Part 2: Underground

Chapter 16: Underground Square: Right Tunnel: 

The Lower Mechanics

You walked into the right tunnel, at the end you see a construction with a teleporter.  

Walk to the construction, it has a green teleporter on a pole. On the left is a tube where the green beam is going through, between the tube and the green crystal are two cables going up. On the right cable you see a spring and  lever 1. The backside of the tube is Lever 2.  If you click Lever 1 then the spring is pulled back but nothing happens and the spring goes back to its original position

Click Lever 2 to pull it out and........ On the spring cablea holder for a crystal comes sliding down.

Select your green crystal and click on the holder.

  Now click several times on Lever 1 until the spring is released and the teleporter is moved up.  I had to click that lever 3 times for this to happen

Click on the hand plate of the teleporter and you fly via the green beam up.  

You have arrived upstairs. Pick up your green crystal teleporter and then turn around walk to the gate door.  

On the right of the gate door is a white light button. 

If you didn’t take the green crystal teleporter back you can not open this gate  

Click on the white button to open up the door and then walk into the next big cave:  

Lower Mechanics  

You are now in a large cave under the Mechanics Cabin.  To the right is an alcove with 2 large consoles. Straight ahead is a table against the left wall and a doorway and to the right of that is the large cave with the lower mechanics hut. Go take a look at that cabin and then go the table

 On the table is also a letter, read the letter.  

Past the table is a doorway with a stairway behind it. Walk up the stairs and you come at a closed gate, you have to open this gate elsewhere.  

Go back downstairs and walk past the table and then left into the big cave.  Walk up the stairs and look inside the cabin. Inside you see the content of the Mechanics Cabin, on Main Square when you entered it the first time. So this  cave is underneath the Mechanics Cabin on Main Square. Walk around the round cabin. At  the back you see a vault door with a numbers lock.  

There are 2 platforms around the cabin, 1 in the back and 1 at  the front  side of the cabin. There is a gate around the hut and the opening of the cabin is now at the back but you cannot enter the cabin there. You have to turn the cabin to get the opening at the front side so that you can go inside and you must do this with the consoles that are in the alcove . Walk back towards the entrance and then go to those consoles.  

There are 2 consoles. The left console is Console A and on the right is Console B

First stand atconsole A.  On top you find a display with 7 numbers, underneath you find a plate with a slider just above it.  

The plate is divided in 4 parts. On the right side of the plate you find a start button, to the right and a little bit above that button you see a round plate with 4 rings.

On the plate with rings are 2 numbers, on the top you see II and at the underside I. These numbers stand for the opening of the cabin, the opening is now at II.

You now have to turn the cabin in a way that the opening is at the front side. With the slider you select a part of the plate, each part is connected with 2 rings. Place the slider on a part and you see which rings are connected to that plate.

This ring puzzle works a little bit different than the ring puzzle above the ground. You have to get all the openings in the rings at the same place at I but the way to do it is different, now you can turn the cabin.

Name the parts of the plate, from left to right A to D, and the rings from outside to inside 1 to 4.

Place the slider on a part A, B, C, D and see which rings are connected to that part.  

A: ring 3 + 4,  B: ring 1 + 3,  C: ring 2 + 4, D: ring 1 + 2.

You can turn the rings clockwise (-)  or anti-clockwise (+). How a ring turns is determined by 2 parts.

Ring 1: part B + D, Ring 2: part C + D, Ring 3: part A + B, Ring 4: part A + C.

If you look closely to the rings at the places where the openings are,  you can determine how you have to turn the rings to put the opening of the rings at the bottom.

There are 4 places where the openings can be placed.

  • Ring 1: 1 x anticlockwise or 3 x clockwise  = B + D =  -1 or +3

  • Ring 2: 3 x anticlockwise or 1 x clockwise  = C + D =  -3 or +1  

  • Ring 3: 2 x anticlockwise or 2 x clockwise  = A + B =  -2 or +2  

  • Ring 4: is already in the right place     = A + C =  0 or -4 or +4

Start with ring 4: A +C has to be 0 or +4 or -4, 0 is not possible because you have only 1 zero. There are 2 solutions: 2 + 2 and -3 + -1, if -1 + -3 is also possible I don’t know.

Start with A = -3 and C = -1 and from there you can deduce the other numbers.

This is the 1 solution: A= -3, B= +1, C= -1 and D= -2  

Put the slider on A, B, C, D and then click on the number of the number display that you want to set in the selected part, if you have done all 4 parts click on the start button.  

You see the cabin turning and the opening is now on the front side.  

Walk to the cabin and go inside.  

On the table is round cylinder. In inventory select the key, that you have found in the Underwater Hideaway. Then click on the cylinder.  

 The cylinder opens and you see a pushbutton, click on the button and.......  

..... a light goes on just behind the cylinder. Through the glass you see that a lamp also lights up in the other half of the cabin. How can you get there?  

First you have to turn the cabin again. So leave the cabin and go back to console A. Press the reset button in the middle of the rings and then see how far each ring has to rotate to get all dark pieces at II.  

  • Ring 1: must turn 1x clockwise or 3 x anti-clockwise = B + D = +1 or -3

  • Ring 2: must turn 3 x clockwise or 1xanticlockwise = C + D = -1 or +3

  • Ring 3: is already correct = A + B = 0 or +4 or -4

  • Ring 4: must turn 2x clockwise or 2x anticlockwise = A + C = +2 or -2

Follow the same procedure again: start at the ring that is good, A + B must be 0 or + 4 or -4, 0 is not possible because you only have 1 zero. -3 + -1 or 2 + 2 can both.

Start with A = -3 and B = -1 and the other numbers follow.

This is a solution (more are possible)

A = -3, B = -1, C = +1 and D = -2.

With this solution you only have to swap the numbers in part B and part C.

Select part B and click on 0, 0 comes in part B and 1 is again on the display.  

Now select C and click on the 1, it comes in C and -1 is shown again in the display.

Select B and click -1, it comes in B.

The code is correct, click on start and the rings turn and also the cabin.  

How do you get in there now, not here below. 

Walk into the cave for a moment and look up, there you see another cabin hanging above. 

This is now the content of the Mechanics hut. Walk back to the consoles but no go stand at console B

This consists of 2 parts. On the left you see 2 lamps, a white and an orange, and 3 letters A, B and C. 

You also see that you can put a cabin aside.  You must do this with the levers A and B on the right console 

With the left lever A you select the cabin, orange is the one here below and white is the cabin above.  

You have to move the cabin from down here, up and aside. Turn to the right console.  

Click Lever A down to the orange lamp B and leave Lever B up at C. Then click on the white button.

See what happens......The cabin down here goes up a bit and then slide aside.  

Now put the Lever A up to white again and put Lever B at the orange B an d press the button again  and.......  

......... now the upper cabin comes down. 

 Walk to the cabin here on the ground. Enter the cabin and go up the spiral staircase.  

On the top of this cabin you see the other cabin hanging and you also see the locked gate. 

Walk to the railing where you see a post with a handle.  

Next to the lever is a round disc, it's a tumbler, take this tumbler

 Pull the lever down and the gate opens, you can now reach the other cabin through the gate.  

Go down the spiral staircase and go to where the table is and there go upstairs and then through the now opengate.  

On the right you  see a robot arm and a pole with a button. Don't press this button now, we do that later

Go left up the stairs to the platform, at the end you can now enter that cabin.  

Go inside and walk to the pole, there is another tumbler. Take the tumbler  

Go back down again to console B and now turn Lever A down to orange and Lever B  down to A. Press the white button and.......

.... the other cabin will now slide over the cabin with the spiral staircase and then move upwards.  

Now you have to get the cabin with the spiral staircase up and to the side.

Set Lever A and Lever B upwards again to white and press the white button again.  

The cabin with the spiral staircase now goes up and aside.

Now go up the stairs in the rock again and to the push button on the pole  and now push this button and.......  

.. the robot arm extends. Now walk into the cabin and up the spiral staircase and thento the railing at the robot arm,  

... there is another tumbler in the tongs. Take the tumbler.  

Turn around and walk out of the cabin, you come to a device that makes those strange half rings.

Here you have to place the 3 tumblers.

 When you have done that, they will spin, you now have a one-armed bandit or a slot machine.  

You have to pull the lever several times until you have hit the jackpot.  

If you have the jackpot then you get the number code for the vault door downstairs.  

You can now also pull open the drawer, do that and grab the strange ring.  

Back to the Underground Square:  

Walk down to the safe.

You must now enter the code here and then every time click the white button in the middle

So this is 46, 11, 37, 77....after each number you must click the white button

The vault door opens and you look the first cave where you sunk into with the Central Tower lift..  

As you know, you can't go up with the lift in the Centrol Tower, so go back through the tunnel and continue to the elevator.  

The elevator is still down at the Underground Square, so press the button to get the elevator up here.  

Get in the elevator and press the button to go down to the Underground Square again.  

Walk out of the elevator and go to the Underground Square. Walk to the pole in the middle, select the strange ring and click on the pole.  

The pole drops and the middle ring opens.  

The Underground Square starts to rotate and descends in a spiral along a central column.  

When the platform stops turning you see a doorway in the column, go inside and descend the spiral staircase.  

You have now arrived at Reservoir Cave.
