If you click on this ring, the pillar opens and you see a turning handle. With this turning handle, or crank, you can turn the platform.

Click again on the motor and in the close-up window now  click on the lever of the motor and ...... 

The Platform takes the Mole and you up to the 2nd level of the volcano . 

You are still outside the Mole. Click on the red Out/ In button and you will automatically enter the Mole and the control panel again. 

Now you begin your real journey through the tunnels of the Volcano. With the Mole you now have to go to various locations inside the volcano. While driving you have to change rail several times by changing the switches. You have to do this while driving and you have to do it at the right time by clicking on handle C. I shall tell when you must click handle C to turn a switch on time.

If the Mole has shut down, click on Button D to start the Mole up again. Then move Lever E up again and the Mole will drive again. 

After the first turn you see a turn to the left......This is Switch 1,  but you can not go to the left now.

 You can only take the left rail when you come from the other side. However, remember this left turn because later you must take it.. The Mol continues straight ahead and after a number of turns the red Out / In button appears again at the bottom left of your screen. 

Slowly stop the Mole by pressing lever E down. You are at Junction 2 with Switch 2. Get out of the Mol via the Out / In button.

You are outside the Mole on junction 2 with Switch 2.  Whenever you step into the tunnels from the Mole, the Mole control appears as a remote control at the bottom right of the screen. So, even if you are outside the Mole, you can control the Mole. if you have ride the Mole too far now, you can drive the Mole back a bit by using the remote control. 

At the junction of the rail stands a Switch cabinet. In the screenshot  above, that Switch cabinet is located at the tip of the drill of the Mole. So this is Switch 2. Click on the Switch cabinet to see it in close-up. In the close-up window you'll see that there is no lever on the cabinet to throw the switch. Close the close-up screen. To the left of the switch cabinet you see a crate on the floor. Click on that crate and in the close-up window  take out  one of the gray metal bars. 

To the left of the Mol door, you will see the toolbox hatch.....Click on it again and open the toolbox in the close-up screen again. 

Now take out the gray spanner, the ax and the large cutter from the toolbox.

Click again on the switch cabinet. In the close-up window you place the just-packed iron bar in the switch cabinet and then you tighten the bar with the spanner. 

Close the close-up screen and click the Out / In button again to reenter the Mole. 

You must now drive the Mole to the drawbridge over the left rail. But Switch 2 is now set to go straight ahead. You must throw Switch 2 so that you can drive the Mole over the left rail to the drawbridge. But you can only throw switches when you are riding the Mole. So you have to go back a bit with the Mole. 

If the Mole has switch of  then click start button B again and then click Lever E down and.......You drive the Mole backwards until you have passed the first bend and then  you stop the Mole again by clicking lever E to the middle. Then click lever E upwards again to move forward again to  intersection 2 and switch 2 and.......... immediately begin to click on Handle C. Keep clicking Handle C until it goes to the right to throw switch 2 to the left and.....

......The Mol will now take the left rail and tunnel  and further  and will automatically stop at the drawbridge.

De Mole can not continue because the Drawbridge is up. If you step out you can take a look at the drawbridge.

The Drawbridge has to be brought down and that must be done with the crane of the Mole. But the crane is at the back of the Mol. So you have to turn the Mole and therefore you must drive the Mole back to platform A now and you must do this backwards. 

So go back in the Mole and drive all the way back to Platform A. When you cross over Switch 2 again you'll see that it goes automatically go back to the straight position. Stop the Mole on Platform A and step out via the red Out / In button. You are standing on top of the Mol. Turn left 1 time via the left arrow. 

You can see the Turning Pillar standing at the edge of the platform. 

Click on the pillar to get it back into the close-up screen and then click on the metal ring. The box will open and you will see the rotating handle.

Click on the round knob of the handle and hold down your mouse button. Now rotate the handle quickly a number of times clockwise. You do this by holding down your mouse button and then making circular movements with your mouse. Do this quickly and about 10 turns. Then release your mouse button and ......... The Platform will turn around 1 turn. 

Repeat this again so that you have turned the platform 2 times. The Crane site of the Mole is now the front side, but you drive the Mole backwards now to the Drawbridge. Step into the Mole and click Lever E down again. Remember that you are now going backwards, back to the Drawbridge, so you can not see when you reach junction 2 with Switch 2.  So start clicking Handle C right away and keep this up until C goes right again.....this way you can be sure that you throw Switch 2 in time to take the left rail again to the drawbridge. The Mole comes to a halt again in front of the Drawbridge. Go out of the Mole. You see the Drawbridge and the Mole that stands for it.

Bottom right you'll have the remote controls for the crane the operation. Click on Button B to click it down. Then click Lever A all the way to the right. 

The hook of the crane lowers and grabs a handle. Click Lever A al the way back to the left again and ....... the Hook lifts the lever and the Drawbridge will come down. 

Automatically  you go back into the Mole. You can now drive further over the drawbridge, but that is not such a good idea because Dark Being has, just past the Drawbridge, removed a piece of rail out of the track and because you drive backwards you will never see that point coming in time and the Mole will derail. But if you want to see the derailment of the Mole then first SAVE YOUR GAME here and then continue to drive backwards, over the Drawbridge, until the Mole derails. It will be GAME OVER, so load your last Save Game to be back at the drawbridge.

Broken rail, Workshop and Door 1. 

You have to turn the Mole again, so the Drill side is front side again. So drive the Mole again, backwards, back to Platform A. On Platform A you stop the Mole again and get out. You are standing back on top of the Mole. Turn left once again via the left arrow and click again on the turning pillar. Turn Platform A 2 times again and then go back into the Mole. 

Now you drive forward again by starting the Mole and clicking lever E UP again. Immediately after the Mole starts driving click Handle C and keep doing this until C turns right again, to throw Switch 2 to the left rail and the drawbridge again.  Keep driving and the Mole now goes over the drawbridge and then the red Out/In button appears again at the bottom left of your screen......Stop the Mole immediately....  you are at the spot where a piece of rail is removed out of the tracks. Get out of the Mole.

Go a screen to the left via the left arrow. You see a right tunnel and a left tunnel. The route for the Mole continues through the right tunnel. There are a few pieces of rails lying on the ground at the left tunnel. Click on each of those pieces of rail and 1 of them will appear in the close-up window. Then grab the big Cutter from your inventory and click on that piece of rail in the close-up screen. You cut the piece of rail loose and the cutting pliers disappear to your inventory. Grab the cut-out piece of rail from the close-up screen. It disappears into your inventory. I bet you did not know that you were so strong that you could carry such a heavy piece of iron.

Close the close-up screen and turn back to the right. Now click on the curved piece of rail in the track before the Mole. This also comes in the close-up screen and in this you click again with the big cutting pliers on this bent piece of rail to loosen it. Click on the rail to remove it and put the rail you just picked up in its place

Close the close-up screen and enter the Mole again. Click Lever C up again and continue through the right tunnel.

 After a few turns the Mole reaches the end of the track and comes to a standstill. Do not step out. It seems to be a "Dead End", but now click on button F and ....... 

The big Drill of the Mole now drills a large round hole in the rock wall. 

Get out of the Mole and then move forward through the big round hole. 

You come in the Workshop Cave:

Look around here. On the left is a work table on witch you will soon be putting the Reduction Gun together. But not just yet. 

In the back of the cave is a short tunnel. Go into that tunnel. 

There is a large metal door at the back of the tunnel. This is DOOR 1. Behind Door 1 is the Teleporter room of  the Dark Being. There you'll find Jeremiah and there you'll soon catch the Dark Being with the reduction gun. That is not possible now because Door 1 is not open now. But at least you have now opened up a "back entrance" to this cave and know which route you have to take to get here with the Mole

Door 2 and closed gate

Leave this cave through the large drilled round hole and go back into the Mole. Put Lever E down because you have to drive backwards now. Drive all the way back until you have come across junction 2 with Switch 2. Then stop the Mole, or drive all the way  back to platform A.  Switch 2 has automatically turn back to go straight again, so start the Mole and now drive forwards. At Switch 2 you go into the right tunnel to Platform B and Switch  3

Stop the Mole on Platform B for a moment. Beyond Platform B is junction 3 with Switch3. At  junction 3 the tracks goes left and right. Switch 3 turns to the right  track but you want to go to the left. So,  from Platform B  drive ahead now, but immediately begin to click Handle C to turn Switch  3 to the left track on time. 

At junction 3 the Mole will go follow the left track and tunnel and .......

After the first bend you see Dark Being  through 2 "windows" in the tunnel wall. Dark Being runs along with the Mole.....

The Mole continues and you see Dark Being  again, but what is he doing now ...Dark Being drops a load of boulders on the track

De Mole comes to a standstill just before the boulders. Get out of the Mole. 

Those boulders have to be removed from the rails. Take the bars of dynamite from your inventory and place them on top of the front boulders. 

Then light your lighter and click with the burning lighter on the dynamite and ......

 BANG..........You are back in the Mole and the rocks are gone and the track is undamaged. Drive further ahead to the end of this tunnel. The track ends here and the Mole automatically comes to a standstill. You don't get the red Out / In button to get out now. So turn around and leave the Mole through the left door. 

Go forward and you will be standing in a tunnel and in front of a large Metal Door. This is DOOR 2 and this too is closed tight and you can not open it. 

Zoom out, turn around and go back into the Mole and into the control panel. Put the Mole in reverse and drive back to Platform B. Stop on Platform B. Switch 3 is automatically put to the right again. From Platform B you go forward again an at junction 3 the Mole will turn right and ....... will stop at a closed gate that blocks the further passage. 

This gate must be open because you have to go further here to reach the Lava Pit.  But isn't nice ..... you did all that effort, put down a drawbridge, repaired a track, drilled a hole and blew up some rocks...For what  ??? To find doors that are not going to open and a gate that's closed. You would almost pack it in......... Let's do something positive for a change. Let's see if we can free Amanda from the clutches of that Dark Being 

Put the Mole back in reverse again and drive back over junction 3, Platform B and junction 2.  When you have crossed junction 2, you are close to junction 1 with Switch 1....Click like crazy again on Handle C so that at junction 1 Switch 1 goes to the left and......The Mole does not go to Platform A but just before Platform A the Mole goes to the left and then comes to a halt at the end of this tunnel. Again you do not get the red Out / In button, so turn around  and go through the left door out of the Mol. Turn left. 

Free  Amanda Part 1:

You stand before the Mole on a wooden jetty. Turn left.....You are at the beginning of a conveyor belt  production line. 

Boulders are being transported to the left along the assembly line. Turn left 2 times. One big metal wall keeps you from going forwards any further.  The conveyor belt continues through the metal wall. The lower part of the metal wall goes up, every time a boulder hits the metal  wall. There are holes in the flap of the metal wall. There is also a hole in the upper part of the wall. Every time the lower part goes up, the top hole of the lower part coincides with the hole in the upper part. If you could put something through the top hole then the lower wall will stay up. 

Take the umbrella out of your handbag and close your bag. Check that the umbrella is not open. With the umbrella now, aim for the hole in the upper part of the metal wall and when the cover goes up, quickly click the umbrella into the hole and the umbrella will  pierce it and prevent that the lower part goes down again

 this is a question of clicking the hole with the umbrella at the right time. And this only works if you have never opened the umbrella. If you have opened the umbrella then you will never be able to close the umbrella and you can never put the umbrella in the hole. This means that you can't finish the game and you shall have to start the game from the very beginning again. At the beginning of the game, where you took the umbrella, I have told you to never unfold the umbrella, so do not blame me if you have been so stupid to unfold the umbrella

If you have put the umbrella in the hole, turn left.. You see Amanda. Amanda is locked in a cage behind a large fence.

 Before Amanda's cage you see 2 pipes. There is a turning wheel on each pipe. The console is between the pipes.

There are 2 levers on the console and a red button between the 2 levers. The console does not have power, so you can not free Amanda right now. You can, however, raise the left lever. That is the lrver to open up the gate in the tunnel past Junction 3. So click on that left lever to raise it now. 

Then turn left again and you are again in front of the Mole. Go forward to the Mole. You will automatically return to the Mol.  Zoom in on the control and click Lever E up again and now drive forward and stay away from Handle C because you do not need to change any switches now.  De Mole goes via junction 1, junction 2, Platform B and junction 3 back to the gate in the tunnel. The gate is now open, so the Mole continues and enters the Turnaround Circle. On the other side of the circle, the Mole goes right into the tunnel and comes to a standstill because the end of the rail has been reached. You do not get the Off / In button. So turn around and go through the right door out of the Mole. 

You are next to the Mole and look into a cave. In the cave you can see a large boiler with pipes and wheels. Go forward into the cave.

 You are in the: 

Lava Pit part 1

Generator Cave.

They are 2 large steam boilers. Go ahead one more time. You are then right in front of the two boilers. There are a total of 7 pipes on the boilers. Via these pipes the steam is brought from the boilers to various places in the volcano. Some pipes are "on", but others are "off". You must switch the pipes that are "Off" to "On" by clicking on the relevant wheels.

Number the pipes, from left to right, 1 to 7 and then click on the wheel of: Pipe 3, Pipe 4 and Pipe 7. Stay away from the other wheels. 

Pipes 3, 4 and 7 now flow steam to the console at Amanda and to Door 1 and Door 2. 

Turn right and..........right next to the back exit of the cave hangs a map of the pipe system in the lava pit. Go check it out

Click this map away again and go forward through the large exit. You are standing on a metal platform. You are now standing above the lava pit. Go forward once more to the edge of the platform. You look down at the hot liquid Lava, deep beneath you and you'll see a diving bell. You automatically zoom out after a few seconds. Turn right and.......You see an iron grid path along the cave wall. 

You can not go on here now  because there is a segment missing in the iron path. Turn right again to stand in front of the entrance of the generator cave. Now go back into the cave via the Slanted Left Up Arrow and then move forward to get back to the Mole. Enter the Mol again and go to the controls.

Free baby Amanda part 2:

It is high time to free Amanda out of here cage, so you have to go back to Amanda now.  Drive the Mole backwards until you are back in the turning loop. You drive the Mole back over junction 3, Platform B, junction2 and if you have passed junction 2, click Handle C again to turn Switch 1 on time so that the Mole does not go straight to Platform A, but goes into to the right  tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, the Mole automatically comes to a standstill at the wooden jetty where the conveyor belt and Amanda are . Get out of the Mole and turn right and you are right in front of Amanda and in front of the console with the 2 pipes. 

There is a turning wheel on each pipe. Click on wheel A, that's on the right pipe. Then click the right Lever B, on the console, down......so towards you.

Once you have done this, you automatically turn to the beginning of the conveyor belt where you'll see a Magnet appear above the conveyor belt.

Turn right 2 times to be back at Amanda and the console. 

You must now get the magnet to lift a boulder from the conveyer belt and then bring the magnet with the boulder above the white handle D, that is sticking on the right site of Amanda's cage.  This happens when you click on the red Button C of the console. But because you are facing Amanda and the console, you can not see the magnet and  therefore you can not see whether the magnet picks up a boulder . So you have to guess it....... 

Click the red Button C a few times and then turn around. If you are lucky, The magnet will pick up a boulder en lift it up

If the magnet has not lift up a boulder then turn back to the console and click the red button A few times  again and then turn around again. Repeat this until a boulder is attached to the magnet.

As soon as a boulder is attached to the magnet, turn back to the console. Now push the right Lever B forward, so towards Amanda.

You automatically turn around and see that the Magnet, with the little boulder  on it, goes towards Amanda.

Turn back to the console again and push the right Lever B back to Amanda. The Magnet with the rock now hangs to the right of the cage and  above the white ever D of the Cage.

Click on the red Button C, on the console, again and .......

The boulder falls down on the white lever D and ...... Amanda sinks down through the bottom of the cage.

Turn right. You are standing in front of the metal wall where the conveyor belt goes through and where your Umbrella still sticks in the hole. Go Forward on the assembly line and ....... You will come to Amanda. Amanda sits  in a cart. Click on Amanda and........

You grab Amanda and Amanda sits from now on in your inventory. 

Turn 3 times left so that you are in front of the metal wall again.  Grab your Umbrella back out of the metal wall......Do not forget this.....

Make sure that the Umbrella comes in your Handbag and not in one of the normal Inventory slots. Take another object out of your handbag and click that object on the umbrella to return the umbrella into the handbag. Turn left 2 times and then head back to the Mol. You automatically return into the Mol.

You must drive the Mole back now to the Lava Pit. You do not have to change any Switches in the tracks now. Move Lever E down and drive  all the way back to the Generator Cave. At the Generator Cave the Mol automatically comes to a standstill. Go out of the Mole, into the cave and into the metal platform of the:

Lava Pit: Part 2:

Turn right. You are back in front of the grid path. A grid segment is missing in the path. If you count from below, then the 3rd grid is not there. Click in that hole, past the second grid. In the close-up window you will see the hanging 3rd grid. Take the umbrella out of your handbag and click with the folded umbrella on  the hanging grid. This is now rising. Be quick.....click on the latch that is on the right to connect the two grids together. 

Close the close-up screen and now advance one time over the grid path. You are on the 2nd platform and in front of the control box of the diving bell. 

The dive bell is right in front of you under the 3rd platform......click on the rightmost lever of the control box and....... The diving bell now rises. 

Continue ahead on the path and you are right in front of the diving bell. There is a lever under the round window. Click on the lever. The door of the diving bell opens. So go inside.

The diving bell:

You're sitting in the dive bell in front of the big window. On the left a lever and a golden star button and on the right a lever. The left lever is to operate the grapper arm. With the Golden star knob you turn the Grapper of the gripper arm. The right lever is to lower and raise the dive bell.

You can control the 2 levers with your mouse by clicking on them, but it is better to use the Arrow keys on your keyboard. Use the Up and Down Arrow keys on your keyboard to lower the dive bell. Use the Left and Right Arrow keys to operate the grapper arm.

You have to go down with the diving bell to almost at the bottom of the Lava pit. During the descent you will see pipes, on the wall of the pit. There are 6 ARROWS on these pipes. Those arrows are valves. All 6  arrows ore oriented upwards. At the bottom of the Lava pit floats a rock platform in the hot lava and on that platform floats a sphere. In the sphere is the last piece of the reduction gun, so that sphere must go open. You do this by turning 4 of the 6 Arrow valves, in the pipes, HORIZONTAL, so to the left or to the right. You must do this with the grabber

Start now with lower the dive bell to the pipes,,,,,, Do this by pressing the DOWN button on your keyboard.

In a video you can see the diving bell going down. The diving bell halts halfway through the Lava pit and turns around.

You are then hanging just above the Pipes that are on the wall. Now lower the Dive Bell a little further until you see the first ARROW in the pipes.

There are 6 ARROW VALUES. Number them, from top to bottom, as: A, B, C, D, E, F. You are now at Arrow A. Now operate the Grapper Arm with your Left and Right Arrow keys on your keyboard. Turn the grapper arm all the way out and aim the grapper at the arrow in the pipe. 

Make sure that the grapper is under  Arrow A. Then rise up so that the Grapper is exactly on Arrow A. Then Click with your mouse on the Golden Star button to turn Arrow A Horizontal

As I said.....there are 6 arrows on the pipes, A, B, C, D, E, F. But you only have to turn the arrows A, B, D, F horizontal. You leave the arrows E and C upright. 

When you have turn arrow A horizontal go down to Arrow B and turn that one horizontal to.

Continue down to the arrows D and F and turn them horizontal and then go further down to the bottom of the pit.......

You are then just above the liquid lava. You see the Sphere on the platform and the Sphere is now open. In the Sphere you'll see the last piece for the reduction gun and you have to take it out the sphere with the grabber, so do that

When you have the object, you have to go back up and while going back up you must turn the 4 Arrows, which you rotated horizontally during the descent, back into the upright position........All 6 Arrows have to point up again. Do not forget this because if you do forget this you can not end the game...

If you are again at the top of Arrow A and have put all the Arrows back up, keep pressing your UP arrow button and the Movie will then take you back up again and you will automatically be back on the metal platform, in front of the entrance of the generator cave

Go through the generator cave back to the Mole, get in the Mole and move Lever E to drive away again. Drive via junction 3, Platform B, junction 2 back to junction 1. Stop the Mole just before junction 1. Then place the Mole in the REVERSE and start clicking Handle C......you drive back to junction 2 and you throw the switch in the track to left the so that the Mole will turn left and goes again over the Drawbridge and the next tunnel and then comes to a standstill at the end of the rails where you previously drilled the big round hole in the rocky wall. Get out of the Mole and enter the Workplace  again via the large round hole.
