Chapter 5: The Wild Lands: Part 4:

free Wilbur

Orc camp: The Warrior Contest:

While Ivo and Critter are busy in Mortroga's castle, Nate walks into the Orc camp and discovers that there is only one Orc left in the camp. This Orc has only one leg and he is the Chief Orc of the camp and also the referee of the warrior tournament. A chat follows between the Orc and Nate. Nate thinks he will get off easy because there are no more opponents but then bounty hunter Ma'Zaz enters the camp......

Ma'Zaz wants to "arrest" Nate again, but she can't as long as he's in that contest. So, Ma'Zaz decides to be Nate's opponent in the warrior match. The referee then explains that the match consists of three tests. A strength test, a skill test and a speed test. Nate can start whenever it suits him, but he has to stay in camp.

Test 1: strength test

Talk to the referee Orc again and it will then continue automatically ......

The Orc tells that the test of strength consists of throwing the wooden tree trunk. The candidate who throws the tree trunk furthest wins the test. Ma'Zaz throws the tree trunk first and she throws the thing quitefar.... the distance Ma'Zaz throws is measured by the referee with a tape measure of tied socks. Ma'Zaz threw the log 12 feet away. Ma'Zaz gives Nate until sunset to surpass her distance and Nate gets to throw as many times as he likes. Nate then makes his first attempt and that is very poor. The tree trunk is much too heavy for Nate and he realizes he will have to cheat if he is to survive this first test.

At the gate of the encampment, bottom left, are a number of earthen "tubes"... those "tubes" are termite nests.

 Click with your magnifying glass on those termite tubes and .......

......Nate gets in touch with the termites that live in the tubes. Continue talking to the termites via the talk options and ask the termites for help via "Could you help me with the dwarf throwing?". The termites are willing to hollow out the massive tree trunk for Nate, but only if Nate brings them a so-called 1784 Château Latife shelf. So go look for such a shelf for the termites. Walk to the right and then, past Ma'Zaz, further into the camp. On the next screen, Nate ends up at the Chief Orc's tent. A coat of arms and some chop and slash weapons lean against the tent. There is an archer's target and a "strange person" in front of the other tent.

Check out the tent, coat of arms and archers target. Enter the Tent ...... 

When Nate walks into the tent, a masked man approaches him from the back of the tent .....

.... the masked man leaves the tent without saying anything to Nate.

Wilbur is hanging upside down in the tent, completely tied up, dangling from a rope. Nate talks to Wilbur and briefs him on his adventures here. Of course Wilbur immediately wants Nate to untie him, but Nate says that he can't do that now but that he can free Wilbur through the warrior contest. Then continue talking through the conversation options ..... Wilbur tells that the Chief Orc has protected the artifact with a powerful spell, so that no one can steal it. 

Look at the magic circle drawn on the ground and also look at the box. Nate prefers to stay away from magic. Wilbur also doesn't know who that masked man is, who just left the tent when Nate entered. In the back part of the tent is a basket with balls of wool, in front of the blue sofa. A wooden plank rests on a cushion on the blue sofa.

Look at the basket and look at the wooden plank. There is also a note with the plankand that note states that the plank is made of Château wood. Wilbur says that the plank was put here by the masked guy. Nate automatically puts the plank in inventory. Leave the Chief tent and walk back to the front part of the camp. Talk to the Termites again and say "I've got your funny board here!" and.....

Nate gives the plank to the termites. The termites then say that, in exchange for the plank, they can also free Wilbur, but now they just sit on the plank. Take the plank with the termites from inventory and place the plank on the tree trunk dwarf and the termites go to work and eat the tree trunk hollow. Then click with your wrench on the now lighter tree trunk and.......

Nate throws the tree trunk but it seems like he throws a little less far than Ma'Zaz. The referee measures Nate's throw and guess what, Nate has thrown a little further and wins the showdown by 6 toe lengths. The referee and Ma'Zaz then walk away to the Chief's tent.

Test 2: Skill Test:

Walk back to the Chief tent and talk to the referee again.

The referee then explains the skill test. So the skill test is an archery competition, but Nate doesn't have a bow and arrow.

Ma'Zaz immediately hits the target's bullseye with her first arrow.

So Nate needs a bow and arrow. Enter the Chief tent again. 

Right at the entrance of the tent is a skeleton. Look at the skull of the skeleton 2 times with your magnifying glass and ......

Nate finds a stone arrowhead in the skull. Leave the tent again and walk back to the left, to the front of the camp. The masked guy and the "strange" guy are here now. There is a tree trunk near the masked guy and a twig grows from the tree trunk Look at the tree trunk and then click with your grab hand on the tree trunk to break off the twig.

In inventory, combine the arrowhead with the twig and you then have an arrow, but the arrow still needs "wings", so combine the feather with the arrow as well (you took the feather from Shaman's tent). Now go talk to the masked guy. The guy just growls at first, so ask him who he is......the masked one won't tell you who he is and why he's here. Ask "Do you have a bow for me?" ...... the mask guy can get Nate a bow if he asks the merchant if he has 98 copper pots. Say hello and walk to the strange guy ..... the strange guy is a merchant. Talk to the merchant called Bill and ask him about 98 copper pots and then all the other questions ......

Unfortunately, Bil has no copper pots for sale. Walk back to the masked guy and tell him that the merchant has no copper pots, via "I ask the merchant about copper pots....". The mask guy doesn't mind and he leaves the camp to get a bow for Nate. When the mask guy walks out of camp, go back to the chief tent with Nate and then right back here. The mask guy will then be back and give Nate his bow.

When Nate got the bow, walk back to the Chieftent. Talk to the referee again and first ask "How many disciplines do I have to win?".....

The referee says that if Nate wins 2 of the 3 tests he will win two thirds of the prize but Ma'Zaz may claim her third of the prize first. Ma'Zaz has hit the bullseye and thus scored 10 points. Nate can't get over that because more than 10 points can't be won. So Nate can only match Ma'Zaz with archery and so he can never win all 3 tests.

Say you are ready to shoot via "I am ready to shoot". Nate makes his first attempt but first hits the shield and then completely misses the target. Nate will have to come up with another ruse to hit the bullseye too. Look at the shield, if you haven't done already. You then get the wrench on the shield because you can turn the shield. Click 1 time on the shield to rotate it a bit.

After turning the shield once, talk to the referee again and say you're going to shoot again via "I want try try again..."

Ma'Zaz shoots again and hits the Bullseye again,then Nate shoots for the 2nd time. Nate's arrow bounces through the shield to a wok pan hanging on the right tent and through that wok pan the arrow bounces to a frying pan that hangs on the left the Chieftent.

 Close the conversation screen and walk to that wok.

 Look at the wok pan and then click on it 2 times with your wrench to turn the wok pan slightly 2 times. 

Then look at that frying pan and then click 1 time with your wrench on it to turn the pan a little bit.

Tell the referee you want to shoot again and this time Nate's arrow goes through the shield, the wok, the frying pan and the wok to the Bullseye and Nate's arrow cleaves the arrow of Ma'Zaz. Nate and Ma'Zaz have thus achieved a tie in archery. So it is now actually 2-1 for Nate, but if he stops now Wilbur will have to be divided in two. So Nate has to come up with another ruse to keep Ma'Zaz from scoring a point in the archery competition. Archery is not over yet.....

Walk back to the left and talk to merchant Bil again. Bil now tells that he has the 98 copper pots and he wants to sell them to Nate. Ask if Bil has any other items for sale. Bil then lists a number of things he has for sale, including a magic stone that attracts metal. Nate is interested in that magic stone because his arrowhead is made of stone, but Ma'Zaz's arrowhead is made of iron. Ask how much the magic stone should cost. 

Bil wants to sell the stone for 3 bags of silver and 3 rolls of gold. Nate does not have silver and gold, so ask Bil to play a game with the magic stone as price, via "What would you say to playing for the stone?". Nate offers his armor and Bil likes it and he thinks of a number between 1 and 100 and Nate has to guess that number. But of course Nate doesn't want to try right away so say "Enough talk" to close the conversation. Now go talk to the masked guy again and ask "Do you have any idea how I can get the Orc warrior to not consistently hit the bullseye?". The masked guy then gives a crumpled piece of paper to Nate and says that he must read it and then play the game with merchant Bill.

The masked stranger disappears. Right click in inventory on the paper Nate just got. There are 3 numbers, 42, 79, and 2.5, on the paper. But which of these 3 numbers is the number Nate has to guess?. Go talk to merchant Bil again and first say "About the magic stone....". Nate says that Bil should write 3 numbers on a piece of paper so that he cannot cheat and that he then guess a number.....and so it happens...Bil writes down 3 numbers and Nate guesses them 1 by 1 because they are the same  numbers as on Nate's paper. Nate wins the magic stone. End the conversation with Bil and walk back to the Chief tent. Continue to the target. Take the magic stone from inventory and click it on the target and .....

Nate attaches the magnet stone to the back of the target, right behind the Bullseye. 

Go tell the Chief Referee again that you want to shoot again and ....... 

The magnet causes Ma'Zaz to miss now and Nate also wins this second test ..... the score is now 2 -0 for Nate

Test 3: Speed test:

Ma'Zaz and the Chief walk back to the front of the camp. Follow them and talk to the Chief again. Chief then explains the 3rd test.

The speed test means that the contestants have to run to a mountain top and back to camp. The first one back wins the race. Nate now only gets 1 chance and Ma'Zaz is already on her way so Nate runs after her. After a while, Nate, completely exhausted, comes back to the camp gate and thinks that he has lost the race. But then Nate is told that Ma'Zaz is still on her way. Nate does not believe his ears but he walks into the camp the Chief tells that he has won the race and thus the competition.

Chief suggests celebrating Nate's victory with some booze, but Nate wants to leave with Wilbur as soon as possible before Ma'Zaz gets back. We then end up in the Chief tent. Wilbur is free and asks about the box he wants to take with him. The Chief thinks the box is his and he doesn't want to give it up. Nate tricks the Chief into having a drink anyway and he and Chief leave the tent. You are now:

Wilbur:

As Wilbur you are now in the Chief tent. The box is on the left ... the box is in a white magic circle. There is a mirror behind Wilbur and the wool basket is still standing near the blue sofa. Look at the white magic circle. Wilbur does not dare to walk into the circle. Look at the box .... the artifact is in the box, but Wilbur does not dare to walk into the circle to grab the box. Look at the Basket and.........

Wilbur takes a ball of red wool from the basket. Leave the tent.  

Nate and the chief are hoisting beer in front of the tent, but Nate keeps secretly emptying his mug into the barrel next to him. 

Talk to the Chief and ask him about the magic circle via "What's with the magic circle in the tent then?".....

Chief tells that the magic circle is the latest in theft protection and he then gives Wilbur the magic circle box he bought....but only the Chief knows the password for this box. Close the conversation and look at the box in inventory. Wilbur takes the instructions out of the box. Read the instructions. Wilbur reads that anyone who tries to enter the magic circle, without touching at the same time thinking the secret password, will be struck by the Evil Eye.

A sheet of foil has come out of the instructions. Look at the foil .... 

Wilbur reads on and learns that the foil is so-called mithril foil and that it is intended as protection against the Evil Eye, if you have forgotten the password . 

With the help of metal wires, the foil can be made into a helmet, but those metal wires are no longer included in the box. 

Wilbur hast to look for a metal wire. Walk back to the left side of the camp.  On the left corner of the yellow tent is a TV antenna. Look at the TV antenna .....

The TV antenna would be an ideal metal wire, but how to demolish that antenna from the tent? Walk back to the right part of the camp and continue to the target .....

Look at the target twice with your magnifying glass. Wilbur notices the magnet stone, which Nate has attached to the back, and he then takes the magnet stone automatically. Go back to the yellow tent. In inventory, combine the red wool with the magnet stone. Take the wool / stone combo from inventory and click it on the TV antenna and ....

Wilbur pulls the antenna off the tent and puts it in inventory. Combine the antenna with the foil and Wilbur then has a myrthil helmet

Back to the Chief tent. Enter the tent again. 

Continue to the edge of the magic circle. Left click in inventory on the Helmet and Wilbur puts the helmet on his head and .....

....Wilbur enters the circle and grabs the box. On the way back Wilbur stumbles and .the helmet and the box fall outside the circle. 

But Wilbur is not hit by the evil eye.

 Wilbur has accidentally learned the password and he confirms this by standing in the circle again, without a helmet.

Click with your grab hand on the box, which is now in front of the mirror. However, Wilbur says that he cannot just walk out of the tent with the box because the Chief would immediately see that Wilbur has stolen the box. So leave the tent without the box and go back to the front part of the camp. Walk on to the gate and now also look at the termites as Wilbur.  After the introduction, click again with the talk cursor on the termites and........

Wilbur tells the termites his problem and the critters are willing to help when Wilbur brings them to the box. Wilbur then has the termites in inventory. Return to the Chief tent and enter it again and It will now continue automatically .......In the Chieftent, Wilbur has an uneasy feeling that he is being watched. Then the termites crawl under the box and they carry the box out of the tent. Wilbur and Nate follow the box to the gate. The Termites then want to keep the box with the artifact for themselves, but Nate makes short work of the termites by trampling them .......

Wilbur picks up the box and he and Nate leave the Orc Camp but ....... 

Outside the gate, Nate and Wilbur are met by Munkus, who takes possession of the box and .......

Nate and Wilbur are taken by Munkus to his mother Mortroga ...... We end up in:
