Chapter
7: Engine room troubles
Engine
room:
You're
in the engine room. On the left is a low table with a letter
and a bucket. Take the bucket and read the letter.
On the right is a round device with 4 tumblers with characters on top.
In addition you
see a
table with a shelf above it against the wall, something is hidden behind the red
paint.
In the
middle is a device with wheels, pipes, a row of lamps and 5 tubes at the front.
You just
found a piece of pipe, in the first tube is the same piece of pipe. Select the
piece of pipe in your inventory and then click on the second tube.
First
there was only one light on but now there are 3 lights on. There is a different
symbol on each light. You came across these symbols on cupboard doors and next to
doors of huts. The upper symbol you saw on the front hut at the Watchtower,
this hut was already open. A burning light means that something is open now, there are now
2 more lights burning now. I hope you have noted all these symbols, which and where you saw
them. There are 2 cupboards in the garden that are now open.
Turn
around and leave this engine room hut and go all the way back to the garden
/ greenhouse via the hanging platform and
the drawbridge.
Garden:
Brew
a red
berry liquid
Walk through the first curtains and turn right to the cupboard in the back, that's now open.
There are a
number of plants in the cupboard but you cannot do anything with them now, maybe
later.
On the
right side of the shelf is a wine glass, take this wine glass.
Now walk through the next curtains into the backroom and go to the cupboard in the back
At the
top is a note and on the shelf underneath it is a press to squeeze berries. Put the
wine glass on the grid under the press. Read the
note that is hanging
against the shelf. The note tells about the native berries, the squeezed juice
of those berries has a
huge effect on a person's senses.
The
berries can be found just around the corner in the garden. Walk to it and select
your flower scissors and cut 1x red berries.
Walk
back to the cupboard with the press and put the berries in the
press and then pull the lever down.
There is now a glass with red berry juice. Grab the glass back
At the bottom of the screen you then read: "click to drink", but do not do that yet.
Wait with the drinking of the berry juice until you are back in the engine room, because that is where you will return to now
Engine
room:
Turn to the right and look at the sign with the red paint. In inventory select the glass with berry juice and then click on "Click to Drink" to drink the juice now
You now see a number through the red paint: 3719 and this number must be entered on the tumblers, on top of the round device
Horizontal
dashes are digits 1 to 4, a vertical bar is 5, 2 stripes is 10 etc.
So you
have to enter 3719 on the tumblers and then press the
button. On the picture below
you see the solution.
The
device slides open and you find a piece of pipe again, pick up the piece of
pipe.
Turn
left to the machine and put the piece of pipe into the third tube.
There are 2 more lights on, 1 of them is the closet in the Crystal Lab and the other is for the cave.
You will find the cave if you walk past the Watchtower, further along
the jetty and then onto the side path.
Crystal
Lab
Walk to the Crystal Lab and enter it again and go to the closet in the corner.
You see a
closed box with a code lock, luckily there is a note with the code.
The code
for the cave is also on it. Enter the upper code with the 2 buttons.
So
click: 2x A, 1x B, 2x A, 2x B, 1x A, 1x B, 1x A and the sliding door opens.
Inside you will find a holder for a Crystal ....
Grab the Holder and open your inventory (Q) and view that thing from all sides.
Click on
the thicker part and the thing will slide out. It is a kind of torch but without
a crystal.
This is
a torch holder for the red crystal, which you will need later at the
telescope. We now go to the cave because you do not know what and why you are
looking for something with the telescope.
Cave:
The cave is closed with a gate that has a code lock, but you found the code on the note in the closet in the Crystal Lab.
It's
the bottom code that's on the note. Put the
code in and the fence will go up.
So on the lock click: A, 3xB, A, B, 2xA, 2xB
Walk
into the cave and look around. Right in front of you are 2 paintings on two
easels, on the right is a table with things on it and above it.
We
look at those two paintings and at the table in
a moment, first look around a bit further. Turn to the left and you will see
a stone circular disc with 2 circles on the wall and it is divided into 8 segments. You also
see a stone door behind a fence.
Let's take a closer look at those two paintings and the things on the low table. The left painting shows you the partial solution for the stone circle on the wall. The right painting gives you a clue to where to find the 2e part of the code for that stone lock, at the telescope......you need to look through the telescope for that
NB: If you're playing the "old version" of the game then you only see the left painting. In the updated version of the game you'll see both paintings
Turn
around to the table. At the front is a letter, read this. To the right of it is
a heavy metal ring with holes in it, take this metal ring.
On
the shelf, above
the table, there is a drawing and next to it is a ragged piece of red fabric. The
drawing is a circle divided into 8 segments, in the segments there are again
those bar numbers. The drawing has to do with the round disc on the wall and
that ragged piece of red fabric is a clue.....it is refering you to the red flag
that you saw through the telescope. On the
left painting you saw that 8 segments of the circle are shaded. You need to press
these 8 segments but in what order?
Compare
the floor plan with the drawing above the table and determine which numbers
belong to those segments. The segment with the lowest number must first be
pressed, then the segment with the second lowest number, etc. On the screenshot below
, the yellow numbers are the bar numbers and the white numbers are the order
in which you have to press the segments of the stone circle on the wall.
If
done correctly the stone door slide open but the iron gate remains closed.
The disc on the wall now rotates and the white arrow now points downwards.
You still need a code to open the iron gate here. You have seen such a circle with 8 segments before, on the red banner / flag opposite the telescope.
That flag hangs above the passage to the Main Square. Leave the cave and go back to the telescope at the top of the watchtower
Watchtower:
Go to the telescope and look through the sight glass, unfortunately you only see the flag but no map yet.
Select the holder that you found in the cabinet in the Crystal Lab.
Then click on the holder of the telescope, select the
red
crystal and click on the holder to place the crystal on it.
You now
have a red ray. Look through the eye peace again and find the red flag. Move the
red telescope circle over the flag to set the flag on fire
The flag
is burning. When the fire is extinguished you see a circle drawing on the rock.
Draw the drawing or press P to save a sketch of it in the notepad.
The white segment are the segments that you must push in on the stone disc in the cave
Zoom out from the telescope and take back the red crystal and the holder.
Go back to the cave.
Cave:
Compare the new drawing with the drawing above the table again. The red numbers are the bar numbers. Maybe you this is not true but wait a moment .....
... the
disc on the wall is now upside down so it is correct. Now click, on the stone
wall disc, on the segments with the white numbers 1 to 8.
The
iron fence now goes up, so go inside.
In the
back you see a piece of pipe on a pedestal. Take this piece of
pipe...but nfortunately the door closes again.
You have to put something on the pedestal instead of the piece of pipe, and it must be equally heavy.
Put the piece of pipe back
on the pedestal and go out of the cave.
Weigh a
pipe piece
Go
back to the engine room and take the 3th piece of pipe out of the tube.
You have
to weigh this piece to find something that is equally heavy. There is a scale in
the front hut near the telescope.
Walk to
that hut and go inside to the scale.
Now select your
measuring spoon
in your inventory and then click on the tray with sand.
Throw the spoonful of sand into the bucket of the scale and do this 4 times in a row.....So you have to throw a total of 4 scoops of sand into the bucket.
With 4 spoons of sand in the bucket of the scale the scale is in balance, so the piece of pipe weighs 4 spoons of sand.
Take back the piece of pipe back from the scale and place your bucket on the scale.
The bucket of the scale, which now contains 4 scoops of sand, turns out to be 3 times heavier than your bucket.
So your empty bucket now weighs 1 scoop of sand.
To make your bucket as heavy as the piece of pipe, you have to put 3 scoops of sand in your bucket.
But you can't do this while your bucket is on the scale
Then select your measuring spoon again and throw 3 scoops of sand in the filling device
Take the
bucket back and then click it under the filling device to the left of the tray with sand.
...... then click on the lever and your bucket will now be filled with 3 scoops of sand.
Take your bucket back and put it back on the shelf of the scale,
if you have done everything right, the scale is now in balance.
Your bucket of sand is now just as heavy as a piece of pipe.
Take your
bucket back
and walk to the engine room and put the piece of pipe back in the
3th tube.
The cave is now open again so walk back to the cave and enter the room with the piece of pipe again.
Take the piece of pipe from the pedestal again and then place your bucket with sand in its place.
Now the stone door goes open again and it will stay open
Walk out of the room again. A green light comes into the cave and a woman's voice talks to you
This green light and the voice is al that's left of the original inhabitans of the island...she's a spirit.
When she
is done talking you walk back to the engine room. Put the piece of pipe in the
next tube, 2 more lights light up.
The mine entrance, at the gate to the Watchtower, is now open and also the closet in the Chemistry Lab will now be open.
Leave the engine room and
walk in the direction of the Watchtower, just before the gate is the entrance to
the mine.
The
mine:
The mine
is now open so enter the mine. Just keep walking, you see a low table on the
left with 2 blue crystals on it.
Above the table you see a lever on the wall, you can pull it but it has no powerr yet
Walk
on and.......You hear
a lot of noise and you see a bridge swing up and down and then continue to stand
up.
That
does not matter because the bridge was already up. You see a table to the right
of the bridge.
In front
of the table you see a few cables in the sand, these run from the bridge to a
device to the right of that table.
Walk to
the table, read the book that's on the table. You can view the other stuff but you cannot do
anything with it. Above the table is a drawing with 2 ++ and 2 -
-.
Turn to the device. You see at the top a disc with a scale with a green, a yellow and a red area. Between the yellow and red area you see a white line, that is the mark you have to reach. At the bottom left you see 5 lights, indicating that you have 5 steps to reach that white line
Move the
handle to a position and pull the slide between position 1 and 2. The lever at
position 4 gives +7, at 3 gives +5, position 2 gives -5 and position 1 is -7.
The white line is +11, there are 2 ways to do that. You can
first 2x position 4 and then 2x position 2 and then as last position 4, you'll have
to pull down the slider between 1 and 2 each time. This gives 11. The
other order is: position 4, position 2, again position 1, also another position
2 and last position 1. Again, pull the slide down again. This gives +7, -5, +7,
-5 and +7 = 11.
The
explanation of Louis is as follows, from the beginning position of the puzzle 1 = The
handle is on 2. Turn the handle to 4 and then pull the slide down 2 = Turn
the handle from 4 to 3 and back to 4 and pull the slide down again 3 = Turn
the handle from 4 back to 2 and pull the slide down again. 4 = Turn
the handle from 2 to 3 and back to 2 and pull the slide down again 5 = Turn
the handle from 2 to 4 and pull the slide down again and ..... ready If all
this is successful then you walk back to the lever above the table, that you have seen
before and now pull that lever down. |
Now
the bridge stays down so walk over to the other side.
Here you
can see crystals on the left and right and also a number of devices. In the back you see a wooden door, walk towards it and open
it.
This is
the back entrance of the mine, you come out on the South Passage path to the cave.
Enter
the mine again. Walk to the bridge, to the right of the bridge is a column with
a lamp on it and a lever at the front. You cannot do anything with this. On the right
a table is cut out in the rock and on the table is a letter, read the
letter.
On the other side of the room you see a piece of rock where a device is mounted on and in.
What you have to do with it will become clear later on.
Left and
right next to it you see 2 tables, on the left you see an device with 2 crystals
in the front, white at the front and a orange behind it. Between the two tables
is a devive on the wall. That device on the wall is the "Tower
of Hanoi puzzle" that you have to solve here later......it's
connected to an "Iron Maiden" on the
right side of it. Behind
the crystals is a standard with a yellow light in the middle, there is also a
scale with a pointer on a number. Click on the handle and the 2 crystals will
change place. The light in the middle is now white and the scale points to a
different number.
Is this an clue? It must be because you cannot do anything with it. Now go to the table on the right.
On the table are two things that you need. In the middle is a round stone mold and to the right is a round metal pipe piece.
Take
the mold and take that pipe
piece.
In the
letter you have read that the man has found a mineral that is the pure shape of the
energy of the orange crystal.
Alchemy Lab
Enter the lab and walk to the closet at the back.
The
left side of this closet is now also open and inside it hangs a large bottle
with light fluid. A bracket for
the stone mold is hanging under the bottle. Select the
mold and click on the bracket. The mold is hung in the bracket. Click on the
tap to fill the mold.
Take the mold back from the bracket.
Leave the lab via the passage to the drawbrigde and the hanging platform.
North Shore
Go
over the drawbridge to Main Square and then right through the gate to the
North Shore. Walk to the oven.
Select
the red crystal and then click on the holder on the bottom, a fire will now be
lit. Select the filled mold and click on the extended bracket.
Pull the lever...... the mold slides inside and the oven closes and the mold is baked. The oven opens again after about 15 seconds.
Take back the mold and do not forget to take back the red crystal also, because you need it in the Alchemy lab again.
Go back to the
mine, across the bridge to the
table in the right corner. There is the device in which the mold stood.
Select the mold and click on that device to place the mold in it.
Press the button,
the mold rises and is turned over. The shape in the mold falls out. Grab the
white round disc.
You now have all the parts to make s piece of pipe. Go back to the engine room...
Engine Room:
Enter
and turn left to the device in the corner. This is a press.
First
place the larger ring in the press, then the white part and then the
smaller
ring.
Pull the
handle and then take out the piece of pipe.
Walk to
the device with the lamps and tubes and put the piece of pipe in the last tube.
All lamps on the machine are on now, so now the Mechanics hut, at the stairs to the hanging platform, must be open also. We continue in:
