Chapter 6: The Eder Kemo / Eder Gira Age

Eder Kemo offers you volcanoes, hot steam geysers and waterfalls. The Age also has a day and night cycle. Depending on the time, it will be light or dark. Eder Gira is the Garden Age and offers you a beautiful garden environment and you will have to pick up some  fireflies to illuminate the Cave behind the Waterfall. In Eder Gira, the weather is also changing ... One moment the weather is nice and sunny but then it suddenly starts raining and storming.

Part 1: The Geyser Puzzle:

You arrive in Eder Kemo in a small valley and you are faced with a slope that goes up. Go in 3rd person if you were not already. Take a look around. Turn slightly to the right. In the back of this small valley, on the right side of the slope, you see a number of Geysers.

From 2 of these geysers comes a constant stream of steam and from the 3rd geyser steam comes occasionally. That geyser is lockable with a wooden lid. On the rock wall, above that lockable Geyser 6, is a ledge and there hangs the 2nd "Journey Cloth" of this Age. However, you can not reach that Journey Cloth now. Turn around completely, so that your back is facing the slope. You now facing Geyser 1.  Next to the Geyser is the Wooden Lid with which you can cover the Geyser. A Foot pedal is located on the right of this cover. Call this Geyser number 1. The Geyser in the corner is Geyser 6

There are a total of 6 of these "Coverable" Geysers in the first part of this Age. The intention is that you cover 5 of them so that the pressure of all the steam will only comes out through the 6th, not covered, geyser. You must never close off all 6 Geysers, because then the pressure will drop and you will have to start all over again.

Geyser 1 is the first Geyser to close, so go to the foot pedal and click on it to slide the Lid over the Geyser.

Then turn around and walk up the slope. When you reach the top, you can turn right or left and in front of you will see a waterfall, on the other side of the deep gorge. Turn right. The path goes up and you see, a bit further and then left at the rock wall, a "Pot-shaped" plant standing at the edge of the path. You will also see the second "Journey Cloth".

Continue to the Pot-shaped plant and then, just before the plant, , walk to the left and go to the edge of the path. If you are still in the 3rd person then "tilt" the camera slightly down and you see, in the depth of the gorge, a rock platform on which you see Geyser 2. Keep standing in the 3rd person and press your right arrow key . The camera rotates clockwise and you will see that there is a small ledge, right under your feet the rock wall.

Well, you have to go down and end up on the ledge. Now walk as far as your can to the edge but be careful not to fall down. Make sure you are standing right above that ledge and stay in 3rd person ..You do not have to jump down,  just step over the edge of the path so that you fall straight down and then land exactly on that ledge. You really need a lot of LUCK here ..... chances are that you miss the ledge and then you end up in Relto ....... But there is no other way here, so you just have to try this ...

Landed on the ledge you turn around to the rock wall and then you touch the 1st "Journey Cloth" which is "stuck" on the rock here.

Then turn around and go back to the 3rd person, if you were not already. So now you have to get onto that platform with Geyser 2, below you. This requires a Running Jump and that is not easy....I have done this jump in 3rd person ..... that was easier for me than in 1st person ...... Press your back against the "Journey Cloth" wall  to be able to run, but make sure that you can see the rock platform. Press your Shift key and hold one finger above your Jump key. Hold down Shift Key and press your Forward Key and IMMEDIATELY press your Jump Key and......... with a lot of luck you will end up on that platform at Geyser 2.

Close Geyser 2 with the lid by clicking on the foot pedal. Then turn around. With Geyser 2 in your back you look across the gap to the other side.

You can also see a number of Geysers on the other side ... these are the Geysers 3 and 4. Well, there you have to go and that is another, difficult, Running Jump.

Walk backwards to take a good run and place your Avatar in such a way that she / her is aimed at the "pointed edge" and then do the Running Jump. Hopefully you land there. I just landed on the edge ..... so keep pressing your forward button to continue immediately because otherwise your Avatar will still fall down ..

NB: If you do not get this jump, you will return to Relto and you will have to start from the ledge with the 1st "Journey Cloth" again. There is also another way to get to that plateau, but I'll explain that later when we're at the 5th Geyser.

If you also have made this jump then you walk straight on to the Geysers 3 and 4.

Geyser 3 is the furthers of the 2 Geysers and lies in front of a rock blockade. Behind that blockade your route continues but you can not get over the blockade ... at least ... not yet.

Now close Geyser 3, by standing on its foot pedal and then turn around and go to Geyser 4 and close Geyser 4 also

When you have closed Geysers 3 and 4, you run up the slope. When you reach the top, your route continues to the right, over the Stone Arch.

However, if you step on the edge of the path for a moment, you will see the platform where Geyser 2 is located, deep beneath you.

As you can see, you're now on the other side of the gorge

NB: This is also a point where you can jump down to Geyser 2, so if you did not manage to jump from  the 1st "Journey Cloth" ledge to Geyser 2 you can also try it here.

But I assume that you have already reached Geyser 2, so continue on the Stone Arch and then follow the path to Geyser 5.

At Geyser 5 you are then high above your starting point. Now also close Geyser 5.

You have now closed 5 Geysers but Geyser 6, in the small valley where you started, is open All steam now goes to Geyser 6, so we now have to go back to Geyser 6, in the beginning valley. Follow the long path down. You come back where you went up the slope.

Descend via the slope back down to the little valley and now go to Geyser 6, in the corner on the right side of the slope.

All steam pressure is now fed to this Geyser 6. Wait until there is no steam coming out the Geyser and then step on the Geyser and ....

.... the Steam pushes your Avatar up and it will land on the ledge and the 2nd "Journey Cloth" .

Activate the 2nd "Journey Cloth"

Jump back down and then go back up the slope again. Turn right again and follow the path along the cliff back to the 5th Geyser, that you have closed.

Go left again, follow the path between the rocks, back to and over the Stone Arch and then via the slope back to the geysers 3 and 4.

Go to Geyser 3 and now open up Geyser 3 again by clicking on the foot pedal again.

Turn around and walk the entire route, via Geyser 5, back to the small valley, so to Geyser 6. Now close Geyser 6 by clicking on the foot pedal and follow the route back to Geyser 3. All steam will now go to Geyser 3. Wait until no steam is coming out Geyser 3  and then quickly step on Geyser 3 and ........

......the next burst of steam will blast your Avatar over the rock blockade up and you end op on the other side ............

Follow the path. The path bends to the right and then passes under three metal arches and through a large ribcage and then you are at:

Part 2: The Lake and the Waterfalls:

Preparing for the Firefly Puzzle:

On the left is the lake with the 2  waterfalls. The water of the lake runs through a narrow river and exactly where the lake stops and the river starts is the narrowest point. On the "peninsula" stand a big Rock. First  you should walk straight ahead to the end and then turn right onto the round Podium.

There is a pillar on the Podium and on it is the Eder Gira Linking Book

Do not use this Eder Gira Linking Book NOW. First we must make some preparations for the most frustrating puzzle of this game and we have to do this in the lake and at the waterfalls.

Turn around and walk down the platform again and go to the left, to where the river streams into the lake. Cross through the water to the other side.

You are now on the "peninsula", right next the larger of the 2 waterfalls. There is a large round rock here.

The side of the rock, which faces the lake, is hollow and there is a Stone Linking Tablet in it. Do NOT use the Linking Tablet. This Linking tablet links back to a DRC area and that is another "Dead End". If you use this Tablet now you will then have to link back to Relto and then back to the 2nd "Journey Cloth". So it is better to wait until later to use this Tablet.

Now look at the  Waterfall. There are two next to each other and behind both waterfalls you see the entrance of a cave. It is 1 cave with two entrances.

Go behind the waterfall and then step into the water and jump into the cave.

It is somewhat dark in the cave so you can use some light. Right in the corner is a Steam Light Generator and you have to turn it on.

Walk to the Generator and then click on top of the thing to turn the thing on and ....... you have light in this corner of the cave

In the left part of the cave, so behind the left waterfall, there is another generator.

Walk on to the 2nd Generator but BEWARE ..... do not walk into the dark tunnel because you MAY not yet end up in it. Turn on the 2nd Generator as well.

Now it becomes difficult. You have to go through the dark tunnel, but you need light to go through the tunnel. You now have to go to Eder Gira to "catch" a flock of fireflies and "fireflies" and then bring them back to this cave. Unfortunately fireflies hate water, so you'll have to make a kind of "bridge" to cross the river and the lake with the fireflies to get them into the cave and the tunnel

Between the two entrances of the cave is a wall and at that wall lies a stool.

Walk  to the stool and stand behind it, so that you look over the stool at the right entrance of the cave ...

......Now push / kick this wooden stool out of the cave into the lake and then through the waterfall.

Push the stool through the lake to the beginning of the river, so to point A in this screenshot

You must place this wooden "stool" now, at point A and it has to clamp between the two banks of the river and you have to do that at the narrowest point. It will take some pushing and pulling to get the stool at the right place and in the right position The stool must be on exactly the right position in the river because otherwise you can not cross over it with the fireflies. The stool will be the "Bridge" that you have to cross over with the fireflies, so you better try it out first without fireflies

You may not come into contact with the water at all if you go over the "bridge" when you have the fireflies with you. If it happens, then the fireflies will not want to go over this "bridge" with you and they will fly back to Eder Gira. You can place the stool across or in the length between both banks. I

When you are satisfied that your stool bridge is ok, then go back to the Eder Gira Linking Book on the round podium and then click on it.

Click the Link Photo and you travel to:

Part 3: Eder Gira. The Garden Age.

The Eder Gira Linking Book is, from now on, in slot 6 of your bookcase in Relto. It is the Green Book. In Eder Gira it can occasionally Rain and there will be thunderstorms. That does not have to be a problem as long as you do not have fireflies with you yet. Fireflies have a huge dislike of water, so also of rain, and if it rains they will not want to go with you. You will experience thunderstorms and rain during your trips through the gardens of Eder Gira. Try to estimate how long a dry and sunny period last between two Thunderstorms periods

You arrive under a stone "roof" on a small round square and  straight ahead you a stone staircase will bring you up.

Walk up the stone stairs and ....... yes ... it will rain, at least in my game it did. Run over the path and you'll be above a large clearing where a large rock stand that is surrounded by trees.

Follow the path further down and you will reach a Stone Path.

The Stone Path goes left and right. Follow the path to the right first to the right,  until the pavilion. At the pavilion turn to the right and ....

.. You now look at the other side of that big rock and you see that the 3rd "Journey Cloth" is stuck to the rock .... Go to it and activate it.

Then turn around so that you look at the path and the pavilion again. Walk back to the pavilion.

To the right of the pavilion is a gray / white rock wall. The 4th "Journey Cloth" is on the other side of the rock wall.

Behind the pavilion, and behind that rock wall, there is a forest of young trees. Walk along the right side of the pavilion to the back of the forest and then go to the right and you are in the space behind that gray / white rock wall. This is a dead end but you see the 4th "Journey Cloth" on this wall....... Activate it.

Turn around and walk back to the stone path. To the left, the path goes to the large fountain but we do not go there now. Follow the stone path now back to the right and past the point where you entered this "garden".  The path splits to the left and to the right. To the right the path ends at the large "Journey Door" but you do not want to go to the Bahro Cave just now

.Follow the path to the left and through the tunnel and you enter the 2nd garden. Walk on. Left and right are tall "Bulb" trees.

The "bulbs" of those trees are orange and they look like brains. We will therefore call them the "Brain Trees".

Follow the path further. You come under a "roof" and stand before a "border stone.", that's on the crossroad.... The path goes straight on, but also right,

Turn right and walk 1 or 2 steps and then turn left. You look at the rock wall and you see a round cove where you can see all kinds of carvings. A lantern hangs above the cove on a pole

Walk to the entrance of the round cove and then walk up the white / gray ledge that goes up to the lamp post. On lamp post hangs your 5th "Journey Cloth", so touch it to save your progress

Note: If you follow the path from the "Border Stone " to the right then you will reach the "Floating and Spinning Obelisk." If you already have the DVD with the expansion game "The Path of the Shell" installed, then there will be a pillar on the back of this Obelisk on which then a Linking Tablet is located. Because I have not installed "The Path of the Shell" yet, this pillar with the Linking Tablet is now not there

Go back to the "Border Stone" at the intersection and from there follow the path to the right. You go down a stone staircase and then you are in the part of the garden where the "PuffPuff" plants are. Straight ahead you see another tunnel. However, first look to the right. There is an open wooden pavilion right next to the path.

Go around this pavilion clockwise and then turn left into the dead-end area. The 6th "Journey Cloth" hangs on the rock wall.

Walk to the "Journey Cloth" and activate it ...

Go back to the stone path and follow it to the right, to the tunnel. Do not enter the tunnel but stop just before the tunnel.

There's a Relto Page to be found but I warn you...it's difficult to get. You have to decide for yourself whether it's  worth the trouble to get this Relto Page.

How to get the Relto Page:

To get the Relto Page you now have to go onto the top of the tunnel entrance. You can do that via the white slopes, left and right of the tunnel entrance. It does not matter which way you walk up. On top of the tunnel entrance there is a Book against the rock wall. Click on this book to get it in your screen.

It is the "King Shomat" book. King Shomat is one of the D'ni kings. You can read the book completely if you want to know more background information about the D'ni culture. Click the book again and turn around now. Go in 3rd person. You are now standing on top of the tunnel entrance and with your back to the rock wall and you are now looking back into the "PuffPuff" plants garden. You see the Stone Arches. On the right side of the stone path you now see that there is a small green platform under the front Stone Arch and you can see something glittering on tat platform. It is your 5th Relto Page.

But how to get on that platform? You see that there is a group of 4 "PuffPuff" plants in front of Relto page platform and in the middle of this group there is a big stone ..... I have named it as Stone B. Now walk right down the slope, but not completely down. If you have come to the flat part of the slope,  that is Point  A, then turn your Avatar to face those 4 "PuffPuff" plants. Make sure your Avatar is standing right in front of Stone B on Place A and........ then do a Running Jump and ..... with a bit of luck land your Avatar will land on top of Stone B.

From top of Stone B you can aim your Avatar at the Relto Page platform and you can reach it with another Running Jump. Landed at the Relto Page you click on.

Click on the green drawing to also paste this Relto page into your Relto Book. From now on, there are all kinds of decorative ornaments on the outside walls of your cottage in Relto.

Jump down to the garden. Well, now go back to the junction under the roof with the "Border Stone",  in the garden with the "Brain Trees". We are now going to catch some  fireflies.

Catching fireflies:

First let me explain a few things about fireflies:

So to sum it all up........

if you have fireflies with you, you must avoid water and steam and you must not run and you can only do one jump. If you for whatever reason loose your fireflies before they have served you, you will have to go back to the "Brain Tree" Garden to collect new fireflies. It's best to do this Firefly business only in 3rd person. All right......lets go get us some f Fireflies and take them with us to the cave, but you can only do this when it is sunny weather. If it is raining now then you have to wait until it's sunny weather again to find the fireflies

You are still standing under the roof at the "Border Stone. The fireflies always appear as a "cloud off fireflies" in the "Brain Tree" forest to the right of the path. Walk around the "Brain Tree" forest and find yourself a green  luminous swarm of Fireflies.... When you have found a swarm of fireflies then you walk right  through the swarm

Make sure you're not running. A small swarm of fireflies will keep flying around your Avatar but these are not enough. Let the swarm of fireflies fly a away from you a bid and then find the swarm again and walk through it again. Now you have enough fireflies that fly around your Avatar. You now have to take the Fireflies back to the waterfalls in Eder Kemo. So follow the stone path back to the tunnel at the back of the "PuffPuff" garden.

NB: If it starts raining before you get into the tunnel, you can quickly take shelter in the wooden pavilion or under the "Border Stone roof", but you may not run. If you do not keep it dry then you will loose the fireflies and you will have to wait until the weather has dried up and then again look for the swarm of  fireflies and walk through them again twice. If it starts raining while you are in the tunnel then you wait in the tunnel until it stops raining and then you continue

Walk through the tunnel ....... On the other side of the tunnel you follow the path and then cross the little lake via the tiles, but make sure your Avatar do not come in contact with the water of the lake.

When you have crossed the lake you enter the cave and continue to the Linking Book, which is on the table.

Click on the Linking Book and then on the Link Picture. It brings you back to the Waterfalls in Eder Kemo.

NB: Just another warning before linking back to the waterfalls. As I already said, Fireflies also do not like steam.

As soon as you get back to the waterfalls, you stand before a geyser that blows out steam. So take this into account.

Back at the Waterfalls:

You'll arrive at the waterfalls again. Beware ....... you are standing in front of a steam geyser so avoid it by walking immediately to the left. Now walk, with your fireflies, to the point where you have put the "stool bridge" in the river. Walk cautiously over this stool bridge onto the peninsula.

NB: If you come into contact with the water of the river or with the water in the lake because you did not put the "stool bridge" in the river in the right spot, then you will loose the fireflies and you will have to link back to Eder Gira via the linking book on the round platform to fire fireflies again. But  first of all you have to "fix" the stool bridge" of course

On the peninsula you walk to the rock wall and you go along the rock wall to the far end, at the cave entrance. You have to go back into the cave, but you can not wade through the water now and then go into the cave, because then you will loose the fireflies. You will have to jump into the cave from the edge of the peninsula, over the stretch of water. But this can not be a Running Jump. Press your Avatar against the rock wall and then go to the extreme edge without even touching the water with 1 toe. Make sure you stand on the right spot, in front of the cave entrance, and place your cursor in the cave. You now have to perform a so-called "Standing Jump" to end up "dry" in the cave. So while you place the cursor in the cave you walk forward and press your jump key at the right moment and you will end up the cave and you will still have your swarm of fireflies with you.

When you have successfully entered into the cave with your fireflies you go to the left side of the cave and walk into the dark tunnel.

The fireflies spread a twinkling light and you can now walk through this tunnel. The tunnel goes up and turns slightly.

Follow the tunnel and you come up in a small cave. Here is the 3rd Steam Light Generator. The fireflies ensure that you can see the thing.

Click on the top of the Steam Light Generator and you have light in the cave.

Turn around in the tunnel...you'll see that there are two tunnel entrances here. You came from the left. We will go that way later.

There is also a large wooden door in this cave. Walk towards it. There is a small lever on the right side of the door. Click on the lever and the door slides open.

Walk through the opening and the short tunnel and you will enter another cave. Through the cave opening you now see the upper waterfall.

You will loose your fireflies in a moment, but that is not bad. Walk out of the cave and go through the waterfall.

STOP.......... You have lost the Fireflies now. You are now standing in the Upper Lake.

Beneath you is the lower lake...........Do not fall over the edge. Turn left and walk through the lake to the other waterfall. Go through the second waterfall and you are in a small cave. In this cave  are a couple of those wooden "stools" of which you have used one  to make the "bridge" over the river. 2 stools lie, or stand, loose in the cave.

You have to push those  two stools, one by one, into the lake and then push them over the edge into the lower lake and then jump down yourself...make sure to land in the water of the lower lake

You are back in the Lower lake. Now it becomes difficult. The two "stools" now float in the lake. You must now push both stools to the right entrance of the cave. That is the entrance where you have already entered the cave twice before, so the entrance to the "peninsula". Here you have to lay the two "stools" in succession, so that they form a "bridge" from the edge of the "peninsula" to the cave. It is quite a hassle to make this happen again. Test your bridge again to see if you can enter the cave with dry feet from the peninsula.  Also test again if your 1st "Bridge", in the river, is still good.

NB: You have to make this "bridge" here in front of the cave entrance because you'll have to enter the cave with Fireflies again. You need the Fireflies again to get to the Final Cave where the 7th "Journey Cloth" is but just before that final cave you will have to do a jump. And because you can only jump once with fireflies, you will need this "bridge" to get back into the lower cave first.

When you are satisfied that your double bridge and your bridge in the river are right now you return to the round stage and use the Eder Gira Book to link back to:

Eder Gira

You arrive again at the beginning of Eder Gira again. Now follow the route back to the "Brain tree Forest". If it rains then you have to wait until the weather is dry. Find the Firefly swarm again and walk through it twice again to get enough fireflies to "stick" to you again. Then follow the route back, through the tunnel at the "PuffPuff garden" and the lake, to the cave and link back to the waterfalls

Up on arrival you avoid the steam geyser again and then you go back to the peninsula over your first bridge .

Back at the Waterfalls caves again:

Walk to the back of the waterfall and now walk carefully over your recently made second bridge into the Cave again.

NB: if your 1st or 2nd bridge is not right then it goes wrong. You then hit the water and you loose the fireflies. Then enter the lake and put your bridge in the right place. You will then have to go back to Eder Gira to catch fireflies again and return with them.

I assume that you also made it for the second time to get into the cave with your fireflies.

Walk back to the left side and go up again through the tunnel to the upper cave. Here you go directly to the left and then into the right tunnel.

You then come out of the right tunnel and you are on a narrow ridge, high above the lakes. Follow the ledge.

The ledge turns around and then it is interrupted by the narrow waterfall that falls down here. STOP.

You have to jump over the waterfall and land on the continuation of the ledge. So this is another Standing Jump because you can not run with Fireflies.

So jump over the waterfall and make sure you land on the continuation of the ledge

NB: If you fail this jump then you loose the fireflies and you have to go back to Eder Gira to get new fireflies and then do this whole piece from there again.

Follow the rest of the rock ledge and it will take you into the End Cave. Walk into the dark part of the cave to the left. Behind the pile of stools is another Steam Light Generator.

Click on the generator to get light in the cave.

Turn around. On the wall you'll see  the 7th "Journey Cloth", so go touch it

You have done it............Your torture is over now and you do not need the Fireflies now. You can now shake off all your STRESS. In fact, you are now almost at the end of the game. Go back out of the cave and follow the ledge again. At the small waterfall you can then jump down into the lower lake.

NB: instead of jumping down from the ledge you can also return to the cave with the Wooden Door and then through the opened Wooden Door to the cave behind the upper waterfall . Then walk through the waterfall into the upper lake and then jump over the edge down into the lower lake.

Anyway ....... down you go to the "Peninsula" and on the "Peninsula" go to the Stone Linking Tablet that lies on that big rock.

Click on the Linking Tablet and then on the Photo and you travel to the:

 D'ni City:

Do not expect too much of it. You arrive at a walled courtyard. It is again a DRC "Dead End", but this is important though when you are going to do "The Path of the Shell"

You can not get up to the back of the courtyard. On the front part, where you can walk back and forth, there are 4 tables and there are different books on each of these 4 tables. You can read all these books if you feel like it. Some books tell you about the D'ni Kings, other books tells about the D'ni Culture, the D'ni religion, etc. etc.

On the stack of crates there is also a "Journey Cloth" with a "Post-It" note stuck. The note contains a message that you can read. In the left corner of this courtyard hangs a Periscope where you can see through. If you have looked at everything here and have read it, or you just have enough of it, open your Relto Linking Book and link back to your house in:

Relto:

First walk out of your house and outside you turn to your house. See ....... the outside of your house has now received a colorful decoration. Go back inside and to the left bookcase and click on it to zoom in again. Click on your Eder Gira Linking Book. That is the Green Book in the 6th slot. This book thus opens in your screen.

Do not click on the "Journey Cloth" but browse to the next page and click on the Photo to return to the beginning of the Eder Gira Age.

Back in Eder Gira:

Follow the path back to the 1st garden and go back to the 3rd "Journey Cloth" on the big Rock. Activate this 3rd "Journey Cloth" again now.

Later you will experience that it is advantageous for you to do this NOW.

Then go back to the Stone Path and follow this back to the 1st junction. Then turn right and go to the "Journey Door".

Open the "Journey Door" by clicking on the Hand and step into the dark tunnel.

Just continue walking in the dark until you hear the "Linking Sound" and you arrive in the:

Bahro Cave for the 4th time:

Now listen damn well to Yeesha. Especially to what she says about "You have to return to the Bahro Cave to bring back what you HAVE taken OUT"

When Yeesha is silence again, click on the "Hand in the Wall" to send the 4th, the Eder Kemo / Eder Gira, Totem Pole to your garden in Relto. Then jump back into the DEEP NOTHING to return to:

Relto:

Again you arrive in your front garden and you see the Eder Kemo / Eder Gira totem pole on the pillar. This also drops down and then ...... all 4 pillars rise again.

Chapter 7: The Cleft in the Desert Revisited. Ending the game

2013: Original Dutch Walkthrough by: Louis Koot
